post workout headaches
hey, i know im not the only person that suffers from this. my buddy whose a personal trainer says its nomal for people like me that really like to push myself.. but after an intense run, i always have a headache. it goes away shortly after my workout is complete and a stretch and shower. i know its not my workout cuz im very careful. 5 min stretch, 5 min warm-up, 20-30 min inclined run, 5 min cooldown, 5 min stretch, then nice warm shower to relax my aching muscles.
my question is, who else suffers from this and what do you do to prevent/deal with it?
Reason: Moved from WL to H&S forum, thanks
I get these too! But I get a bad headache right at the end of my 65 min run. I've found if I eat a little snack (fruit or a string cheese) before my workout and avoid caffine, the headaches are usually not so bad. Also, make sure you're getting enough water. Hope this helped. :]
.WATER. head aches are usually caused by dehydration, so pump out the caffiene and diuretics, and drink water. Lots of it, especially before you workout and after. (not right before, because you'll get a side ache)
I second the water. I used to get these headaches but now if I am careful to hydrate the day before and of an intense workout I am fine.
I also recommend drinking fluids. If you're a person that gets really sweaty though, I'd drink something with electrolytes (I recommend Nuun- it's not nearly as sweet as gatorade/powerade, and doesn't contain splenda). Headaches can mean dehydration, and you'll want to become 'rehydrated' with some electrolytes.
