Post-Workout Protein Shake
I am looking for a post-workout protein powder that is low in calories, fat, and sugar but still has a significant amount of protein. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Right now I am using a supplement I got at Trader Joe’s. It is Vanilla flavored whey protein powder. 2 scoops provides 16 grams of protein, 130 calories, 2 grams of fat, and 11 grams of carbs (8 of which are sugar). I’m pretty sure there has to be something out there with more protein than what I have.
Thanks!
I use EAS 100% Whey. It's 120 calories, 2 grams of fat, 3 carbs (1g sugar, 1g fiber), and 23g protein in one scoop. It's around $12 or so.
If you're looking for even more protein, Smoothie King has a mix called "Gladiator" that you can buy for like, $50 that has something like 42g protein and 120 calories or something stupid. There are some other ones as well (Pure Protein is one I've used as well), but those are really the only two I've used.
My favorite is Optimum Nutrition's 100% Gold Whey. It has 24 grams of protein per serving, basically no sugar, low sodium, etc.. The only thing that sucks is that it is a bit on the expensive side. However, if you do some research about it on the net, you will see how popular and highly thought of it is.
SMOOTHIE KING GLADIATOR POWDER, COMES IN VANILLA OR CHOCOLATE. IT ONLY HAS 180 CALORIES, 2 CARB AND 43 GRAMS OF PROTIEN. IT'S A MEAL SUPPLEMENT DRINK. I BUY IT FOR $35 IN LOUISIANA. I DRINK IT AT NIGHT AFTER MY WORK OUT AS MY DINNER, LOVE IT. I USE VANILLA BECUZ SOMETIMES I BLEND IT WITH FRUIT, BUT MOSTLY I MIX IT WITH 12 OZ OF SOY, SKIM MILK OR JUST PLAIN WATER. TASTE GREAT!
I have a 16 oz glass of skim milk with sugar free chocolate syrup. About 160 cals, 18 g of protein, no fat and tastes pretty good. Cheap too!

Exactly the same I use! By far the best stuff. You can find it at GNC or a little cheaper online (like www.bodybuilding.com).
Ash, the kind you are using is only 50% protein based on calories. The better stuff is over 80%
.
I also use the Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey. It's pretty much the same price if you buy it online or at GNC. My boyfriend buys it on a1supplements.com, but I get it at GNC.
