i posted a version of this in the motivation forum, but nobody but patsy cared :/
i tried on two calvin klein dresses today [yesterday, now], a six and an eight, and the six fit! (unfortunately, i didn't like it. it was kind-of stiff and heavy. the eight was really cute, but it fit like a sack dress. of course, it kind-of was a sack dress ;) but they didn't have it in a six )
it was one thing when denver hayes (imaginary designer of generic canadian "work wear") said i was a six, but calvin?
Awesome! Feels great doesn't it?
Levi Strauss said I was a 12 the other day and I was pretty psyched about that. Nearly 50lbs lost and I've finally gone down a pants size (god I hate my thighs). Woot!
I haven't lost any dress sizes yet but I can imagine both the surprise and joy that came from that realization. I really like Calvin Klein in that their fit model (like Diane Von Furstenburg) has normal sized proportions so a size 6 or 8 in their clothes really is "true to size". Congratulations!
congratulations!
I have a question though. How do you know what number you are? Is like a size 10 a certain number of centemeters(inches) around the waist? Are sizes different for men than they are for women?
Sorry, its just that when it comes to shopping.. I hate it but now I realize that I should do some of it seeing as I havent purchased anything new since about two years ago.
whoo hoo!
thanks, lisabeth. it is very exciting!
yay jewels! i'm a big fan of levi strauss, too. have you discovered the outlet stores? you can order via email: my last two pair of jeas were only $30 each (plus shipping and handling, of course, but still almost 50% less than retail).

i'm sure there's a correlation between size and waist/hip measurement, but i can't say exactly what it is. yes, sizes are completely different for men and women; as far as i know, men's clothes are almost always sized according to chest, waist, neck, arm, and leg measurement; women's clothes are not as dependable.
Sweet! Thanks for the tip Pg.
Woohoo! That's awesome pg. I just wished I shopped at CK full stop ;)
My thighs are always too round for CK jeans. Even when I was 97 lbs - to get my thighs to fit the butt and waist would be huge. I am envious. But only because you have slim thighs.
Is it possible to have a size 6 butt and a size 10 thigh? lol

oh, it wasn't at CK. i should have clarified so people dont' think i'm having delusions of grandeur. no, the CK dresses were at winners, which might be a canadian entity. it's a store that buys up overstocks and stuff from places going out of business and sells it on the cheap. got a pair of nice rockport shoes there for $50.
Hey that is awesome !!
Always good to see results.
CK makes it official. :) Good job Pg.

I just read a magazine article that said size 0 is comparable to the waist circumference of a 7 year old.

i'm sure there are 7-year-olds for whom that's true, but they're big ones.

Women's clothing sizes are variable. Different brands will use different measurements.

oh, cool! so i no longer have to be jealous that we don't have TJ Maxx (i wasn't. just sayin' i don't have to be).
i have to say, the winners on cambie in vancouver is far superior to the one in prince george. there was no calvin klein in prince george, and no rockports either.
