Is there anyone else here that has had a baby recently. My son is 4 months old (born in June 06) and I returned to work when he was 2 months old. With 4 children total, I am very busy and have a hard time taking time for me. I would like some other postpartum moms to keep in contact with so we can support each other as we try to trim off the excess weight, be healthy, while being so incredibly busy.
I am 36 yrs old, 5'1, weigh 185 lb and want to lose 50 lbs. I want to eat nutriously, which is my main goal, but also really need to get back into shape.
I think it is easier to stick to something like weight loss when you hold your self accountable with others...anyone want to join in?
Edit: 10/27/06 Any moms can join even though this thread has already been going and has a great group of moms so far! Just post and we'll have an even larger group of us here supporting each other. And even if you don't have a new baby, that's okay too! We're a supportive group so feel free to join in!

I'm excited to see so many new moms! Welcome everyone. I will have to catch up later and any new moms can add me to their friends list. I am getting back to good eating tomorrow and plan to challenge myself. So here's my challenge for the week to come.
- Drink lots of water (I stopped drinking water in December)
- Do abs 3 X this week, with butt burner (it's somewhere in this link)
- Do exercises 3 X this week (probably DDR that my kids got...at least something)
Anyone else want to challenge yourself, place it here. I'll let you know next Wednesday how I did...I definitely need the encouragement!

Hi ladies! I haven't been able to read all of the posts on this thread, but wanted to join in! ;-) I am 28 and a mommy of 2 girls. My oldest is almost 3, and my youngest just turned 1.
When I got pregnant the first time, I was about 35lbs. over an "ideal" weight for myself. I then gained almost 50lbs. with that pregnancy, and didn't lose much after it. I became a stay at home mom, so my activity level was lower than it was when I was working. After my first daugther turned 1, I decided that I needed to do something, so I bought a treadmill, and lost 25lbs. Then I got pregnant again with my second. I just started CC the beginning of July and have lost 44lbs. so far. I have lost all of the weight I gained from both pregnancies, and am working towards getting down to the weight I was before I got married (135). I have 33lbs to go.
Hope to meet some nice mommies on here! :-)

Hello fellow mommies!
My name is Megan and I'm 27 years old, from Kansas, recently moved back from Atlanta. I had my first baby in December 2005, she just turned one on December 23rd. I am trying to lose about 20 lbs. The baby weight came off, but did you ever notice even if you lose the pregnancy weight your body shape looks different than before. I am now trying to lose the weight I needed to lose before I got pregnant. When I got pregnant I was participating in a "diet challenge" at work and was in the lead with 10 pounds lost. I think that made me more fertile, I was eating healthy and had lost some fat and low and behold my husband and I had a baby on the way. Needless to say I didn't win that diet challenge, I obviously had to stop because I wasn't taking in enough calories to support a baby in utero. I've lost four pounds so far this time around. I am 5'7" currently 161lbs. and am shooting for a healthy 143lbs. I like to be a little curvy, not to thin, I always appreciated my moms soft belly when I was little. I remember specifically getting mad when she said she was going to lose weight. I must have been five or so, she was rocking me and said she was going to lose her belly and I protested. I liked the padding, it kept me safe and warm. I'm new to the site, so feel free to add me to your friends.

just checking in - I'm still counting calories, but I'm adding 300 to my intake :) :) :) [can ya guess why?]
so I plan to continue to exercise every day, but moderately...cardio and strength / core training. Luckily there's a gym at work that i can go to at lunch. I've talked w/ the instructors and they're watching me but I know my limits!

HI EVERYONE! I'm back. My story is in my journal if anyone wants to know! Missed you all, and I'm seeing some new names! Yipee! I wish i had the time to catch up on your journals. I'll try, but no promises, I'm still trying to find the time to exercise again.
Hi all! Just got clued in to this sight! Glad to see I am not alone! Her is a summary of me...
I am 25 years old, I am 5'1 and weigh 137. All through highscool I was overweight...around 160...then after my first son in 1999 I lost about 20 pounds. I go up and down with depression and ended up gaining it all back plus a few... after I left his father and moved out on my own I got back down to the 145 and felt great even though that was still overweight for my height...I met my present boyfriend and in 2004 got pregnant with my second son. After I had him though I lost a bunch and was down to 120. I made myself gain 5 pounds and was very happy with my body at 125. Low and behold...2005 I get pregnant again...this time a big surprise...I had my daughter in May 2006 and gained 25 pounds during the pregnancy. She is now 7 1/2 months and I am at 137. I HATE IT! I cannot fit into any of my clothes...and i can't afford to buy a whole new wardrobe, especially with plans to lose it all...or most of it. Right now I am counting calories although I haven't started a regular excercise routine yet...but I just feel like I am doomed. Hopefully, this sight will help...

Can I join in too? I just found this site. I am 5'2 31 years old and I had my first baby Dec 21, 2005. She just turned 1 and I weigh the same amount now as I did when I was 9 months pregnant. I am currently 139lbs. I'd like to get down to 118ish. I'd like to have another baby soon but would like to loose some of this weight first. I'm looking forward to some of your suggestions because I feel as if I am stuck and the scale just won't even budge one tenth of a lb.

Hi everyone, I am new to this site . I am 40 and had my 4th child (surprise)in Aug/06. The last 3 children were in five years so I did plenty of damage to this body recently;) According to this site I need to lose about 50 #. OMG, i said that out loud. I used to be a size 4 now I am 10/12. CC states that I should be around 127. I was 138 when prior to the last 3 pg and I was happy with that. I would like to be at least a 6. One step at a time. Lets get at least 10# off. I am only 5'3. I did take off the weight I gained with this pregnancy: however, I had gained weight prior to it on top of weight that I never lost from the other ones. Oh my! Like other moms with large broods, it is hard to find time for yourself. I also work (part time thank god). It just becomes so difficult to schedule me time . This year I need to break old habits and find those "me" times. I need to be healthier and wiser. I would like to lose it within the year. My neice gets married next year. Hear's to a great NEW YEAR!

HEy all,
I am a mom of 3, youngest 6 months.. I need support for my weight loss.. ( which is 106 lbs all together) from all 3 of my children. my husband nor my family beleives I can do it anymore because of so many other failed attempts from fad diets....I have not had luck in the past with weight loss until stumbling upon this website and started to count my calories. My dr had at one time sent me to a nutritionalist that put me on a 1500 calorie diet... AND I GAINED WEIGHT... started exercising and packed on still another 15 pounds of fat. my top weight was a wopping 264 lbs.. from being 118 lbs before getting pregnant with my frst child 8 years ago and then adding on a whole other person I have virtually become unrecognizable to my old friends that I have not seen in years.. now being at 226 ( lost 7 pounds since joining this site) I now am becoming more active trying to exercise atleast 3 days a week and watching everything I eat. I have converted my household to whole grains and got rid of the refined processed foods for the most part. with little kids int he house its hard to get rid of all of it ;)
with an ultimate goal of 135 pounds.. I would be happy with 150 because I dont know who the person looking back at me in the mirror is.. I am hoping by joining this thread that I will gain the support that I need to accomplish my goal. and hopefully regain the self esteem and self image I once had.

I know how you feel because i been there too, before i had my kids i was 119lbs and than i had my first kid and went up to 157 after 3 months i got pregnant with my second baby and thats when my body got out of control. After i had my second baby i was 168lbs and i did try a few diets and excercises but i failed because i was so weak that i couldnt keep up . One day my husbands friend recomended me to herbalife and that is what changed my life , i lost 44lbs on less than 3 months . If you need any information from me just let me know i can refer you to my coach .
Take care
christianrockchick-i am a new mommy. my son was born 7 months ago and i am trying to shed all the extra lbs. this is my 2st baby and boy, how a womans body changes after pregnancy! i have lost 41.5lbs so far and want to lose another 30lbs. fortuentally, i am still at home with my son but will be returning to work when i finally find a job! hang in there. count those calories and try to squeeze in some sort of fitness whenever you can. i only have one child...i cant even imagine 4! good luck!!
lilbutafly, I was breastfeeding when I started on this site and after determining what my allowance was, I realized while breastfeeding that it wasn't enough. I looked on the le leche league site for advice and determined that I should stay at 1500-1600 cals which worked for me and I did lose some weight. Now I'm at 1263 cals for my allowance on this site to reach my goal. Some of the other moms here are breastfeeding too so you can ask advice since you're just getting started. I added you to my friends list :)
