This isn't a question on what foods are good pre/post workout haha, I am already familiar with that. The problem I am having is that I plan to eat my preworkout meal (not just a snack but a meal considering it will be a while before I get to the gym) on my walk between classes, so that I can work out after class. That means I can't have any of my usual foods, such as oatmeal, eggs, etc. Basically I need stuff I can throw into my bag that will last. Any ideas? I'm thinking about covering the protein with just a protein shake made in a water bottle haha. For carbs I was thinking maybe apple/cereal, or something alone those lines. But I'm definitely looking for more ideas. If I go cereal, do you think cheerios/corn flakes? I'd prefer Kashi but it's way too expensive to eat everyday on my college budget. I'd also prefer to not use meal bars if possible.

I do a protein shake in a water bottle (just put the powder in it and put the water in right before you drink it, you don't wanna mix it before class then drink it afterward), and a salt free rice cake with peanut butter. Some people find them really dry, but for me the combination of a chocolate protein shake and peanut butter rice cake...mmm. And easy to eat on the run. If you eat in a dining hall every once in a while, get a tupperware and fill up on peanut butter so you don't have to buy it (lol that's what I do), and rice cakes are pretty cheap (if you don't like rice cakes, whole wheat bread works and you can also get that from your dining hall). Let me know if you come up with any other ideas, I have the same problem!
haha I'm with you on the water bottle protein shakes..I did these all last year after my workouts when I didn't have time to go back to the dorm before class....
rice cakes are a good idea, I hadn't thought about those. Although I must say that I am weird in that I don't like the combo of peanut butter and chocolate together. And I hear ya on stocking up from the dining hall..I take as much fresh fruit back with me as I can. I also thought about something else..whole wheat mini bagels could work. I wouldn't be able to toast them, but whatever, I don't really care.

I also have the same problem - need a pre-workout meal to go. Lately I've been doing a couple tbsp of sunflower seeds and a bit of fruit or veggies. The seeds have lots of protein and fill you up, and you get some carbs from the fruit and veggies.
