preferred protein drinks?
anyone here drink protein drinks before/after working out?
I've tried some stuff like muscle milk or ensure: protein stuff. Not sure what works best though. Any recommendations?
Also, for any nutrition experts, any comments on the fat content that comes along with these drinks? The muscle mlik bottles make a little comment at the bottom about how the type of fat in their product is easily burned with exercise and not stored in the body usually. that sounds so sketchy.
any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!
Spiru-tein with soy milk (or skim) (it's high fiber too)
8 oz plain yogurt with 1 scoop cytogainer and fresh raspberries in the blender- higher cal and on the sour side but I like it
I found a product that I like a lot and it's super convenient....
IDS New Whey Protein Shot. It's a shot (about 3 oz.) and contains 42 grams of protein without fat or carbs. It comes in 3 or 4 flavors and doesn't taste too terrible! It's only a shot, so how bad can it really be??
I use it pre or post workout, but really find it great for use as a protein part of a meal. Natural cereal in the morning with 1/2 a shot. Perfect when you can't make a full meal. Also, it doesn't need to be refrigerated. I keep one in my desk for emergencies!
I second the vote for SPIRU-TEIN, high energy protein drink. But I just make mine with water (about 24 oz), & blend it with a little ice. I think it gets pretty thick if I don't use a lot of water & I like it icy cold. I usually grind up some flax seed and toss that in too.
I love Spiru-tein (the NOT whey one) - and I drink it every morning to get me going! It's about 100 calories a scoop, 0 fat, 14 g protein. Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl, Cookies & Cream, Cookie Dough are some of my favs- but it comes in all sorts of fruits too. I bet there are at least 20 different flavors... Good stuff!
