Pregnancy nausea vs sickness nausea?

Quote  |  Reply

All pregnant / ever been pregnant ladies,

Would you say that the nausea you felt during your pregnancy felt different than the one you feel when you have the flu/ate something bad?

Was there anything specific you noticed that made you sick less / more?

Well all three my pregnancies were different. Different food and smells made me sick each time. When I felt sick during my pregnancies if I ate something or threw up I generally felt immediately better. When I have the flu I feel like crap no matter what I do.

I have to agree. Each of my pregnancies were different. The first one I was sick one time and that was it. The second one, the thought of ANYTHING general made me nauseous (even water!). I only vomited once during my second pregnancy but the food aversions/nausea persisted for the first 10 weeks. I pretty much felt nauseous around the clock and probably would have felt better after throwing up.

Typically when I have eaten something bad or have a stomach bug there's more than just nausea. I'll have stomach cramps with the nausea. As far as the nausea itself goes, it all feels the same to me.

Honestly, I wouldn't know. The last time I threw up (before my pregnancy) it was my body reacting to waking up from being put under, and my pain meds I was given after I had my wisdom teeth taken out. I was 18 at the time and it had been years since I last thrown up before that.

Though I will say I immediately felt better after throwing up. I don't remember what it was like when I was sick as a kid, though.

I got sick A LOT through my pregnancy. Usually it kicked in 1st thing in the morning (classic) but often 15-30 minutes after eating lunch or dinner, too. And like the other girls said, I felt (almost) immediately better after vomiting. Whereas being sick you still usually still feel like crap after you throw-up.

I hope you aren't sick, hon. Good luck!
