I am currently 5 pounds heavier than I was when I gave birth to our first Baby 8 months ago. We are wanting to start number 2 but I think that if I don't get this weight off first (I am really trying to) I will only get heavier and be stuck with more. Is that true or would I be able to stay at about the same weight as the Baby grew and then hopefully loose it after Baby #2 is born?
First of all, you shouldn't try to NOT gain weight during pregnancy even if you are overweight. It's only recommended by doctors of obese patients that undergo CONSTANT monitoring to make sure mom and baby are healthy. I think if you're concerned for health reasons, you should discuss it with your doctor.
That being said, I (like puh8suwrux) didn't gain as much during my second pregnancy and lost it more quickly. After my first was born, I never got back down to my pre-pregnancy weight because I was almost underweight before pregnancy. I did get back down to the middle of the healthy weight range for my height between pregnancies (3 years apart). I gained about 40 pounds with my second pregnancy and lost it all by 4-5 months postpartum.
Ulitmately, you should discuss your concerns with your doctor before taking any action. Good luck!
