Pregnant or just had a baby
I am 6 weeks pregnant with my second child....my first is only 14 months old. I am still trying to lose the last 15 pounds from when I had him. This time around I am trying to do better. I have still been eating low calorie and working out. But I eat when I'm hungry now, just really healthy stuff. I plan on continuing to walk on the treadmill 4 or 5 days a week for 45 min during the whole pregnancy. I hope I am able to, I remember how out of breath I got with pregnancy # 1. I didnt exercise though, I was a size 4 when I got pregnant with him! How many calories are you eating? I dont want to cut back too much since its so important for the baby. But I also know that I dont need to "eat for two" like I did last time!
I just started this service today, so I am still learning the ropes. ![]()
Up to my 20 week appointment I thought things were going well, then I started down the 1 pound a week, which is good according to my midwife, so I was not stressing to much about it, on the 32 week appointment I went up 8 pounds in 4 weeks. So at this point I started to panic. I think tracking what I eat will help me eat healthier. I have started to do some little switches like switching breakfast cereals and trying to find better snacks to eat during the day. I don't think the calculator on here takes into account that I am pregnant, so I am adding 300 calories to there recommendations, We will see what happens at my next weigh in (36 weeks) Good luck, any suggestions on what is working for you would be great! Thanks! -K
Hi everyone! I am 29 weeks pregnant as of now and I'm starting to get worried about my weight gain. I've already gained 24 lbs. My doc says that i souldn't gain more than 35 lbs total throughout this pregnancy, which i guess is still possible, but i'm having a really hard time eating the right things.
I was on CC before when I was overweight (before i got pregnant), and I was quite successful. I lost about 20-25 lbs and gained a healthy lifestyle, but my habbits have taken a turn for the worst. I really need to get into gear and get healthier cause i want my baby to be happy and healthy. Maybe we could make a group for us preggo's, for support and stuff... What do you think? I know could sure use the help.
And Congrats to everyone! Anyone who want to talk feel free to message me.
My baby (#2) is 10 months old! I gained 50 pounds with my very hard pregnancy (could not exercise). I'm breastfeeding & 39 years old.
Well, this site is a winner with keeping me honest. Logging food & exercise helps. When I follow it, I lose weight. When I ignore it, I don't. I've lost 15 pounds since using it, but have the last 10 pounds to go.
Everyone, keep up the good work. It's nice to have this site to help take care of me.
Wish it had more nutrition help for breastfeeding, and calorie/activity log for calories expended. But, I understand that's hard to gauge.
Keep your weight loss gradual, especially if you're breastfeeding. Going to thin too quick can cause toxins stored in your fat to flood your milk. I also keep my carbs higher than normal. I seem to need the energy. Without carbs, I'm a sleepy bum.
Good Luck to everyone!
the silverstar121,
I think a pregnancy/ post pregnancy group would be a great idea, not sure how this all works to get one set up. Do you know how to set one up?
Congrates to all the new moms!!!

Okay, since this is my first baby, I have a question for all of you that have given birth.
About how much weight do you loose once you have the baby?
-K
Here's a site that has three columns for nutritional information, normal, lactating, pregnant.
I think the best way to set up a support group on CC is to get e-mail notifications about replies to a particular post that's of interest and also to add each other as buddies so you can see your journals. You can organize your groups of friends and add a pregnancy grouping if you want to.
At this time, I don't think that there are any plans to add a forum.
smwhipple,
Thanks! that calculator is great.
I have added everone as friends, so please feel free to do the same.
How do you get the email notifications about posts?
-K
okay nevermind I see the email notification box on the post reply,
Thanks!!!
You can also "tag" specific posts that are of interest in different categories that you decide on yourself. It works like the food tags, but it puts the link to the post in a handy spot.
Glad you like the site. Um, I should clarify, I'm not pregnant, never have been
, but I ran across this site doing some vitamin and mineral research for me so I thought I'd share.
Feel free to add me as a friend, I'm friendly and I like having friends. ![]()
Thank you for the site link! I think I had gotten too excited about losing weight and cut my calories too low! According to the site, I was WAY off. I'm going to go somewhere in the middle-- manageable so I can eat plenty and take care of the baby. That is what is is all about, right?? I'll lose the weight slowly and actually keep it off if I change my eating patterns rather than "diet."
Sahuskey,
I am using the CC to track the calories, but using the calories burned from the link smwhipple sent. Right now it says I am burning 2400 in my 3rd trimester, with no exercise. so I am trying to keep my calories, about 1950-2100.
We will see what happens at the next midwife appointment. (Dec 19.) That will be the test. :)
Good luck, let me know if you have any positive results.

katherineann1,
I have had great results...my coworkers & I decided we were tired of "one day, I'll get in shape" and "oh, I'm so out of shape" so we started a biggest loser type contest. Every Monday, we weigh in (none of us care if the others know our weight, so we just keep it on a chart). We can stay the same or lose, but if we gain, we pay a dollar. We are only doing 14 weeks to start, so the most we'll pay is $14. We don't know exactly what we win, but it's not really about the money.
I lost 2 pounds the first week keeping my calories at 1500-1700. Then, I realized (with the help of the counter link) that I was way too low. So, I've been keeping them around 2000. Last week, I lost another pound. Even if I lose a pound each week, I'll be 14 pounds lighter by the end! So far, so good...
...keep us posted on your appointment!
