For the past couple months, I have counted my calories daily.  I started at 180 and am now 145 lbs.  At the very least, I eat 1200 calories per day and I run on the treadmill for 30 minutes per day.  Both 6 days a week with one cheat day.

I am now pregnant, and very afraid of going back to my former eating habits, as I did with my 1st pregnancy and gained 70 pounds.  Can anybody let me know if there is a way that I can check to see that I will be getting enough calories while I am pregnant.  I am having trouble finding help with this.  Thanks.

I would try the pregnancy and parenting forum.  While the gals there might tell you to ask your doctor, you'll get better advice there.  Good luck!

Congrats on the pregnancy (and the weight loss pre-pregnancy)!

How far along are you?  Have you been to the doctor yet?

Here is are a couple calculators that you can use:

And here is a good article to check out:

Most websites will recommend eating at least your maintenance calories during the first trimester, add 300 calories during your second, and then 300-500 during your third.  But again, it varies so the best person to talk to would be your doctor.

I think the most important thing to remember is that extra calories need to be healthy choices and not just extra calories. Get the most outta your diet. Splurges are one thing, but the kinda weight you gain during pregnancy is more important than how much.

Just think if you gained a pound; do you want it to be from a sugar filled donut binge...or pack with protien and nutrients from peanut butter covered cinnamon grahams? I would feel better about the latter...ya know?

Congratulations on your pregnancy. How far are you?

Before becoming pregnant, I ate about 1900 calories a day and exercised about 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week. I now eat 1900 calories a day and don't exercise other than walking around the neighborhood. I have very little energy because I am moderately anemic (I can't imagine how tired I would be if I were severly anemic...yikes!). I agree with the "quality not quantity" of calories you eat. I eat tons of fruits to satisfy my sweet tooth and lots of whole grains for the fiber. I'm not saying I don't splurge because I definitely eat a bowl of ice cream every night however, it's light and I only eat about 1/2 a cup. Just keep eating how you have been, just add some more of the good stuff to your diet!

Congratulations!

Thanks so much for the information, i am going to look at these sites.  I just found out I am pregnant, so I am only a few weeks along.
