Who here is pregnant?
I'm trying to think of potentially helpful posts for the pregnant population, and I'd like to get a feel for how many of us are out there in CC land. :)
So...who here is an expectant mom or dad? How far along are you? Is this your first child? Tell us about yourselves!
I'll start off...My name is Cecily and I'm 9 weeks, 3 days pregnant with my second child. I have one son who's nearly 2, and I can't wait to hold my new baby, too! I'm not really counting calories anymore, just eatting a little above maintenance.
Now, how about you???
I just found out this weekend that I'm pregnant, so I guess I'm only 2 or so weeks along because I only just missed my period (I should be halfway through that 5 days). I'm going to be moving back into my boyfriends apartment soon. My best friend has a baby and he's almost 9 months old, so she's going to be giving me some baby clothes and a book entitled "What to expect the first year" as well as some advice. I hope I have a girl!
Judging by when the baby was conceived, the odds are good it will be a girl (going by what I read about the sperm carrying female genes live longer than the ones carrying male genes, and I conceived about 4 days before ovulation -- yes, I keep a record lol).
Our baby, regardless of gender, we decided -- or more like I dictated -- his/her name will be given a Saiyan name from Dragonball Z. It was my childhood favourite tv show, and still is my favourite!
I like the name Broly (after Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan). Sounds masculin at first but when you get used to it, it could be a girls name. Besides, my name is Cody and I love it. lol. I think it would make for a cute name, also simple yet different.
I'm Stephanie, I'm 31 weeks pregnant, and this is my first child...
That said, I'm pretty excited to get through the next 9 or 10 weeks, meet this little bean, and get started on recovering my old body! I joined CC in July 06, lost 15 pounds and was maintaining through July 07 when I conceived...I've gained 28 pounds so far (a few more than I intended, but early pregnancy hunger and cravings got the best of me!). I'm hoping to gain no more than 10 more pounds from here. Feel free to add me to your friends lists...I journal a lot about my pregnancy and struggles with body image, etc, so if you need a companion in the journey, I'm here for you.
It is totally up to you on when to start telling people. With my first pregnancy, I wanted to wait until after the first trimester, but I realized that was going to be really hard to do because I was so excited, I just wanted to tell everyone. :) Something else I thought about....my friend had had a miscarriage just before I got pregnant. I decided that I wanted to go ahead and tell everyone right away because if something happened and I miscarried, I'd want to be able to talk about it. I thought it would be easier to tell people what had happened if they knew I was pregnant in the first place. But that's just me. Some people might not want to discuss something so traumatic with others. I just didn't think I'd be able to grieve by myself if something had happened.
I wish i found a thread lik this back in July!! I am 34 weeks pregnant with my 1st , due 3/13. I just came on here outta curiosity, i really miss counting & grading my meals! seriously! I just didn't want to be watching all the #'s while I'm supposed to be gaining ;)
So far i am up 30 lbs. At 1st i wasn't eating the reccomended just cuz I was so used to eating 1500. Now.....well i just finished a delicious bowl of orange sherbert/vanilla ice cream!
As for telling people i hear a lot of people wait, i wish i had. My big mouth dad told everyone as soon as I found out which was 6 weeks. I was always worried something would happen & I would have to share my grief .
Lots of discussions & you get into your own month / year groups.
Hi all. I'm a dad and we are having number 3. My girlfriend is 7 months along and she is doing great. The baby in my pic is my daughter at 3 months i think...hmmm cant remeber.
Good luck!
I'm really happy that there is a pregnancy section! As soon as I found out I was pregnant, i was googleing to see if there is any safe pregnancy diets that can make not gain any weight! how sad! because there is non out there! i came to the conclusion, that I need take care of myself and the baby. Eat healthy, walk alot and stay sane!
I'm going into my 9th week of pregnancy... And excited!
Hi everyone! My name is Rae. I'm 24 weeks, 5 days pregnant with my first child. I just joined CC because of my excessive weight gain during the pregnancy. I was underweight before I conceived, wasn't eating regularly. Since I became pregnant, I've changed my eating habits maybe a little too much and have already gained 35 pounds. I'm normally a vegetarian but I'm eating fish and seafood (w/ low mercury levels of course) during the pregnancy to ensure we're getting enough omega-3s and protein. I eat pretty healthy, but the doctor says I'm eating too much... so here I am trying to maintain my weight by counting calories and exercising more regularly so we can be healthy. I'm really excited about my baby boy! Congrats to all you other preggies out there!
Congratulations, everyone!
I just found out on Saturday that I'm pregnant with child number two. My first is a 3 year old daughter whom I adore! I haven't been to the doctor yet but he told me over the phone he thought I was about 5 weeks along. According to when I ovulated, my husband and I think I'm only about 3 weeks.
I gained way too much weight during the first pregnancy and still haven't lost it all. Too late now! I am still counting calories because (if my doctor agrees) I'd only like to gain 15-20 pounds this pregnancy. My first pregnancy, I ate junk food galore and really let myself go. This time around, I'm more educated on eating habits and will (hopefully) gain weight off the right foods which will, in turn, make it easier to lose.
I am so excited!
I am 21 weeks pregnant (3rd pregnancy). We had a hard time conceiving and went through a bunch of infertility treatments and got pregnant back in 2003 and had a miscarriage. Got pregnant right away and made it to 32 weeks to have an emergency c-section. Our daughter was born with a rare chromosomal disorder called Trisomy 13 and she only lived for 1 day. Her name was Rylee Grace.
After losing our daughter, I sought comfort in food and gained a bunch of weight. Recently both my husband and I have lost 80 pounds each. We found out we were pregnant in October after our annual vacation to the Smoky Mountains. I am excited and nervous. I still am worried that something will happen and I don't know if I can go through that again. The hardest part was leaving the hospital without our baby.
At this point, I don't know how much I have gained. I know it is probably more than I should but this kid is HUNGRY. I need to start eating better, but I have such HUGE cravings for chocolate. I have probably gained 20+ pounds already.
Another hard part is that it is so cold and I can't get outside to walk. I love to walk and used to walk several miles every day. I can't wait until Spring when it is nice again. Maybe the weight gain will slow down by then. I just figure as long as I am healthy, the baby is healthy, all is good. I lost the weight before, I can lose it again.
So, now that you all know my life story... :o)
I tend to babble. Oh, by the way, we are having a boy! Had one of those 4d ultrasounds done, and it was awesome to see him in action.
Our due date is June 24th.
Erin :o)
By the way...I am the dad to the baby above...![]()
