Who here is pregnant?
I'm trying to think of potentially helpful posts for the pregnant population, and I'd like to get a feel for how many of us are out there in CC land. :)
So...who here is an expectant mom or dad? How far along are you? Is this your first child? Tell us about yourselves!
I'll start off...My name is Cecily and I'm 9 weeks, 3 days pregnant with my second child. I have one son who's nearly 2, and I can't wait to hold my new baby, too! I'm not really counting calories anymore, just eatting a little above maintenance.
Now, how about you???
Hi everyone, I just found out i'm pregnant last week, i'm 5 weeks. I'm 37 and it will be my first baby.It wasn't planned as I have several health problems including a blood clot on the brain and so we weren't gonna start trying until we got a clear MRI and i'd lost more weight, however even though we know it won't be the easiest pregnancy, we are both very happy.
What is everyone eating for their calorie intake? maintanance or above?
Hello All -
I just found out I am pregnant. Approximately 8 weeks and a couple days. I wanted to join caloriecount because I'm so use to it. I lost 60pounds with Weight Watchers and was looking to lose my last 15 when I found out I was pregnant. I don't want to completely backtrack and wanted to keep track in order make sure I wasn't completely spinning out of control (and so I won't have as hard of a time as some of my friends taking the weight back off). Right now it has been hard because all I seem to want to eat is frozen thin crust pizza (and last night I just HAD to have apple pie al a mode). I have already gained between 5 and 7 lbs which to mee seems like a lot in 8 weeks, but I'm not sure. I am sad my newly size 8 work pants are already too tight.
Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?
I also just found out two weekends ago I'm preggers. It's my first, and I'm 27. So far the pregnancy has been easy. I'm about 6 weeks along, and I have a weird craving for pesto, but have been trying to eat super healthy because two people I know have had miscarriages, and now that we are on the baby track, I kind of want to stay on it. The father is super excited. I guess easy pregnancies run in my family, so I hope it continues on this route.
I had lost 5 lbs using this site in about two weeks before I knew I was pregnant. I've almost gained it all back (plus I was vaca not really calorie counting when I found out, so I think that might be most of the weight gain). I'm hoping to lose weight just by eating healthy foods while pregnant, but I am eating lost of healthy snacks all day long so I don't get too lightheaded! Anyone else get lightheaded or dizzy since they've been pregnant? I'm going to the doctor tomorrow for the first time, and I'll be asking him about it. I got dizzy a couple times before I knew I was pregnant, and drinking my usual intake of caffiene, I figure now I was probably dehydrating myself.
I'm 32, pregnant with my first, currently 37 weeks 4 days, due March 15th.
I had a hard time with food for the first several months, from January to June of last year I lost 40 pounds, and I didn't want to gain it all back, but after months of trying to eat enough without eating too much, I threw the whole "plan" out the window, I eat when I need to, I've gained A LOT, but I have the tools I need to lose it again once the baby arrives. I did have troubles with dizzy spells and heartburn and lack of energy, until I figured out I wasn't getting enough food to keep me going... I started eating more, when my body was telling me to, and that's made everything a lot easier to cope with.
I'm 5'9" and went from 199 last January to 159 last June (which put me well into the "healthy BMI" range), and now I'm up to 215, so I've gained 56 pounds and I've got 2 weeks to go.
I've had a pretty good pregnancy, no morning sickness, but I did get quite a few other nasty little "side effects". I'm really looking forward to getting my body back though! Not much longer for me now!
Also bfeeding is a learned skill and lots of mums dont just naturally fall into it. Consult a lactition consultant take bfeeding classes and remember the faster baby to breast after delivery the better. Dont let anyone tell you, you dont have enough milk as long as baby is soiling/wetting 8 diapers a day intake is good. Remember a good latch is most important. Bring baby all the way up to breast not the other way around.
ok im rambling Congrats to all you pregnant CCers
Hi. I am currently six months pregnant with my second child. I have a daughter named Angelina, who is four, and am now expecting another girl!
I've just started counting calories, to curb excessive weight gain. I am naturally thin, and can usually eat whatever, but when I'm pregnant I just seem to pack on the pounds. Last time around I gained over 70 pounds! It came off eventually, but I know that much weight gain is unhealthy, so I'm trying to straighten myself out this time, lol.
Basically, I'm just eating a bit above what I need to maintain normally, like you. It has been an eye opener to keep track of what I eat, and its really helped me to make healthier choices.
I'm due June 22, and I can't wait.
Hi!! Wow ... we have a lot in common, aside from I have a boy who just turned four and am expecting a boy again. I gained 70 with mine the last time around also and lost it, but hated all the work it took to do so. I am 5'10" and never have to watch what I eat, until I'm pregnant apparently, and then everything sticks. :( I've gained 20 lbs already!! And am 6 months prego ... due June 25. How much have you gained so far? Well, congrats!
It's sooooo weird to go from dieting to eating more! My calorie goal is about 2400/ day which seemed crazy until I started logging everything in. I'm really close every day.
Hello. I'm 17 weeks pregnant with my second child. I have a three and a half year old daughter, and am pregnant now with a boy. I gained 60 pounds when I was carrying my daughter; it took three years for me to lose it all. So far, I've gained 17 pounds. I try to focus on not eating when I'm not hungry, and stopping when I'm full. Hunger is not a bad thing - it's a cue for the body to eat. Allowing myself to be hungry more now has made eating more enjoyable for me. Even with pregnancy, allowing myself to get hungry before eating makes me feel better. And the baby is doing just fine!
How long has it taken others to lose weight after having their babies? At a certain point, there's just doesn't seem to be anymore motivation to lose weight when you have a warm bundle of joy cuddling up to you, no matter what your weight is.
Checking back in at just shy of 10 weeks. I have gained about 4 lbs. It is really depressing. I stay nauseus, so working out is out of the question. I haven't thrown up once, but man I have felt bad. Hopefully that will pass soon and I can get a fitness routine back in place. ![]()
The father of the baby has pretty much told me that he doesn't want anything to do with me but he is willing to pay child support, at least that is what he says NOW. I am willing to be that he is going to try weasel his way out of it when it comes to time to actually starting writing the monthly checks!
I am excited for the next doctor's appointment because they are going to look to see if they can see the sex of the child. I have a strong feeling that it is a boy, but really I want a girl. But as long at it is healthy that if fine either way. So far this baby has been very healthy!
First off, CECILY!! Not sure if you remember me from last year, but CONGRATS on your pregnancy!! And congrats to everyone else as well.
I am 39 weeks pregnant with my 4th boy, he does NOT have a name yet, but I am looking forward to meeting him hopefully in the next couple weeks. I stopped in here at CC in preparation for joining up here again once he's born so I can lose the baby weight. I should have stopped by sooner and could have participated on this board a little more.
HI,
I'm a single new mommy to be. I am not 5 months along and now sure how i feel right now. i am worried about gaining weight as i had already gained 8 lbs before i got pregnant. I am scared about being a single mom and going through my last trimester alone. My pregnancy other than acid reflux problems has been ok. I have been surprised to find some messages out where women 5 months along are not showing at all. I was wearing a belly band with my clothes open during the 2nd and 3rd month. By the fifth month there was no hiding it. i popped out. Not huge but it's popping out already.
yes dear my wife is 9 months pregnant and this will be our first child. If u have any good tips so please share with us.
I am. :)
