The pregnant man is happy to be pregnant again.

That's nice I guess. But I am sorry, this person is not physically a "man"...if you have eggs, a uterus and you are still using them...you are biologically a female and doing those female things. I am kind of annoyed that they are sensationalizing this...like they are breaking all barriers or something. In reality, I could be a "pregnant man" too if I cut off my breasts, took enough hormones and grew a beard.
Call it what it is...a trans-gender female (male) who wants to be a man, but who still wants to utilize her/his female goodies for reproduction.
It's all so confusing.
...and i think the media attention reflects the same thing as the reality-TV phenomenon. some people--for whatever reason--just want to be on TV.
edit: right, 'gator. and there's the money.
(voiceover): Guests of The Oprah Winfrey Show stay at the elegant Omni Hotel, located on Chicago's miracle mile.
"the media attention is a separate issue. if that's what you disagree with, say so."
I didn't think I was beating around the bush about this. My point from the beginning is that the story is a lie. That any media outlet other than the National Inquirer has run the story baffles me. But I think this man shares the responsibility for perpetuating the lie.
To quote p0nda, "That isn't news. I find this particular man to be an attention seeking media whore (for lack of a better term) - that has nothing to do with my opinions (or lack thereof) about people who were born a different sex. If they were on Jerry Springer instead of Oprah this wouldn't have even made it on to the news radar.
Now if we had a woman who was born as a man giving birth - that would be news."
i get that the headlines and teasers have been misleading, for those who believe tabloid headlines and sensational TV teasers. but it's not "a lie" to say that he's a man and he's pregnant.
"It's also fairly easy to imagine going public to make a little dough off the novelty- kids are 'spensive. :)"
But what so novel about it? I guess that the part of the story I missing, the part that makes it novel.
"but it's not "a lie" to say that he's a man and he's pregnant."
Ok, I'am a woman and I fathered two children. This is true because I say it's true and no one else has the right to judge me. (Hey, I want to stay at the Omni too.)
novelty that can be spiced up with the right headline - most women who undergo surgery and become a man don't later agree to become pregnant and have children
apparently some people think it's novel enough.

as for the bathroom question and other technicalities - please. do we debate the truth of physical disabilities with this argument? no. we build accessible bathrooms, ramps, and automatic doors. we don't ask people to fit the structure; we change the structure to fit the people.
But how do we change the structure to fit people in this situation, pg? Add third bathrooms for people who identify with both sexes? Make it a rule that as long as you are dressed as a man, you can go into the men's and as long as you are dressed as a woman, you can go into the women's? What about the pervert who is truly a man, in body and mind, but decides he wants to "say" he is a woman so that he can get a cheap thrill in the gym locker room?
Again, I don't know the answers to all of these questions. I'm simply asking them. I find it all very interesting.

What about a "Walk the Walk" sort of rule?
If you dress as a woman, you can use the women's restroom. Dress as a man and you can use a man's restroom?
I don't know what the statistics are, but I imagine the majority of people are in the bathroom just to, you know, do their business or clean their hands or what not, not to get a cheap thrill.
I don't know why we need gender specific bathrooms anyway.
You might want gender specific bathrooms and locker rooms at the gym.
But otherwise, I am seeing more and more unisex bathrooms around - makes sense for a lot of reasons. But these are the kind that only one person at a time can use.

So would you call his parts a "Mangina"?
And...I guess the unisex bathroom for everyone would make me uncomfortable. I went to a nightclub that had a huge open space between the mens and womens rooms...not near the toilets but in the sink/mirror area. You could see men in the mens room washing their hands and the same for women. It was creepy. Who wants to primp in front of the mirror with men looking on? Not me.
Who gets to decide how a man or woman should dress?

I can see it now ... a world in which all men dress like Navy Seals. ![]()
There was/is a Men's room in Grand Central Station that had/s private stalls. It was very nice , all marble. Each stall had a commode and a sink with a mirror. What difference would it have made if the person in the next stall was a man or a woman?
The only problem was that I was there pre-Guilianni and most of the stalls had permant residents.

The lie is perpetuated by the media and I think that's probably what I get peeved about. Mentally he is a man, that's fine, but physically - biologically - he is a woman. The headlines of "man gets pregnant" are a fallacy - it's sensationalist (although what in today's media isn't) and is simply not true.i'm gonna have to agree with the above. i have an enormous amount of respect for the transgendered community. i believe wholeheartedly that a person can be born in the wrong body when it comes to their gender. but they way these headlines are written it is as if an actual biological man is pregant, which is not the case. i'm happy for them and all, i just don't understand all hype over it. i remember first reading the headline and seeing a picture and going "HUH? WTF?" then reading further and thinking "ohhh...well what's the big deal about that?"
i felt cheated. i want to see a REAL pregant man! :p
This is exactly how I feel about it.
I think the media is partially to blame, but this couple hasn't exactly been turning down offers to have their 15 minutes either
I saw a rather heavy man in the store a few weeks ago, from behind I thought he was an older woman...but when I saw his face he had a beard, long hair..and was wearing a strange brown hat that matched his dress...a brown dress with a belt and a fanny pack. So..I guess no one tells anyone how to dress. There are no rules. Just the rules people break when it comes to good taste sometimes.
Remember that show with the gay men? Queer eye for the straight guy? My friends and I thought it was amusing how there was never a show with Lesbians dressing up straight women. Probably never will be. I am pretty sure drag-queens have tons more fashion sense than I ever will.
