Pregnant with TWINS!!!

Quote  |  Reply
I AM PREGNANT IN TWINS AND I FEEL LIKE I WANT TO EAT ALL THE DAY... I AM ALREADY OVER WEIGHT BY 6 KILOS AND I GAIN WEIGHT NOW FASTER... IS IT SAFE TO LOSE AT LEAST THREE KILOS TO MAINTAIN MY PREGNANCY WITH NORMAL BODY AND WITHOUT BEING HUNGRY ALL DAY AND NITE?

I would discuss that with your doctor - you wouldn't want to do anything to jeopardize the babies so your doc would know best :-)
Congratulations by the way!

There are tons of resources on the web about pregnancy and the calories you need for a healthy pregnancy. Try askdrsears.com or babycenter.com

You shouldn't try to loose weight while pregnant but just eat healthy foods and try to stay as active as possible. You will drop weight like water with two infants after they are born. Breastfeeding two babies will burn more calories then you can count.

 Best wishes to you.

Congrats!! And I agree with wendy, talk to your doctor. If he is not alarmed about your weight gain it may be normal for your condition. But losing weight while pregnant is usually not a good idea. Good luck!

thnx a lot for ur comments but what i want to tell u guys is that my doctor advised me of not doing diet and let go and start eating healthy food and 5 or 6 small meals per day instead 3 main meals per day..
You should most definitely listen to your doctor.  Just try making healthy choices in your foods and eat 6 small meals.  You are growing two babies in there, you need to make sure you get enough food to maintain their health and your own.

I am a parent of twins - they are 2 and a half now.   Honestly, it is best to just forget about weight while you are pregnant with twins.  There is a lot of research that shows that eating a high calorie (like even over 3,000/day!) diet, especially during the first half of your pregnancy leads to better outcomes for the babies.  This is what I did and I am convinced it is part of the reason one of my twins that was born at only 4.5 lbs at 36 weeks and with an umbilical cord insertion problem is totally normal with no delays.  Definitely do not try to lose weight - you can do that after they are born.  Google "Dr. Luke" - she ran the multiples pregnancy clinic ant the University of Michigan and has authored a really wonderful book on being pregnant with multiples.  She has a lot of advice on diet.  Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy!

congratulations!

Forget about trying to LOSE weight right now, when those babies are hungry feed them and keep it healthy aside from any cravings. My mom had twins 15 years ago, their health should be all that matters right now. Save the dieting until after their birth and breast feeding.

I JUST HAD MY BABY 7 WEEKS AGO.  YOU DON'T DIET TO LOSE WEIGHT, BUT YOU CAN EAT NUTRICIOUSLY TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY PREGNANCY!  THERFORE EAT BREAKFAST, SNACK, LUNCH, SNACK, DINNER SNACK.  DON'T OVER DO IT ON FOODS THAT DON'T DO YOU OR YOUR BABIES ANY GOOD AND YOU WILL GAIN ONLY WHAT IS NEEDED FOR THE PREGNANCY.  YOUR HUNGRY, BECAUSE ARE MOTABOLISMS ARE HIGHER WHEN WE ARE PREGNANT.  REMEMBER YOU WILL GAIN MORE BEING PREGNANT WITH TWINS.  CONGRADULATIONS!  TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR FOR A PLAN THATS RIGHT FOR YOU.
