Yesterday my dad brought home some green beans and he wants me to make them...does anyone know how to make them without a pressure cooker?  He said he wanted potatos in it but i seriously have no clue.

I just steamed them last night for a few minutes (until they get bright green) you could put a little red pepper flakes or salt and pepper on them but they are so flavorful that you don't really need to put anything on them.
Well, this doesn't have potatoes, but is delish!!

From 3fatchicks.com

Sesame Green Beans 1 pound green beans
2 teaspoons sesame seed
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper

recipe directions
Heat 1 inch water to boiling in 2-quart saucepan. Add beans. Boil uncovered 5 minutes. Cover and boil about 5 minutes longer or until crisp-tender.

While beans are cooking, heat sesame seed in 6-inch skillet over medium heat about 2 minutes, stirring frequently until browning begins, then stirring constantly until golden brown. Stir in remaining ingredients; heat through.

Drain beans. Pour sauce over beans; toss until evenly coated.

 sounds good!
As my own Greeb Beans Almondine variation, I often saute mine with just a couple TBSPS of EVOO and a cup of sliced mushrooms tossed in.  As they cook, the 'shrooms give off some liquid to help the beans steam.  At the end, I thrown in a few slivered almonds.  MY DH loves this as a side dish.

I need to try wlmich's recipe though.  That sounds awesome!!!!

Bring 2 cups of chicken broth to a boil.  Drop in potatoes cut in chunks and some minced garlic.  Simmer until the potatoes are half cooked, about 5 minutes.  Drop in whole green beans, cover and simmer until the potatoes are completely cooked.
