Pretty dang sore....do it again?
For all the real fitness buffs out there, please hold your laughter.
I did the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred for the first time yesterday. I woke up sore, but did it again anyway. I am moderately sore now....like it hurts to sit down, stand up, move :)
Here is my question, I want to do it again tomorrow....is it okay to do so? And, if I do continue doing this on a daily basis will I get to a point where I am not sore anymore (without giving myself a day off)?
Im sure someone like melkor would tell you take a day break as your muslces need to rest and start adjusting to the new changes... So ill go with that advice..
Although once you get experince and your body gets used to it, the less and less you will need to take breaks (but if your doing weight training, never work the same muscle 2 days in a row..) I mean not gonna effect much if you do it agian tomorrow if your up to it and feel like you can do another days workout.... Its just often advised to take take a day off after a work out... hopes this helps
Thanks for the quick response. There is a little bit of weight involved, but we are talking the bare minimum....like, push ups and three pound hand weights. This wouldn't be considered 'weight training', I'm sure. I am just extremely out of shape.....
you should be fine to continue tomorrow, your just sore from them not being used like that in awhile =]... i always enjoy the occasional soreness... lets me know im actually doing something
Well, if you haven't done them before, pushups are strength training for you - the 30-day shred is mostly calisthenics, but that doesn't mean that you won't see some strength training benefits from bodyweight-based moves you can only do a few of.
You muscles can't tell the difference between a pushup and a bench press - if you can only do 5 pushups you're seeing roughly the same training effect as you would if you did 5RM bench presses.
That said - in your specific case I would probably take a day off and do some light recovery work (take a walk) to get the blood flowing to your muscles and facilitate recovery (take a walk) - it's easier to sustain a high-intensity workout if you're not in pain while doing it ;)
ya working out is a series of ur muscles breaking down and building back up again stronger, idk If I would do it tomorow if I was u, depends on how u feel, eat protein itll help ur muscles to repair and heal, especially before u go to bed cause sleeping is a catabolic process u wanna trick ur body and build it up so u dont lose precious muscle tissue when ur asleep

Actually…the best thing….(and most pro athletes dread this but do it all the time) is an Ice bath. When I was a pro athlete…ice baths were common, and they help tremendously. I have to warn you though…Ice bath’s are not for the weak. The first two minutes of an ice bath will be the most pain you’ve felt in years probably. I usually stay in for 8-12 minutes, then I take a warm shower an hour later, and sleep for about 10-14 hours. After an ice bath you will feel like a superhero. I have to take one tonight…I’m dreading it though, but it has to be done…it’s very good for fighters too.
(WARNING****…for men there will be “shrinkage”****)

lol...yes I have a job...but i don't work on the weekends, and when I travel for a fight i do it more often.
My other JOB is to beat the crap out of people....and I LIKE IT!!!!...hehehehe
