Drink plenty of plain fluids and avoid eating too much salt or sugar.  In addition, ease off on foods that cause a lot of gas.... carbonated drinks, beans, raw/very lightly cooked vegetables, eggs.  Eat a little more slowly and take walks after eating.

1)  Drink lots of water.  Like ridiculous - like a gallon a day.

2) Eat lots of high fiber foods. (fruit, whole grains, etc)

3) If you're like me, don't drink beer.  Any.  Ever.  I swell up like a balloon.

4) Things like coffee that have a diuretic effect will flush the water in the immediate but then your body will react by holding on to everything a little later.  So maybe cut that stuff out.

5) No salt!  Well, obviously some salt.  But a low sodium diet.  And watch out because frozen dinners usually have a lot of sodium and yet they don't taste that salty so it's pretty easy to think they need salt and end up way bloated.

6) For me, hot yoga works really well.

Good luck!

Parsley, Uva Ursi,  and asparagus are natural diuretics, they also have other nutrients that will stabilize your electrolytes. Stay away from synthetic diuretics as they are hard on the kidneys and will dehydrate you.  I don't know that I'd drink a gallon of water on the day of the ball, you'll spend most of your time in the bathroom! Wink

have fun!

drink some peppermint tea or any herbal teas you like, it does help! and dont drink an extraordinary amount of water, it can make you feel really uncomftarbly full..just your normal amount with a bit extra. have fun!

I cut all carbs (almost, can't cut everything Smile). Also, no artificial sweeteners or carbonated drinks. I also agree with hip2ships up there, no beer, I swell up too! But I've never had a problem with salt, probably because one mostly overdo salt with carbs... which I don't have much of anyways.

I hope you'll have fun!!
