How do you prevent "bulge" or "spill-over"from tights/panty hose?
In winter, I love wearing sweater dresses(fitted, not too tight) with tights and boots. However, the top of the tights always causes my stomach to spill over!! If I pull my tights to the end of my bra, it is better but I find that very uncomfortable.
Though I am not very toned, I am in no way fat
So what do should I do?
I do the pull them up thing...I like it though, it all feels so tight and firm...I know of no other way
I never wear anything form fitting without wearing something like THIS. Available at any department store lingerie dept. A lot of people swear by the Spanx brand, but really, Hanes, Bali, Playtex, etc have just as good of products too. They are not as uncomfortable as they look IF you get the right size (don't be tempted to squeeze into a size too small).
I like Spanx. I had no idea cheaper brands were available. I'm a lazy @ss guess I should look
I usually like to wear patterned/colored tights...but unfortunately Spanx/other figure-control brand are usually nude or black... what do you do then. Do you wear Spanx under the tights?
Thanks for all the suggestions tough!
Instead of pulling them up to your bra, have you tried just pulling them up to the smallest part of your waist? I wear panty hose under my scrubs for leg aches and to make my thighs not stick to my pants (medium scrubs are way too big, small scrubs hug my thighs). Instead of pulling them up to my boobs, they sit at the smallest part of my waist. No gut spilling over that way.
Also, have you tried finding thigh-highs instead? I know you can get some fun patterns and fishnets in multiple colours, that way you can wear a garter belt, too.
You can also try a waist cincher or tucking an under shirt into your panty hose.
Agree with CD. I wear tights a lot and I just pull them up to my waist. That way I don't get a bulge and I can just wear my shirt long enough so it goes over the skirt and you can't see the waistband at all. It does make it a little difficult to pee because you have to unbutton/unzip the skirt and then pull the tights down, but it at least creates smoother lines.
*edited for clarification.
MAN I hate pulling tights on and off to pee at work. I've only got like, a minute to get in, tinkle, wash my hands, and go!
I only wear thigh highs-- haven't worn panty hose in years. But do not rely on the kind that are supposed to stay up WITHOUT a garter belt to stay up without a garter belt! Also, thigh highs can cause their own "spilling over" if they have the elastic/rubber band at the top. I solve this by cutting the band off completely, leaving the raw edge on top, and just letting the garter belt do all the work. Not only stops any thigh spillage but I think they fit in a very sexy and flattering way once you get rid of the band.
I wear tights almost everyday of the week because of my school uniform. The thing that works for me is cutting 3/4 of the elastic band in random areas. That way, you'll have something that'll hold the tights up but there won't be any bulge. This takes practice so i advise you to try it on really cheap brands first and then use your normal ones.
