ok this is probably the most ridiculous question ever asked here
but at the gym
whenever i'm on the machine i start breathing pretty heavy because i like to push myself...
and then i get really embarrassed by the heavy breathing, i figure it's drowned out by the music...people's earphones... the machine sounds in the gym
is it really drowned out? i'd like a little reassurance that i'm being embarrassed about nothing
OMG THATS THE MOST STUPID, POINTLESS, IDIOTIC QUESTION I'VE EVER... nevermind. :P
Eh, don't worry, I've semi-wondered that too.
When I'm working out I'm either listening to music or absorbed in the (kind of) pain of my workout, and won't notice other people breathing. Most people seem to do the same. Now I'll admit I have noticed heavy breathing on one or two occasions - but I just end up thinking 'Wow, that person is having such a great workout', or something along those lines. ^_^ Seriously, don't worry about it.
i'm going to go work out tomorrow morning
and i'm really going to make an effort to not care
i mean... even if they do hear me, so what.. i don't know them and i'm doing this for ME
and the end result of my health and fitness is so much more important than someone hearing me breathe heavy
i know logically it's ridiuclous to think.. but i can't help it
but tomorrow i'm really gonna try
Exactly! It doesn't matter. You shouldn't feel embarrassed because you're making a healthy choice for your body.
And furthermore, I'm waaaay more likely to notice people who are on the machines and aren't breathing heavily at all or sweating or anything like that (not that there's anything wrong with that - it's just more noticeable in a gym). So what you breathe hard? It's just showing how hard you're working, which people should be envious of. :)
I breathe hard, I sweat a lot, I even mouth the lyrics along with music on my iPod. Who gives a ****? :P
Nobody cares. They're far more interested in their own workout.
thats nothing to be embarrassed about compared to the way i acted at te gym last night. it was my first time there and i kept screaming things like "omg i cant do this!" and "am i doing this right?." a lot of people were laughing at me
I'm always affraid I'm going to break out into a tune loudly. I NEED my I-Pod to function and the louder it is the harder I work. So I catch myself often wanting to sing as if I were in my car. Lol.
I really don't care though. Haven't you ever heard those body builders grunting like thier having a bowel movement? Lol. :)
To answer your question, the machines are probably loud enough as they are. I wouldn't notice an atomic bomb going off. Most people already have their iPods cranked up in their ears too lol. But on top of all that, nobody really cares. I mean, most everyone's there to work their tail off. It only shows how hard you are willing to push yourself. Be proud of your heavy breathing! :)
I know what you mean. I am also afraid to run on the treadmills because I feel like the pounding of my feet are much louder than anyone else's, because I'm the biggest one there (it's a college gym where everyone else seems so skinny...). ![]()
I will admit that sometimes I notice when some starts running and their steps aound loud, but I never even think about it after the first 5 seconds of hearing it. And it's not like I turn to stare and see who the loud person is. And I think I only notice if I don't have my music on. Heavy breathing, on the other hand, I have never noticed.
I dont worry about it. Every one is there to get their heart beats going and exercise. Just think about this... I went to a gym where there were guys and girls, so if you do too, then great. Every guy who was lifting weights, had their own little grunt.. think they are embarrassed?? I think its funny listening to them but its what helps them out... so with your breathing, don't worry about it! A lot of people do. And with all of the machines and music, im sure your huffs and puffs arn't going to be heard. especially if there is grunting in the background :)
Noises happen. Sweat happens. That's working out, embrace it. Now, if you happen to be running on the treadmill, drop your iPod which then goes shooting off the back of the treadmill, suddenly forget where you are and try to stop and turn around and pick it up, then remember you're actually on a moving treadmill right about the time you also go flying off the back of the machine landing at the feet of a group of people who are staring at you in shock and horror... then you can be embarrassed. Not that I would know anything about that...
hahahah... that sounds like something that WOULD happen to me
i worked out today and breathed super heavy.. breathing is really important when you work out so i always hated trying to keep it hidden
and i burned 520 calories in half an hour
i was really happy with myself :) so worth the heavy breathing anyone could have possibly heard
we do group work outs at the gym in the mornings (i'm military) and i honestly rarely can even hear my own IPOD when it's cranked to full volume.
The only time I ever really notice someone is if they are doing that moronic hand-clapping/yelling deal. Now, that, that drives me BONKERS.
Breathing though? no. that'd be like getting embarrassed for sweating at the gym. seriously, no one cares. or notices. or would care, even if they did notice.
I did notice a guy heavy breathing at the gym once. But that was only because he was wheezing so badly I was afraid he was going to pass out.
