Problem Areas - Thighs and stomach

Quote  |  Reply

I need to lose about 10 pounds and I feel that I am on my way.  I have been eating better and exercising.  The exercise is helping my arms and legs.  However there is some cellulite on my inner thighs and my mid section seems be more and more of a probem.  I have eating and exercising properly and I can see results from my routine however I have these two problem areas.  Are there any suggestions that would help tone my legs and abs.

Same areas for me. My trainer says that in order to get abs it is almost 100% diet. He said that crunches and stuff while good for core strength will not make your abs appear. so make sure you have a good diet, low sodium, no alcohol etc...

For thighs I have been running intervals and that seems to be working for both making them smaller and reducing the sppearance of cellulite.

I have the same problem...I also have 10 pounds to lose...I am planning to lose them before christmas...I am satisfied with how I look in general...but my thighs have cellulite and my tummy is not really all that flat...it is the fat-skinny type...it does not plump out all that much or anything...but it is so soft...

I do aerobics but that is for the waist...I want my waist smaller ( who doesn't ? Wink) and although I have managed to slim it down from 28 inches to 26 inches...my tummy is still the same...I read a lot in here threads by other women complaining about their tummies as well..and most of the advice was that the crunches and ab exercises do not really help all that much in reducing the fats in there...but you are gonna have to lose the extra weight from that area...which sucks...kinda...because in the process, you will be losing weight in other areas that are just fine already like the bust or the arms...

Anyways, good luck Smile...keep on dieting...like I will...you can also join one of the groups on CC..the threads that people start...other people who want to shed off the last 10 pounds as well..it is very motivating

There is NO way to target fat loss from particular parts of your body.  Your body will lose the fat from wherever it wants to - usually the last place it put it.  There are NO exercises that will specifically make your stomach smaller.  There are NO exercises that will specifically make your thighs slimmer.  Anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something (or has heard too many sales pitches).

As a general rule, a healthy diet with an appropriate number of calories combined with exercise will allow you to maintain a healthy slim shape overall.  Also, having active muscles raises your metabolism so that you can eat (a little) more and still lose weight.

Start by increasing your protein intake and if you can, eat small "mini" meals throughout the day. What kind of cardio do you do? Short intervals of high intensity cardio helps, and if you continuously push yourself every week, you will see results. As for strength training for your legs - focus on using your body weight during lunges and squats. I have a "pear" shape, so this is what I've been doing to reduce fat in my lower body & it has helped!
