Problematic area: Hips

Quote  |  Reply

hi everybody.

my body is out of proportion- my hips are too big comparing to my body.

I started my diet about a month ago, mostly runing about 40 min a day at the gym.

I just wanted to know, what is the best way to lose weight from this area of my body?

I would guess that the best way to lose weight from a particular area would be exactly the same way you would lose weight in general - lowering your caloric intake and exercising on a regular basis. If your hips are "out of proportion" with the rest of your body, that may be genetics and even as you get smaller, you will think they are still bigger in comparison. That may just be your natural shape and there'e nothing wrong with that. Everyone is shaped differently. In fact, many experts would tell you that it's healthier to carry weight in the hip area than around the waist, near your vital organs. Good luck to you!

Unfortunately, there's no way to spot reduce (reduce fat from one area of the body in particular). You can just lose fat overall, and your body will "decide" where it comes from.

You could start a strength training program and try to build muscle on your upper body to balance it out.

Thanks for the advices. Since I am a women I wouldnt want to build muscle on my upper body, I'm not sure it will look the best haha.

I guess I'll just keep working-out and hope for the best...
