Problems with weight loss...

Quote  |  Reply

Okay, so right now I'm 5'6'', 111 lbs, and classified as underweight.

I'm very dissapointed with myself, and I'm not quite sure what to do, I mean come ON, in all seriousness who wants to GAIN weight? I've been eating 200 more calories a day then I usually do (thats 1400 extra calories a week) and I cut down on running and changed to walking because I felt that that was what was really shedding the pounds.
BUT I'M LOSING WEIGHT ! Why is this happening? My ultimate goal was to look toned but I'm starting too look anorexic and grosssssssssss. Somebody PLEASE help me figure out what I'm doing wrong because the only part of my body I'm happy with is my stomach, the rest looks too boney.

THANK YOU

Just curious.  Why are you posting in the weight loss forum?

Cause it's about weight loss, and honestly this is probably the most popular and looked at forum, and I want advice quick.. so hey why not

It's very easy for a legitimate diet to go too far.  Even if you don't end up with an eating disorder,  if it renders you clinically underweight then there are health implications if it continues.

So you have to gain weight... and you're going to need to start on about 2500 cals a day.  And if you're still losing at that level, keep increasing in increments of 200-300 until you start gaining.   When you hit a healthy weight... which for you now is going to be 125lbs.... then reduce your intake 200 cals at a time until you stop gaining.

thank you so so much, I'm going to start this today.. i would love to be at 120 i think..120-125 i think was when i looked the healthiest.

thanks again, this really helps.

stop counting, start eating and toning.

and p.s. you can't LOOK anorexic. it's a disease, not a design.

Okay well I dont have the disease.. I realize that I'm too skinny, I eat a lot.. i just cant remain at a healthy weight.. im either over or under..

i never said you do. i'm just saying that anorexia is not a look, it's a severe mental illness. it shouldn't be thrown around as a descriptive term.

and that's a problem for a lot of people. i myself am either up or down. i'm currently at an average, healthy weight but i am losing weight.
it takes a lot to learn how your body works, and no one can really help you with those sorts of details if you don't fully know how your body works.

EAT! Laughing

Wish I was too Boney!...

Because you're still burning more calories they you're consuming.

have you considered implementing protein shakes to your work out.  If you continue to loose weight like you are doing you may be eating into your muscles.  By including protein shakes you should at least retain the muscle mass.  going to a running club or a store (local) that promotes running is a good place to get advice.  If you continue to loose unwanted weight you may want to see your doctor for proffesional advice.
