I'm not a huge fan myself. Every time I eat something with Mayo on it my tummy gets mad at me! lol I do like Spectrums light vegan/eggless canola oil mayo though....that never seems to bother me. |

Hi Numbers!
I was just trying to think of something to do with brown rice. I've got chicken breast thawed and I thought I'd bake it and serve it with gravy (canned of course), but I'd really like to have some rice.
Yeah, the cream of chicken soup was canned too (I know....it's bad >.<) I had it last night over a chicken breast and it was yummy ^_^
Not bad, silly. Many's the meal all across the country prepared with a can of soup for a base. We are not food snobs in here, darlin'.
So my slight fear of cans poisoning me or giving me cancer is irrational? My mom taught me never to eat canned foods so I always feel a bit guilty/freaked out when I do.
I avoid them for salt more than anything else. Once you learn how to make a white sauce from scratch, you'll feel less inclined to use can soup, certainly, but it won't hurt to use them sometimes.
Yeah, if I do get things in a can I normally try to get things without salt added or at least lower in salt. I'm pretty good about staying well below my sodium intake for the day....unless I have an Amy's frozen pizza...those are kinda ridiculous with the sodium......but they are soooo good. I should learn to make a white sauce from scratch, I've never actually tried lol |

Whatever the record might say, I was NOT born with a tail. That was a vicious rumor started by a disgruntled male nurse.

mmmkay, wtf. For lunch today I ate 1/3 cup of cooked brown rice mixed with 1/4 cup of cream of chicken soup and like 1/2 cup of cantaloupe, which is only 160 calories. Yet, I feel like I just ate a horse (bones and all) I am SO full. I had brought more to eat but I couldn't even THINK about eating it. What on earth is it about rice that makes you feel so full? Sheesh.
Anyhow.... HI EVERYONE!! *waves* I miss you guys. |

Here's one of his daily menus

- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 Centrum Advanced Formula multivitamin
Lunch - Total calories: 540
- 1 Hostess Twinkie
- 1 Little Debbie Star Crunch
- 1 Muscle Milk Protein Shake
Snack - Total calories: 150
Dinner - Total calories: 688
- 1 Little Debbie Zebra Cake
- 1 brownie (Duncan Hines mix)
- 3-4 baby carrots
- 1 Muscle Milk Protein Shake
Snack - Total calories: 75
- 6 chips, Cool Ranch Doritos
Total Calories for the Day: 1,829
(gasp) He ate carrots! He ate carrots!!! LOL
Who the heck eats only 6 Doritos, anyway? This prof sounds like some sort of healthnut extremist. (grin)
Honestly? I do. If I'm craving chips I will grab a half a serving sometimes....*shrug* is it that weird? lol
Anyways, none of this surprises me. He ate less calories a day and loss weight. Losing weight usually = lower cholesterol etc.... I think that this would work for just about anyone. I wouldn't recommend it though, it cannot be healthy for your body long term and eating junk food all the time cannot be very satisfying.
No, you just have very good willpower. I envy it! I couldn't do 6 chips... I couldn't even do a serving on the label. :P I stay faaaaaaar away from snacky things like chips for this reason.
lol...yeah, I can see that. That's the problem with junk food, it just doesn't seem to fill you up. I could eat an entire bag of chips and not be full. I usually try to eat them with something else as sort of a side/treat thing so that I get a satisfied feeling but also curb my craving at the same time. A bag of chips will last me forever. It wasn't always like that for me though.... |

Lily's pregnant, Cajun used to have colorful walls, SLO and SSS made it to the meet-up after all, the kiddos are all cute, jars and coffee tins are useful, and I'm an onion (you know, lots of layers)
Awesome! Congrats to Lily!
You may not want to take everything Sammi said here literally.

I just realized that you may not know that that's a running joke... Everything else is true though. Though I'm more like a parfait than an onion.

I'm pretty sure those heart rate monitors are wildly inaccurate, Numbers. I usually just take my pulse for 10 seconds and multiply by 6 to figure out my heart rate.
This works too (though I can't do this while working on The Elliptical, or I teeter and potentially fall off)
*giggles at the visual of this in her head* |

So anyone here ever had trouble with the elliptical heart rate monitors before? I was cold here at work and thought I'd jump on for about 5 min or so and it shut down on me saying my target heart rate is too high (like 200 O_O). At first I freaked out but then I read cold dry hands can do this. My hands are always like ice cubes so I put on some lotion and rubbed them together for a few seconds and it finally read it to be around 125,which still seems rather high/inaccurate for just starting out, but at least it wasn't shutting down on me....
Hate to break it to you, but most heart rate monitors on most exercise machines aren't very accurate.
If you want accurate, you really wanna get your own. I like Polar myself.
Yeah, I didn't expect them to be super accurate but I did expect them not to shut down on me 30 seconds into my workout. hahaha |
