| Weight Loss | Doctor Told Me To Stop Losing Weight | Jun 27 2011 23:07 (UTC) |

i think we shouldn't always listen to doctors blindly, they could also be wrong. But in this case, i feel that you should understand why he suggest you not to lose weight? I feel that is because you too little. I think it is okay for you to lose 5 - 10 pounds more (or even more), as long as ur BMI is like 20. But i would recommend you to eat more, eat something like 1600 to 1800 calories while doing a bit of exercise every day if possible, and walk more often. Then you will be able to lose weight slowly and steadily, and also tone your body. Furthermore you won't be starving yourself because 1200 is really very very very very little food! Doubt you can maintain that for your whole life! Oh and you did such a great job of losing weight, congratulations!!! Hope this helps! |

I don't know if i am consider "skinny", but i would like to consider myself to be lol, so i will just reply i am 6 foot tall male and weigh 164 pounds, bmi 22.3 I had udon with 1 egg for breakfast (approx 400 calories) Lunch I have Grilled fish sandwich with steam brocolli as side ( approx 650 calories) For dinner i would probably have some boiled dumplings with some cabbage, approx ( 500) Probably some snacks in between, such as yogurt 150 calories etc this is consider to be a typical day for me (which will make me be having like 300 calories defecit) Since Im a guy who is 23 years old and 6 feet tall, so its probably more calories than most other people that post on here, but for me, i would still lose weight if i have something like 2000 calories a day. O and this is what i normally have or weekdays, on weekends i kind of eat alot (around 3000 calories), or stuff i like more. Eg some chinese food. But one thing i don't do even on the weekend is to drink soda or anything sweet, because i really feel that its not worth it. Instead of drinkin gthat soda here or there, i could have food! I personally like food more than drinks. |

here is what i think 1 u are still a teenager, shouldn't be eatin 1200 calories 2 this is not calculus, there is no need for such precision, eg u gain 1 pound or bmr gain 20 or 30 , not like we can tell a difference between a 230 calories french fries or a 270 calories one. Therefore u dun need to up anything by 50, its impossible to up 50 calories seriously 3 u should try to exercise or move around more, walk the stairs more? go for a walk with the dog? cycle to class? go to gym? go to dancing class? do yoga? 4 i recommend u to do exercise 45 mins (2 times a week) and eat around 1500 calories a day, if u lose it by not doing exercise, then u lose a lot of muscles, and if u lose muscles ur body shape looks terrible even if u are skinny, it is not toned, and with no muscle it is easier to gain all the weight back
hope this helps

seriously that could be worms in ur body, it is quite common, which sounds very likely to me, i am no expert by any means, but it is a very normal thing and it is very easy to heal, so id say go find a doctor or google more info about it |

| Weight Loss | Anyone interested in doing a weekly biggest loser??? | Dec 01 2010 23:12 (UTC) |

i think it is a good idea if it motivates you however i don't think it will fit many people, because 1 week is too little, people are adviced to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week, and water weight and the amount of food in ur body etc will flutuate your weight by more than 2 pounds alot of time, so it is hard to be accurate. People can only lose so fast in biggest loser because there is a lot for them to lose i am not discouraging you, but i feel 1 week is way too short to see any progress gd luck though! |

Ya, i knew u gotta be asian, typical asian parents lol ( im asian too). Just wanna warn you, don't even think of going to hong kong or japan, i am serious, u will be shocked! All those girls are so so so skinny, anything about 100 is overweight in general. I am serious because there is where i live my whole life before i came to study in the states. Let me share with u a story of my sis. My sis is 26 years old, she is 110 pounds and 5 foot 7. She said she has a big tummy, (ya rite) , and u know what she does?Whenever she goes to a restaurant she asks the waiter for a cup of tea or water, and every food before she put it in her mouth, she rinse it with water/tea. Basically the food become tasteless. The shocking thing of this is that this is a normal thing for girls back home. My mom does that too, and i found out alot of my female friends do that too. I dunno if that makes u feel happier (because at least in the states people are not as crazy) or worse, lol |

tictac, are u from an asian family? Thats what most asian parents do from my experience. The girls are way too skinny in asia. The parents are real honest and alot of time harsh too with their words. ps: ninafish, is that u in the profile pic, u have really great looking eyes! |

Hey dave, i am more or less in the same boat as u. I weigh 162 pounds and i am 6 foot. I have a 31.5 waist. I think you have a broad shoulder and chest, which some people like it, some peopel don't. I think u have a medium frame, therfore for ur age and weight, i think its very decent, very close to (if not already) perfect. I reckon u can lose mabye 1 inch of waist though, and maybe do a bit weight lifting if you want your arms to look stronger, i think your feet looks perfect.
It really depends on what type of body shape you like, it wouldn't hurt to lose a few pounds, just a few pounds only!
thats my honest 2 cents, hope i didnt offend you! ps: kid in ur profile looks cute! |

i am on the same boat, trying to lose the last 4-5 pounds. I guess all it takes is time. It is much harder when we are no longer overweight. I am being consistent for 2-3 weeks, and hopefully i will see the result in 1 month. I think it takes much longer to get the result, so just be patient, we can do this (i hope)! |

aptexas, there is always the bright side! I have similar experience. I was skinny my whole life until high school. Within 5 years of high school to college, i gained 70 pounds. I never weigh myself once during all these years, until one day. I started in feb, and guess what I've lost all that 70 pounds already (with no pills and not much dieting, mostly exercise!). I can feel your depression, you just need to motivate urself. Once u start the journey, just don't stop!! Believe in yourself! Its easy to lose weight the first few months when you are more overweight, you will see the pounds come off easily! that is the positive side, you will lose your first 50 pounds in no time, trust me! Hope you feeling better |

well i personally find it amazing, i know diet and exercise are more important, and i could understand people being doubtful about this, there is no harm for knowing more i guess! In the experiment, both group of people have the same calories diet, one with dairy one without, and turns out that those on dairy diet excrete DOUBLE amount of fat. |

I just checked, it says it is the calcium inside the milk that helps losing fat, not sure if soy milk works as soy milk has alot of calcium too, guess i will switch to drinking milk instead from now on! (my 2 cents!) |

lol thxs katie! Didnt know that, there is always stuff to learn, how wrong could i be? damn i always think it is! as it is high in calcium. I remember the scientific report i saw said there is something in the calcium that stops the absorbtion of the fat, thats why dairy products help to lose fat, and i automatically assume it is a dairy product as it has the word "milk". Thanks alot! and sorry for the information i gave, however soy milk might lose fat? i will try to find that out! PS i think the program i watched is from BBC 10 things you need to know about losing weight, it is on youtube, people should really watch it! |

hey people weighed in myself today, i reached 161 pounds, so freaking happy!!!!!!!! lost like 2 pounds this 2 weeks. I gotta say it feels weird though, I do not even know what my ideal weight would be or should be anymore! i just keep setting lower and lower targets, at first it is 185, now it gets to 160 pound, guess i will really stop when i hit 157 pounds. I would love to see some sort of muscles in my stomach, not a six pack , but something more lol. It is such a long journey, and it is coming to an end soon (9 months, lost 70 pounds). It is a mixed feeling really. Thats all for me ( i know not many would care but just feel like expressing myself !) Oh and absie, good job on losing 20 pounds! I think it is good to work out everyday, but in the long run, I doubt u can do that in college, maybe its better to switch to 3 to 4 days a week? I mean do as much as u can, but i mean don't force urself too much if you cant make it every single day! Also as to what to eat, i have some recommendations for you, hope it will work, it worked for me! Eat a banana and drink soy milk for breakfast . The reason for this is that banana is filling and healthy, people in japan do this to lose weight! i know some poeple talk about how bad banana is , but after doing some research, it really isnt! Soymilk is a dairy product, and dairy product help u lose fat, again it is scientifcally proved, and it helps u fill full as well! so that is less than 300 calories for breakfast! Healthy and low calories, if you still not satisfied add a yogurt , a greek fat free yogurt is about 80 to 100 calories, and again it helps u lose fat! anyway thats my 2c ents, i hope it helps, thats what helped me lost my 70 pounds anyway ! Gd luck! |

Welcome Bri, i completely understand you, that was how i gained my weight! There is a few things I do, for example don't buy food for the kitchen, if there is no food, then you cant binge! Only buy fruits! When i am hungry i always buy more stuff in the supermarket, thats why i only go to the store or supermarkets when I am full! Also try to eat dinner later, instead of eating at 6, nowadays i eat at 8pm, it keeps me from getting hungry before i sleep! Also if you need to weigh urself, go to the gym! You can also do a weekly weigh in in the gym and work yourself out there! College is tough, but there is a way out! (well, hopefully!) |

hey johnedove congrats on losing so much already! Since I am in a very good mood and you seem like a very nice guy (who will listen and respond to people), here comes my 2 cents! I am also a male 6 foot tall and i weighed 230 in feb(bmi 31), now i weigh 163 pounds (22 bmi). I will tell you what i think about ur diet and my "tricks". I am not an expert but I have done whole tons of research and readings so far! So I am not saying what i say is 100% right , but i hope it will help. first off i agree with what most people say (dave etc), that you should 1 count all your calories (ALL, remember it is ALL, did i say ALL? including drinks, yes ALL your calories lol) 2 your breakfast is terrible, bacons is a big no for breakfast, and do you really need 3 eggs? here is my suggestions 1 do not drink anything sweet, no grape juice, no nothing, if you really mean to lose weight, i believe this is something you can overcome, drink tea or water (coffee is fine, i guess) , oh and drink milk as well! (point 2) 2 eat or drink dairy products, you gotta trust me on this one, i have search , read , watch programs about this, it is scientifically proven that eating dairy products help you lose fat so so so much more. YES just by drinking milk for example, it is scientifically proved ! they do experiments on these many times! drink low fat milk and eat low fat yogurt! 3 you are probably underestimating your caloires intake by a big amount! try eat stuff that u like but not that high in calories, eg chicken instead of beef, shrimps instead of chicken, tofu and mushroom instead of chicken etc 4 if you find urself hungry all the time late night, try eat slightly late at night for dinner, for example instead of eating a 6pm eat at 730 pm. 5 good luck and continue working hard and eat less and healthier! Do not worry if the scale stopped moving , if you count your calories and do the exercise, it will come off eventually! seriously it will come off all of a sudden!
Hope this helps! |

i felt quite bad just now, because I ate so much. I was planning on treating myself one day since i have been exercising and doing well this week and it is weekend. I ordered a green bean with garlic and tofu with shrimp, they are both authentic chinese dishes. I ate the whole green bean dish! It is huge, i mean it is for maybe 3 people's size i would say, and i ate alot of tofu. I also had two bowl of rice lol. I was really full, but I didn't feel full while I was eating, it is only when I stopped I realize I ate too much. I tried to calm myself down and now I feel much better. One treat for a week is not that bad i guess, and it is only 1200 calories i would assume, and I didnt have that much for lunch. I was really glad I ordered some healthier options, vegies with lower calories, othewise it is unthinkable! It makes me feel so much better after typing this. " i am a guy 23 years old and 6 foot tall, if i can't eat it, not much peopel can!" Thats what i tell myself after i eat alot to make myself feel better. I have noticed there are so many healthy and tasty options on campus, what do you guys eat ? i love to eat this portabello mushroom burger, it is only 350 calories. Also the grilled sandwich is delicious. Those stuff taste so good that I would eat them even if i am not on diet. So people, what are your favourite food on campus (low in calories)? |
