| Health & Support | I have bulimia and I can't stop. | Apr 18 2012 22:38 (UTC) |

I remember too in 5th grade weighing myself for the first time and being 95 pounds which was heavier than all my friends.
I too struggle with bulimia every day and have for many years. I do not, however, binge and purge while with family or friends. I wish I had some kind of advice to give you that I feel you would take..but I will tell you to please go to a long term inpatient treatment facility. Preferably in another state. Remove yourself from your environment. I am looking into treatment centers as well. Don't go outpatient it never works. But please do find help. |

| Yes..what you just described would be a binge. You've deprived yourself of calories and yummy food for so long that your body is desperate for it! Eating a healthy amount of calories will kickstart your metabolism again. Don't deprive yourself of the food you love just don't binge on it. Incorporate it into your daily caloric needs. | |||

If this is your first time throwing up, it also needs to be your last. The pain and anxiety are overwhelming and it will drive you crazy.
Modeling is a dangerous trigger for your ED. I as well used to model and as a result I was always thinking about my body. Finally I had to take a break and decide maybe I would come back to it when I was at a better place with myself. Get help and don't wait. Talk to someone you trust. Good luck. |

| Health & Support | How to grocery shop with BED? | Apr 08 2012 21:58 (UTC) |

| Hi :) I don't have BED but I do have bulimia..so I understand a bit. I definitely go shopping for my disorder sometimes, even when I have every intention of shopping for healthy safe foods I will not binge and purge on. It's hard to resist picking up that cake or ice cream. I recently told my boyfriend of my problems though and sometimes HE will go shopping for me. I'll give him my list of non trigger foods and he goes out and gets it for me so there's no temptation. Maybe if you feel comfortable telling a close friend or family member they could do the same for you. Then you need to work on your problem, because you have to get help if you ever want to live normally again. Maybe you can grocery shop with someone you trust..this way you're not completely avoiding triggers but facing them. | |||
