and the Olympic Bar is how i refer to the bar i use? or do i ask for the barbell?

thanks!

let me 1st say, woohoo for apples doing the "trick"! haha

i was talking about the calorie suggestions on the book, not on CC, but NROL suggests higher than CC, not that im currently following either one.

i do always hear that ppl should eat 2000 to maintain so i might as well be consistent and do that,

thanks!

i want to maintain, maybe transform fat to muscle though.

the book suggests those amounts to maintain my weight but its more than what ive been eating.  to lose weight it says to subtract 300, thats how i understood it at least.

i thought your 1600 resulted from subtracting 300 from a higher amount, right?

so do you think i should go up to 1980/2180, i think that was the suggestion for nonworkout/wo days.  its more than i have been eating so im unsure.  i dont eat much junkfood, but ofcourse a little here+there.  when you say maintenance you mean to maintain, not to lose, rt? i see ppl have it mean different things sometimes.

yea, im hoping my body gets used to the increased protein...

if i remember correctly your calorie target was "maintenance"-300 to lose, and thats what youre going over?  im looking more to reshape my body rather than lose i suppose, but i dont want to mistakenly convince that is hould be eating more as according to the book, but i dont want to eat too little either...

thanks, yea, a process and ill get it sooner or later!

i dont really count calories that closely but ive tried to incorporate more protein, altho i feel like its backing me up, sorry TMI but have you experienced that?  are you eating the calorie counts they suggested? its a bit higher than where im at now.

i hope to know what im doing more next time and eventually start to actually lift HEAVY!!!

yea, its still winter basically where i am although i dont live in walking distance to anything so thats never much an option, lucky you!  im not eating 2200 or whatever it suggested for WO days, i didnt feel like i was so spent, idk...

good 4 you DBACKER!  and the bench for a step up is impressive, u must deff have core stregnth to balance that high!?

do you use protein powder? follow the meal suggestions or do anything other than the workouts as theyre listed?

Hedgren-you are so fabulous taking ur time to write all of this out, the sad thing is that i dont think it sinks in to those who are still underwight and malnourished bc theyre brains jjust cant wrap themselves around what u r trying to explain, idk, just a thought...

i dont weigh myself or food or anything and pretty much guesstimate that im eating somewhere around 2000 bc ill eat a lot of random food that i dont think about or remember, other than what ive had or think i will have on a given day.

i do have a bad bone bruise from a fall that is probly worse than it should have been bc of weakened bones, i now take extra Vit D and calcium as suggested by my gyno.  i do have some of the effects u described concerning damage to the prefrontal cortex and the obvious amenorhea.

but, i am tremendiously grateful to no longer be in the grasps of ED land, that i WANT to spend time w ppl, going out to eat is now FUN and an experience, i can live now, am i the sole exception? who knows?  will life throw another curve ball so that im even more sedentary yet for some reason eat more and i gain to a BMI of 25 and do or dont get a period, i have no idea, but i am happy, altho i know i can be happier, its a journey...

The squat rack and Smith machine look the same to me when i search them.

The Smith machine has the bar move along a track, while a squat rack holds the bar until you put it on your shoulders - then it's all you.

A Smith machine forces your body to take its path, rather than your own body's path (ouch!), while a squat rack allows you to get in position under the bar, but doesn't control your squat. This also means that your core will be working a lot harder, because you don't have the machine to keep you from tipping.

so the squat rack is better?

the way my week goes Im doing Sat/Tues/Thurs. sunday and friday i dont WO at all, monday and wednesday ill probly walk, are you doing anything other than NROL?

i dont know, im about a BMI of 23, lightly active, my hunger and energy levels have resumed, but still no period, persoanlly i dont think ill get it back again but i dont think that its an indicator than im not at a healthy weight or otherwise healthy.  just like having a period at a BMI of 17 is clearly not an indicator of health.

you do real push ups? congrats!!! lol

wow, so you do use those benches that ppl lay on to tep on, its perhaps about knee height i think?  maybe a little lower?

i joined the NROL4W women group, its good, i jsut want to make sure im getting it, i AM sore today in my arms which im surprised at since i had to pause w the push ups and didnt think i was doing it right, but im happy!!

lol, i WILL get this, i am commited!

ok, i didnt use an olympic bar 4 the squats, it was an EZ curl and prettly light.  is the olympic bar itself 45lbs and then you add weights to that?  i think the olympic bars were on a rack that was on the wall.  i think there is 1 smith bar in a different part of the gym where muscle heads lift and drop weights.  there is also a literal rack that has short barbells or EZ curls that is literally up to my waist, that is what i took and just lifted over my head, obviously need something heavier next time and 4 when i try the deadlifts in WO B.

so for push ups you go up to the smith machine and lean against an olympic bar that is on a rack?  your gym must have a lot of smith machines.

a bench for step ups?  like one that ppl use to lay on their backs?  or steps that ppl use for step class?  we dont have the steps unfortuantely.what are risers?  the knee paralel to the floor?  do you mean 90 degrees?

thank you!

Hi, yep, it was the EZ bar, i saw barbells, just googled it, already with heavy weights on them but they werent on anything that i could imagine squating under to be able to pick it up?  there are lots of free weights, the barbells confuse me though.  the EZ curl bar w 5lbs on each side was i think a little too light.

is an oly bar the same as a barbell?  the squat racks are so short?

for the push ups, i think we have the smich machine so do u just put ur hands together and lean against a single poll?

no plymetric box, i just used a step in the gym, i suppose if i cant get a higher step then i should use increasingly heavier weights?

thank you!!

So i did my 1st WO and I dont think i did it right...i have never used a barbell before, the one i used sort of had 2 indentations on either side and there were 2 5lb weights welded to each side (found out they were welded on AFTER i asked how they could be removed! lol)

anyway, i used that for the squats but think next time i can do heavier but i didnt see HOW you add weights to it or a place where theyre sitting where u can actually crouch under to lift it, i just lifted it over my head and started squating?

also, what did you use for step ups??

for push ups i found a giant tire leaning against the wall (very ghetto gym) but that was shakey so the next time leaned against the flooring of a boxing ring, but that was pretty tough and had to pause a few times, is that ok?

afterwards, i didnt feel like i was as spent as i could have been, ya know
