I don't mean to be defensive but you seem to be trying to talk to me like I am uneducated... Silly you.

No offense but you obviously are uneducated about the perceived "importance" of breakfast (I'm aware you are still going to take offense to this).

A heap of better controlled studies have shown that meal frequency does not matter for weight loss when controlled for macronutrient and calorie intake.

If someone isn't eating enough, then I agree adding more meals could help them, but so could just eating bigger meals, or more calorie dense meals. The number and timing of meals is not what really matters here. I think that the point that shouldn't be misunderstood.

You can lose weight on 6, or on 2 meals a day, or anything in between. If the person isn't hungry in the morning and is staying on target with their calories, forcing food down their throat just for the sake of "having breakfast" isn't going to help anything.

I agree that taking in carbs after a strenuous workout can be beneficial to your progress, but not exactly for the reasons she proposed. Immediately after you work out, your muscles are much more active in taking up "stuff" such as glucose and amino acids from the blood stream. So if you have sugar in your blood stream after a workout, a lot of it is going to be taken up by the muscles and converted to glycogen, giving you better endurance for future workouts.

its important to note that this is only "important" assuming you have some sort of other taxing workout/event withing a few hours or less later. Your body's glycogen stores refill plenty enough in less than a day.

if you read any of those, you'd see its all correlation. And correlation does not equal causation.

I know we have always heard breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but I personally have ZERO appetite until about 3 hours after I wake up.  It takes me hours to actually get hungry when I first wake up.  So should I just force myself to eat cereal or something?  Like right now I woke up at 5:30am and its 10:30 and I am just now getting hungry. Because I get up so early I sometimes fall asleep at like 8pm, and end up only eating like 1000 calories.

if you don't have any eating disorders and can hit your calorie target for the day, you don't need to eat breakfast.

Actually you should NOT force yourself. Breakfast is not any more important than any other meal. your 24 hour intake is what matters most.

your metabolism isn't going to get "kicked up," and you'd be most likely be better just going home and eating some real food.

I am finally down to a decent weight! I like the size that I am right now. Now, I want to define my muscle or like they say... Get cut! I don't know if I should use heavy weights or light weights... And should I lift them fast or slow.... Should I do a lot of reps or few reps? I just need to know what I should do to define my muscles... My eating is good... I am finally eating clean( like they say). I eat a good bit of proteins daily! Thanks

Some of the latest thinking in training is to switch things up often. The body adapts very easily, and sticking with any one program too long can stagnate your progress.

This is actually not very accurate.

hardly the most filling thing, and not really a prime source of protein, and rather loaded in calories. If you can control yourself to just a few then, sure, they're great, as in any food that keeps you within your calories...

Fitness Ab Workouts Oct 27 2012

"Ripped, toned abs" come from achieving a lower BF (of course you need to have some abs to begin with, under that fat).

As far as good ab workouts, planks are great for strengthening, as are ab wheel roll outs (my favorites). Other "big" workouts like squats and deadlifts also hit the abs as well, for stabilization.

I did not read all comments. Thinking about consuming majority of calories earlier in the day makes sense due to higher metabolism using food for energy. Don't eat a lot 3 hours before you retire. If you are hungry then have a 200 calorie snack.

All of those are huge myths, yes.

The best way to lose weight hands down is fasted cardio. Brisk walk before your first meal of the day for about 30-45 minutes will help you drop pounds easily as long as the diet is in check of course. You can do that 4-6 days a week.

are you suggesting fasted cardio gives a metabolic/psychological advantage to non-fasted cardio?

Fitness Strength training vs. Body Building Oct 16 2012

Muscle density is more of a androgen dependent thing. With strength training the muscle fibres become stronger but not necessarily more dense. Bodybuilding or hypertrophy training leads to greater size and muscle density.

You'll always see the best gains training to absolute failure. If you don't then you're not giving your body a reason to adapt and get stronger.

You don't need to train to failure to get stronger (theres plenty out there that suggests it may work against you as well), just like you don't need to be constantly lifting your max weight to gain more strength.
