I haven't eaten meat since I was 16 (now 43). You'd think that in so many years restaurants would have caught up by now! My experience is that when you ask for something without meat, they look at you like you have antennae growing from your head. When there are no meatless options, I tend to ask for a BLT without the 'B', or just a grinder/hoagie/sub with lettuce, tomato, onion, etc. When I order something like that, it ends up taking twice as long to get the food, and at least half the time I am served something other than what I ordered, like they add chicken, bacon, mayo, or cheese on it (not that I mind mayo or cheese but I am avoiding the calories). I also ask if there is meat in the sauce when I'm ordering pasta or eggplant parm, and the few times I forget I ALWAYS end up with meat in the sauce! |

I want to get rid of the over-lapping gut! And I don't mean muffin top over jeans, I mean the overhang when not wearing pants. It's disgusting and I'm sick of it! (Too bad for me I'm also too lazy to do much exercise lol) |

I don't live alone, but I'm the only vegetarian. I used to just eat the non-meat portion of the family meal, but since I started calorie counting I make my own meal and make only one portion so I can count easily and I can't over-eat. Or, I will make several servings and put them in the freezer right away so I can't easily eat more. I tend to pop veggies in a ziploc baggie and toss them in the microwave for a minute or so. I don't add water because I can't stand mushy veggies and they come out delicious. I usually just toss them with red pepper flakes, onion powder or whatever spice I feel like but once in a while I'll toss them in margarine (butter may actually be better for you but I can't stand even the smell of real butter lol). Since you are alone, you have complete control of what comes into your kitchen. Stock your cupboards with only healthy low calorie foods and it won't be as bad if you eat more because what you eat will be lower calorie.

| Weight Loss | Shorties! (5'3 and under) with 10-20 lbs to lose | Mar 21 2012 20:42 (UTC) |

I'm 5'3", weigh 138-139, goal weight is 120 for now but that's not carved in stone. I'm also gaining/losing the same 3 pounds (going between 139 and 141). Scale this morning was 138.6 I'm hoping the curse is broken and I can keep going down from there. I have a vacation coming up in April which would normally be a bad thing for someone on a diet, but we're going to Washington D.C. where we do nothing but walk from place to place and walk at each place! That will be more exercise than I've had all added up in the last 8 months! I can't wait. |

| Weight Loss | what are the foods that can replace sweets? | Mar 20 2012 23:45 (UTC) |

Grapes, oranges, strawberries, and sugar free gum are my go-to's. Grapes are my favorite (red are the sweetest). I keep a bag in the fridge and will even grab just one grape once in a while to curb a craving. Major cravings I grab a bunch (and weigh it so I can enter total weight instead of counting grapes which could be off due to their size). I also will get the 'fat cow' chocolates every once in a while. The single pack has 5 pieces of chocolate covered caramel and crispies and they are very good. I usually eat one piece after a meal and save the rest but you could work the whole pack (120 cals) into your day once in a while. |

I have only lost 27 pounds but I've gone from 16/18 to 6. I waited before buying new ones, but now all the 10's then 8's that I bought thinking they'd last for a while are too big, had to get 6's (even bought one size 4 that are just slightly too tight ~happy dance~). Maybe we could start a clothing exchange. I can send my 8's and 10's, 12's, 16's, and 18's around to people just reaching those sizes, and someone else can send me the 6's that don't fit them anymore LOL We could have a clothing chain letter merry-go-round! |

Yeah, I know they are totally optional, but to be honest, it turns my stomach every time I read it. Borderline offensive even. I was just thinking that since the nutritional achievements are connected to the diet you've chosen, maybe all the achievements could cross-check to make sure they aren't opposing the diet choice. |

I've chosen a vegetarian diet but one of my 'additional achievements' is 'try 3 different kinds of fish'.
I don't eat fish so I'll never reach this achievement and I honestly have no desire to try to reach it. Is there a way to skip an achievement (or have this one removed from the vegetarian diet)? ~~~~~It's not a big deal, really, I just saw other suggestions put into place and decided to ask about this. No big deal if it can't be done~~~~~ |

1. Calorie Count Name (user id): Allytia I've lost about 13 pounds (not sure of the exact amount) so far, about 30 left to go. (I was stuck at 9 pounds lost until I read on here about the 1200 cal/day minimum, THANK YOU!!!) |

The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
