Thanks for the replies! Im going to get new shoes soon and if those dont take care of it, then im going to stay off the treadmill for awhile and use the elliptical.

I dont have the extra money for a sports doctor...plus like Rgupta19 said, i can find stretches and such on here that could help.

Hmm....that sounds like a good idea, but do you try and write every letter? or specific ones? I think I might fall trying that! LOL

Fitness Does Jogging cause more sleep? Jul 25 2008

Ive recently started interval jogging. Ive noticed that im pretty tired pretty early now. Im ready for bed around 9-9.30 rather than 10-10.30..but i also get up at 6.30am......I usually go to the gym anywhere between 6-8pm, so its not too long after I get home that I go to bed. If you go during the day, maybe try taking a multivitamin and see if it helps you. When i take one, i dont feel as tired throughout the day.

thanks everyone. ive decided that i would rather feel a little guilty for not going, than to go and cause myself to get worse. ive been coughing for a week straight now and every day its a little better, but there is still obvious congestion in my chest...so...ill wait.

Thanks, Melkor. I think you are right. I still have quite a bit of chest congestion, so maybe another couple days will be the best thing to do.

Well, i would try something else before trying diet pills. For example, I went to a Nutrition store and got powered protein for shakes. I only use one scoop with 8oz of milk (1 scoop is a snack, 2 is a meal) and that is enough to keep me feeling full for close to 4 hours! Ive also learned to snack on 100 cal packs, nuts, fruit and veggies and I get my chocolate fix from chocolate milk. Sometimes I dip fruit in a little bit of Nutella (i use half of the serving size for ONE apple) or Peanut Butter.  So, before trying diet pills to suppress your hunger and then be starving once they wear off, try snacking on healthier foods and you dont have the guilt!

My husband wanted to order that one night, the meaty marinara kind. I ordered it for him, but did not eat it. It was a HUGE pan that it came in, so I can see where the whole pan would be that many calories....

Maybe you are retaining water. I would make sure to drink a ton of water. Some days i drink sooo much water that I feel water logged until the next day! Also..if its close to TTOM, you could be retaining water and that will add some weight. When I first started going to the gym, not long ago, i wasnt losing weight on the scale, so i got a measuring tape and found that i was losing inches! You might try that too!

Weight Loss Is there one in EVERY family? Apr 25 2008

well there's definately one in my family, if not 2. My grandpa had the nerve last year, on Mothers Day (the first one with my 2nd baby) to tell me that I was fat. This man looks like he's 9 months pregnant. So, I ripped into him, my 81 year old grandfather, and you can bet he never said another word to me.

Now, my own father, on the other hand, "Jokingly" calls me fat..when he too has NOOO room to talk. He's always trying to tell me how he's lost weight, and ive just returned the favor--i laugh at him and tell him YEAH RIGHT. He gets offended and I remind him how it makes me feel when he does the same thing to me.

I think its such a great accompolishment that you have lost that weight, and if she doesnt see it, then she's blind. But chances are, she sees it and she doesnt like it!!! Jealousy.

ETA: The reason I said that about my dad and grandpa, is that now that im losing, they havent said ONE WORD about it....

Chips...the thought of them makes me feel icky...

Pop...well, i have given it up 97% of the time..i have it once in a blue moon, but now i drink water mostly.

Smoking...but I gave that up before I got serious about weightloss...ive been smoke free for 2 years. Man, i didnt realize what a toll smoking a pack to a pack and a half a day for close to 8 years (apart from during pregnancy) had on my lungs!

Fried food...grease makes me feel ill.

When I wail about how fat I look in a dress, no one ever says "no you don't" because I do! It's no exaggeration. But you're right about my skinny friend. She is looking for reassurance. Even more than that, I'm relatively certain the girl has some deeper issues anyway. It's gotten to the point that I can't talk to her at ALL when something is bothering me, no matter how important it is. My grandmother has been sick recently and I was having a weak moment. When I tried to talk to said friend about it, she tried to turn it into a pissing contest - whose life was worse at the moment. I am a good friend. I have no problem listening to her when she's down. Without throwing my own stuff in there. But with this girl...I don't know if she's self-centered or just oblivious. But it is impossible to have a serious conversation with her, without her trying to shift the focus to how miserable she is. On the one hand, it makes me furious. On the other hand, I feel bad for her, because if she really is that miserable in her own skin, she has a long road ahead of her.

I will say, I am infinitely more confident in myself AND my body now than I used to be. And I'm still young - only 21!! My body looks significantly worse now than it did when I was in my early teens (seeing as I've gained loads of weight) but it's my body and I love it. I'm not quite to the point that I'm comfortable walking around naked with all the lights on when my significant other is in the room, but I'm getting there.

irishmum - the funny thing about bodies is that I don't have two kids. I don't have any kids! And my boobs most DEFINITELY look like tennis balls in socks. They always have, even when I was 16. It's not very attractive, but I've gotten used to it. It's just one of those things that goes along with being - shall we say, well endowed? I'm right there with you on the stretch marks and the muffin top!! Oh well, like I said, it's the only body I've got, I may as well take care of it and love it in spite of the things I can not fix!!

well, i think the best thing for you would be to not talk to her about important things in your life. if you have other friends or family that are better listeners, instead of competitors, i'd rely on them to be my support system, if i was you. i remember a girl i used to be friends with who was exactly like that, no matter what, her situation was always worse. I distanced myself from her and stopped talking about important things with her and when she'd try and complain to me, i'd just be like 'hmm..' 'mmhmm' 'thats too bad' and not really give much of myself to try and make her feel better because i knew next time i talked to her, it would be the same thing...eventually we stopped being friends and honestly, i dont care! Good luck to you on this, its sometimes hard to deal with!

Yeah, i totally know what you mean. I have these inlaws (who luckily live across the country from us) and even though I dont talk to them about MY weight problems, its obvious ive put on some weight in the last 4 years (2 kids in 2 years plus birth control issues). Well, my MIL is a size 1..my SIL is a size 2 and when we go visit, all i hear from them is how they need to be exercising..or how they eat. Personally, i dont think i would enjoy life too much if all i ate was things like a cardboard box type of food. They make sure and let me know that they dont eat sweets, they only use 2 packets of splenda in their coffee, they dont put butter, sour cream, or salt on their baked potatos, they dont eat beef--only turkey...and i always wonder WHY they feel the need to share this with me when I didnt ask. I get really tired of hearing about it when they are obviously tooth picks. I CANT WAIT UNITL MY SIL HAS A BABY!!!! isnt that mean of me? hahaha

Yeah, i think im similar to you. Usually, im lucky to get 1200 cals a day. I have trouble eating breakfast (not hungry) usually I eat a pb&j for lunch..then later some sort of snack.....then I have dinner and I usually dont eat what I should, but im not hungry. If i drink protein shakes, then i wont be hungry at all for a good 4 hours.

gi-jane...i have a really hard time finishing my food at dinner time. Sometimes, i try and finish it even though im feeling extremely full, then i feel guilty for eating past feeling full.

Well, thats the first time ive worked out to the extent that I did last night..and yes, i do believe i was dehydrated because I hadnt drank enough water yesterday. I downed a big bottle of water while i was working out, but that didnt do me alot of good considering i hadnt had enough through out the entire day and i was sweating ALOT. I drank a ton of water when i got home and i went to bed about an hour after i got home. I am still pretty "deconditioned" as i just started to the gym a couple months ago...thanks for the input yall!! ill see how i feel next time i go =]

Fitness Does doing cardio constitiute a "workout"? Apr 16 2008

Original Post by mrsdagle:

working hard enough to feel a burn, get a little high and needing to cool down.  When I started walking, it was definitely a workout because I was so out of shape.  But 5 weeks later I needed more.  I started Tae Bo cardio and Learn to Run.  my legs burn.  I may look slow and sloppy but I'm working my body harder than it has in a long time.  Now I have Billy Blanks Basic Training Bootcamp and I can't even do it all.  There is a lot burn and agony there.

I think it's individual.  I can dance and bust a move but that's not working out because my body is used to it.

I absolutley agree with you. I think its individual. For me, when I first started walking awhile back (before the gym) that was a workout for me at that time because it was something my body wasnt used to at all and it wore me out to walk a mile! Now, walking isnt much to me, thats one reason why i barely use the treadmill anymore. When I first started using the elliptical, that was definately a workout for ME --it totally kicked my tail! Now, i dont consider the elliptical alone a work out. Every time I go to the gym just about, is a workout because i do cardio and weights every single time i go--by the time I am done, I have pushed my self so hard that im shaking for the rest of the evening. If i was just going for cardio too, i wouldnt feel like i had a work out either! So i think its just individual, some people struggle just to walk 10 minutes on a treadmill, so to them, thats probably a work out, where to me, its not! =]
