Weight Loss Ketosis? Mar 31 2008

Doing this for 1 day will not put your body into ketosis. It'll take about a week. And if you eat any kind of carbs during that week, it will stall ketosis.

A diet of macadamia nuts and cream cheese is absolutley and completely unhealthy any way you look at it.

Young Calorie Counters What do you look for in your "Ideal Mate"? Mar 31 2008

My friend was telling me about this the other day.. some scientist people did a study and tested a bunch of guys.. made them wear the same shirt without washing it for 20 days or something like that. Then they had women smell the shirts and see which one the were most attracted to. Most women chose the shirts of men who had the largest gene difference with them. The larger the gene gap, the smaller chance there will be for mutations in offspring. So I guess opposites do attract.

And smell is a huge part of finding a mate. If you think they are funny, smart, etc, but they STINK... it's not going to work out.

what do you do? what do you say?

thanks for any advice

What do you do?

1) PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE

2) KICK HIM IN THE BABYMAKER

What do you say?

1) I wrote something but it is innapropriate, but something along the lines of &%$#&%$@&%$*^&(^$&*^%#$% !!!!!!!!

But seriously! You are at a healthy weight, and since he's you dad... I'm thinking my options are not available. I would tell your mommy... or his mommy for that fact, about how arrogant and rude he is. Or you could write him a letter about how that makes you feel. And maybe.. just maybe he'll take his head out of his bumhole and realize that his daughter has feelings.

Sorry if I seem harsh, but this kind of stuff really gets me going. My parents never said anything that rude, but they would say.. "If you lost 10lbs you would be so pretty." "Are you still hungry? Didn't you just eat?" etc. and that was a major cause of my first attempt at dieting (I was 5'2 and 127lbs.. a little plump but not massive) Then I decided that I might as well kill myself through starvation because I never felt good enough. Now that I am really overweight they don't dare say anything about what I eat.

I'd TRY to ignore him for now. Eat whatever and whenever you feel like it (within reasonably healthy standards of course) Laughing One day you'll have your own kitchen, and you won't have to deal with him. Don't let him intimidate you, and if he gets mad because you're not listening, ignore him still. It's like a small child trying to get attention.. and you are too mature to give it to him.

Everyone I know that was on this diet ended up broke and fatter than the first place.

~H~

Agreed. And when they can no longer afford the shots and attempt the starvation diet on thier own, they are terribly disheartened when they do not lose 5 lbs/week and feel like absolute crap because they are not being pumped with the "energy vitamin". I'd say finish the two months, and then learn to eat healthily on your own. And by healthily i mean slowly up your cals to ABOVE 1200, and start introducing carbs. Because you can't live off of chicken breasts and celery sticks forever.

That dolphin fish is very cute!!! hehe i like things with pushed in faces.. pugs, bulldogs, persian kitties!

Back to the topic, I had mahimahi in mexico and it was awsome!

I'd recomend putting it in a foil pouch with some sliced cherry tomatoes, herbs, lemon juice, and green onion.

Or in a foil pouch with seasonings and sliced lemon wedges placed ontop.

The foil pouch keeps it moist and seals in the flavor.

Oh that sounds goood!!!

I made something like that once (got it from a cookcook)

Take 1 tbsp fat free cool whip (20)

and mix it with 1 tbsp peanut butter (90) to make a "fluffy" PB

Then take a fat free chocolate pudding cup (60)

and layer the two into a bowl. the whole dessert is like 170cal, and freaking awesome!

Fitness blurry vision? Mar 22 2008

This happens to me sometimes while I'm at work. 2x a week I'm on my feet all day so busy that I almost never get lunch in until 3. (Breakfast around 8:30!)

When I do this, I'm not "hungry" because I'm so destracted, I know that I need to eat when my pace starts to slow, my eye's get blurry and I can't concentrate, and I get irritable. After I have a bite to eat everything goes back to normal. I'm thinkin it's the blood sugar. And since a protein shake doesn't have much sugar/carbs in it, that's probably why you where low until you ate a real meal.

When a situation like this happens I have two options.

1) Cut it into portions, saying that I will pace myself and enjoy it moderatley, then end up eating the entire thing within a matter or 10 minutes..

2) Throw it into the garbage and then cover it with dish soap, bleach, toilet cleaner, air freshner, or something else of the poisonous nature, to make sure that I do not eat it. The poison is essential in order to assure yourself that you will not pick it out of the garbage.

However this is just me, If you actually have self control then I would recomend saving a piece for youself, then sharing it with others.

Choco9- "I would discourage you from throwing it away. I do not believe in wasting food/energy/someone's time... whether it is for calorie counting or not."

I really hate wasting food too.. one of the main reasons I am fat! but cake and junk isn't really "food". It will not give you any benefit from eating it, it's kind of like eating sugar coated paper. I try and look at it like this - If you end up eating it, you will absorb all the calories, and then have it come out as waste anyways. (poop! hehe) Energy cannot be created or destroyed, if you don't eat it, something else (probably bacteria) will.

lol this may sounds wierd but when I was gaining I could easily binge on full fat icecream (1-2 tubs a day).. but I could NEVER bring myself to eat a regular whole wheat sandwhich.

I would do what kory suggest, take it slow. Have a tsp of pb on a celery stick for a snack, have one whole egg mixed in with some egg beaters, try having a "diet" or "healthy" cookie at first. It's totally a mental thing, they feel unsafe to you so naturally your instinct is going to be to stay away from these foods. Try tricking yourself into eating them by hiding them, or having "just a taste" every now and then. Eventually it will be easier.

haha or if you go to a bar, they always cheap you out on booze. When I make a drink at home, using a 1ounce measure, it tastes nothing like the watered-down stuff they give you at a club.

My massage thereapist told me to roll up a towel length-wise, place in on the ground and lay on it so it's along your spine, then spread your arms out at a 90degree angle. Stay like that for atleast 30seconds or longer. Then take the towel and place it horizontaly across the lower part of your shoulderblades, hold for 30seconds, then keep moving up your back about an inch until you reach your neck, holding for 30seconds each time.

It's supposed to stretch and release the muscles along your spine. It's been working so far for me.

Maybe you are actually "big boned"? I know alot of people say that, buts it's possible that you are, and that's why your doctor remarked that you would never lbe as thin? I think you could probably get down to 120, but if you do have a large bone structure you may find yourself happier and healthier at a higher weight. I am also 5'2, and I have a medium frame.. My goal is like 115-120.

I think as long as you put OTHER things inside your sandwhiches, you will be okay. If you really love bread, then stick with that as your main source of grains. You could also try pitas or crackers for a quick switch up every now and then.

For sandwhiches try peanut butter and banana, grilled cheese, egg or tuna salad, hummus with veggies, a veggie or beef patty with cheese, the combos are endless. But you deffinatley need more variety. Try carrying an orange or pear to switch it up from the apples, and add a glass of milk to your breakfast sandwhich.

My grandfather used to eat a loaf of bread a day. As long as you have other things with that, you should be fine.

"Ideal Mate?" haha "Not bradlupis", sorry man.

Although I wouldn't be your type anyways because I'm overweight, blond, get pimples, do not belive in open relationships, want to major in science (however I'm not boring, jeez), am sarcastic, and fit under the stereotype of liking an actractive man who actually wants to be with me.

If you ever do find a woman that meets the majority of your criteria, good on you. But you might have to pay for it, in cash.

I do agree with you on your last point though, I would never have a junkie as my partner.

I'm not very religious, so it's just a time when me and my family can go out to my nana's, have some good traditional food, and be together. It's kind of like christmas!

Foods Fat-soluble vitamins in fat-free foods? Mar 18 2008
17:43 (UTC)

Simply because vegetables are not humans. The structure in the food doesn't change, it is fat soluble before and after you put it into your body. It's just that your body needs a little fat added to help it absorb all the nutrients. That's the idea with salad dressings, a little fat helps you to absorb all the benefits of veggies.

Plants are different than animals. You could not survive off of water and dirt. Plants absorb nutrients differently than we do.

Raluka -  "Fat soluble' is a description of how those vitamins are dealt with by the body, it doesn't mean they are dissolved in fat in the vegetable itself!"
