I rarely reply to posts but I just had to after i read yours!
This reverse anorexia you talk about, I have it too! I call it fatorexia! I think I'm still mildly overweight like I was in college with my little shirts and tight pants that looked good. In the mirror I saw a well proportioned larger woman, but not obese. The wakeup call hit me in two stages, right after another. 1- I had a big birthday/wedding anniversay bash on the beach, and a friend of mine who was a professional photographer took lovely pics, well i THOUGHT they were amnazing till i saw them. I was utterly SHOCKED, i didnt realize that i LOOKED like that. I dont see that in the mirror. aND YOUR MIND CANT change the picture. I was so shocked i turmed to my husband and told him why didnt anyone tell me i look like this?
2- within the same week i went to the dr for a checkup because i wasnt feeling to well, long story short, i am pre-diabetic, potential thyroid problems, and my PCO has flared horribly, which causes infertility, and I am 26. The dr wrote me a long list of medication and prescribed it and also said that diet and exercise and perseverance will help, but since most people cant do this, because weight loss is so slow they end up quitting, i will just write you the meds.
I was 40% fat and around 91 kgs on May 7th, I have lost 3.5 kgs and been to the gym roughly around 5-6 times a week. My appetite has gone down and i never feel the crazy cravings like i used to, because i decided that it was my own laziness and stubborness that got me here, and i need to change this or will end up taking meds to try to fix all ive broken.
I still have a very long journey, and i have tried and failed numerous times before, but i feel like this is that one time that it will work, because of that a-haa moment.

HI Jules and everyone!
Sorry didn't post last week, I had food poisoning! Right after the flu, weird! I think my metabolism is shot because I ate hardly anything for a whole week (chicken soup and dry toast), then this week i am eating 'normally' and gained 1 kg. I had to skip some workouts of course because of the jumping didn't help my tummy. Will get back on track next week.
Do you guys recommend going hardcore low carb to jump start (1300 cals but with almost no carbs like South Beach)? Or normal within 1300 cals with the recommended range here on calorie counter?
Let me know what you think, or what has worked for you for jump starting.
thanks xoxo

Merry Christmas everyone!
Ok so i lost no weight this week, but I have been working my bum off!
CW 195lbs
I am doing insanity and marathon training regularly, I just can't seem to get my eating in check with all the family visiting and old friends here for the holiday vacation. My day starts out perfect with boiled egg and low fat yoghurt, tuna for lunch, then bomb it totally for dinner and top it off for dessert :S
The amount of calories don't pass 1500-1800 but i guess its the fact that the bulk of it is in the evening. |

Hi Everyone.
I'm back after horrible cold and coughing fit!
My stats are:
CW: [88.5 kgs, 195 lbs ]
Goal weight: [65 kg , about 145 lbs]
Measurements: Height: 171 cm about 5'7'' Bust: 107 cm [42 in]
Waist: 100 cm (measured 3 fingers above belly button) [39]
Hips: 117 cm (measured 4 fingers below belly button) [46]
It is cold here (for Egypt, of course Europe is freezing, we don't use heating and the nights are 5-7 degrees, and its now 12 in my house!) so I am feeling famished more than usual, and yogurt, boiled eggs and apples arent cutting it so i HAVE been having bread. [my tummy growling loudly in a meeting yesterday was very embarrassing!]
However I started INSANITY yesterday, and today i will do day 2 work out. I think the exercise will help. I will also try to cut back on the carbs. Today i just had eggs for breakfast, and green apple for snack, and will have yogurt or tuna for lunch. Will see what for dinner, but probably stew meat with a veggie (green beans ?) and brown rice.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!

| Weight Loss | How do you hold yourself accountable? | Nov 14 2011 07:38 (UTC) |

First, I learned the hard way, I have to be reasonable in my expectations of myself. I cant eat low cal, do cardio 4 times a week and weight training 4x week, and expect myself to stay on track. SO I take baby steps to get into the routine. I use my exercise programs to keep me on 'track'. So for example, I am almost at the end of my C25k, for exercise I am currently ONLY doing that, and I am almost done! I have an excel sheet which I update weekly, so that also helps. Once I finish, I will continue jogging 3x/week, but add in something else. Probably INSANITY, or something with a program, so that I can do the same thing, tick off the completed days. As for the food, I use CC, and do a weekly weigh-in and evaluation on Saturday. So if I haven't logged then I wont be able to calculate what was I supposed to lose vs. how much I did lose. Also I make it a strong point to log everything, even the cheats or bad foods I eat, so I can SEE what I did and for example see how nutritionally horrible marshmallows are. And how an apple would've given me more fiber, and only cost be 80 cals. It is a conscience decision that you make. I know for a fact 4 years ago, I couldn't do this on my own. I didn't have the will power or the mindset. Hope this helps! |

| Weight Loss | Exercising with asthma HELP! | Nov 03 2011 09:38 (UTC) |

I can totally relate because I had the same problem. I had so many allergies and a child and to top it off, EIA (exercise induced asthma). I hated PE and never was extremely athletic.
This year I finally decided to overcome it.
It is a vicious cycle, because it gets worse with exercise, but to help treat it you should exercise, duh... I want to tell you that now I can go for 30 mins without feeling like I have to die, this is a person who used to go for 5 mins, be red in the face and wheezing like there is no tomorrow. My advice is 1) consult your DR, he/she needs to know that you plan to start exercising, also because there are different inhalers that work better for working out 2) slow but steady, when I would try to keep up with my husband i would get out of wind easily and thus go much shorter times before I had to walk. Don be afraid of your pace, I am slower than the 65 yo lady that trots next to me in the track :) 3) Have your inhaler with you at all times, and if you are with someone, let them know that you carry an inhaler. 4) My dr recommended to puff 2 puffs before exercising, like 10 mins before. It works, but I try not to do it no just to see how well my lungs have adapted. 5) Drink something warm before you go running/jogging. I find that it helps delay the wheezing. I think it opens the airways or something.
Goodluck! Don't give up! You can do couch to 5 K since it is intervals and you can pace yourself! Let me know if you need any buddy support because I know how discouraging it can be!

THIS This is what I mean...shouldn't the policies or government of the country be somehow a middle ground, and you can choose to go left or right? To prevent extremism to the left OR right. No disrespect to either side, and each person can find his comfort place. |

I am baffled tbh... I respect everyone beliefs but don't understand why must they be enforced on everyone, and why can't there be a middle ground. |

- Education is too cheap *Jawdrop!!!* Too cheap for who exactly? I can't move back until I finish the education I want so I am not in perpetual debt! (and NOT talking about undergrad degree!)
There is the opposite issue here, where college is almost free, (Law school is 500$ a YEAR) but then we have too many graduates with low quality education. Private universities are much more expensive of course but the idea of taking a loan is not yet common here. If you [your parents] can afford it, they will send you to private uni, if not then apply for public uni.
In Germany for example university is free, recently been upped to 500 Euro/semester for grad degrees. PLUS you get paid to do your PHD, a research salary monthly, you don't have to apply for a special fellowship or anything. But they don't seem to have the massive amounts of mediocre graduates. Because they have an intense high school system , which starting from junior high assesses the children and as they move up they need to maintain across the board a certain level to be eligible to go to certain colleges. To my understanding it is like there are Universities, then technical colleges, then diploma giving institutes, and based on your category from school, then you apply to which category of higher education. Now is that fair? I am not sure, but it seems to be working for them. Maybe reducing the loans, BUT in hand reducing the fees, and making the selection process more intense would help? Or making state schools substantially cheaper to get into?

I don't think you should bring it up with her for many reasons, first of all, I am sure she knows she is large and should lose weight. Second of all, if you damage your relationship it might be hard to mend. Maybe you can get your spouse to bring it up with her. In a nice way, like he saw a show or something and he is afraid it might trigger some heath issues. I understand you are concerned, but you might hurt her feelings, without even convincing her. goodluck |

What are the anti-abortion group's thoughts on rape or incest or cases which abortion is needed for mother's health?
It's kind of simple where I am from, even though people would think we are 'backwards' being from the Middle East (even though Egypt is technically African) Abortion is 'allowed' BEFORE 3 months. It is generally frowned upon, and the Dr will try to talk you out of it, but you can get it done. Some Dr's might refuse to do it, and suggest you speak to your family first or go to someone else. After 3 months it has to be for a medical reason, in consult with other Dr's. Now, does that make us a pro- or anti- society? Generally not. It is to each his own, but IF you do choose to get an abortion, you prob don't want to advertise it unless you want your family guilt tripping you. There is a saying in Arabic which means, "In necessity there are exceptions". And I think there can never be a clear cut WRONG or RIGHT on this one. But we have devised a thin frame of reference. Aboloshing abortion --> what about health cases. or harm to the mom (if the mom dies how is that pro-life? I dont get that!) Abortion free for all --> 6 month abortions don't seem too right
What is our frame of reference? Laws in Egypt are a mish-mash of French law (we were occupied for a while) and Islamic law. Islam has touched on the subject and it is generally interpreted that pre-second trimester it is ok. Now people have different views on the necessity , meaning some people say, like its intended to be ok only if the mother will be harmed, or others say, well if the child has a life threatening illness. But in the end, it [Islam] is open to each person's judgement and interpretation. We have a diverse population with Muslims and Christians, with very orthodox religious views, and people with more lax ones. I think no one is bothered that the 'option' is there for people who opt for it. It is the same concept how Muslims don't (or shouldn't) drink, but alcohol is readily available in Egypt. It's there, but you don't have to drink it. And if you do, then its your choice, and between you and your God/faith//belief.
