Alyssa,

I know how you feel. As soon as I see alittle bit of progress it goes down hill from there. I'm the same way about logging my food. If I'm telling someone about it, I'm able to stay on track but if I'm just doing it myself I don't stick with it for more than a couple of days.

I haven't been on track for at least a week. I'm trying to get to the gym everyday, but if I miss a day I can't seem to get back into the routine. I love working out because it gives me a great feeling it's just tough to make it to the gym sometimes. Hopefully I'll start back tomorrow. I also need to get back on track with what I eat. Today I completely binged and lost control completely. I stayed home all day and basically stuffed my face. Embarassed Hopefully tomorrow will be a frest start for me after weeks of half way trying (which isn't going to get my anywhere!)

Alanah,

Congratulations on getting to 124.6!!! That's great!!

Alanah,

That's a great idea about the "countdown" on your calender. I'm gonna try it, keep it in my school binder lol.

I did want to point out something thou... I know you've heard this before b/c I've heard it A TON... Are you sure you are getting enough calories?

You may be pushing your body too hard on too little calories and that could be why you're getting sick so much??? If you don't want to eat alot, you should definitely try taking a multi vitamin or two? Just make sure you are taking care of yourself.

:-)

tryin2lose25,

i've just recently started to learn about nutrition. one thing i've learned is that you can substitute everything from your past eating with something else that's much healthier! for example, the mashed potatoes, sub sweet potatoes... white bread, bagels, pasta etc, sub wheat bread, wheat bagels, wheat pasta. now i LOVE the taste of wheat bread and bagels, I can eat them by themselves and wheat pasta is Awesome! you can't even tell a difference with sauce on top!

I love carbs and this is an awesome way for me to get them without feeling guilty! :-)

hope some of this helps

alanah,

earlier today i was feeling a bit delirious but after a protein bar i was as good as new! lol, so i think i'm going to go to the ab class but take your advise and skip out on cardio today

hey tryin2lose25,

you should try eating some protein in the morning, like eggs or cottage cheese, something filling. granola, fruit, and yogurt maybe

the thing about special k it that it adds lots of fillers i've heard which doesn't fill you up. definitely try to get alot of protein and fiber in your diet- that'll keep ya full and satisfied

----

i didn't sleep last night. pulled an all nighter... i ate a little bit throughout the night. does that count for yesterday's calories or today's? also should i even try to work out today? there's an ab class at my gym and i really need to go cuz i haven't gone in awhile.... maybe a power nap before hand? lol

good day yesterday unless you count all the cals i had throughout the night :-/

small success:i refused the most delicious piece of cheescake i've ever seen. Cool

which is good cause i was all the way up to 1400-1500 cals today! ah! but i did enjoy some yummy greek food for dinner at a friend's house.

no gym today Cry

alanah, that's an awesome acheivement. i don't think i could've handled all of that food at once! especially with the sea food, i would have gone off the deep end, lol. great job!!

Also your food log looks a lot like mine. i took a couple of your ideas such as hummus, yum!

goal for tomorrow- keep cals up and go to the gym!

Alanah,

I do strength training and cardio. I've heard that strength training is the best to burn fat, but i love cardio so i compromise and do both. I don't enjoy lifting weights lol. However today i went to a weight training "chisel" class and that helped alot. It was much more enjoyable with a bunch of women and an instructor with loud music than being by myself. i find it soo boring by myself!

Also today i was only able to get up to 1125 give or take about 100... I know that's horrible, ah!

so tomorrow's goal is to pre-prepare my lunch to take with me so i am able to get my cals high enough.

small success: I actually made it to the gym.

goal: Go to the gym at least 4 times this week!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, what do all of you eat throughout the day? I'm trying to get my cals up and eat healthy too, but I'm getting tired of the same old thing and also I can never come up with new things to try, haha. i don't have alot of time and usually have to bring stuff to school with me.

hey everyone,

so yesterday i had a huge binge. eh... I ate cereal, yogurt and a banana for breakfast and then i completely binged on chips and dip, cookies, and donuts. at night i had a bagel and cream cheese. HORRIBLE day, and i felt soooo bad afterwards. I felt really sick that night.

so today i'm getting back into it.. i'm feeling much more motivated after feeling that bad. i can't even look at a sugary snack without feeling sick!

Yeah, I agree. I eat about the same about of cals. I try to stay around 1300 on days that I don't exercise and days that I do exercise I go up to 1400 to 1500. I'm still trying to get outta starvation mode so I have a hard time getting my cals up cause I don't like to feel full. But I think this many cals should be fine for me. Like Alanah said, I don't work out athletically either. I work out for a long period of time but it's usually slow weight training and/or light cardio like jog/walk intervals.

Hey everyone!

So this weekend I wasn't very good. No exercise, bad food. So I'm trying to start fresh and get back into cal counting. I'm still confused on how many cals I should be eating b/c I'm still hearing multiple opinions. I'm trying to get out of starvation mode and I'm eating 1300 -1500 cals everyday. trying to stay closer to 1400. Is that too much?? Is 1200 too little?? ah.. well I started working out monday. Trying to get to the gym everyday. Not today, too much homework.

Alanah, I love smoothies. I usually have strawberries, bananas, ff vanilla yogurt, and added fiber or protein. I have one almost everyday to help me get my fruit, dairy and fiber in. It's pretty much a staple for me now.

Krrpt, that park sounds awesome! I love jogging as well but usually just on the treadmills. there are way too many hills in my neighborhood.

 personaltrainer87
that's awesome how you eat so naturally. It's so hard to do. It would be great to have someone to challenge me. I just need some motivation to hit the gym and stay on top of what i eat.

anyways, still just trying to stay in it.

Hey alanah,

I agree with you 100% about the weather! I can't cover up anymore with sweatshirts and jeans so I'm getting nervous, but it does help with motivation! Having to show off my gross arms is NOT fun! I'll def have to try the lunges and squats. I've been lifting weights for my arms  for the last few days so hopefully I'll start seeing results soon enough. But I don't think I'm using heavy enough weights, or not doing enough reps... Hmm,  Also, starting today I'll be going to classes at my gym so hopefully I'll stick to that! Weird schedule thou so doesn't always work with my school schedule. Can't wait for my week off! Glad to hear that you're feeling pos about this weight loss/lifestyle change. That's the hardest part sometimes. Undecided

Hope everyone is doing well with their goals!

Hey thank you all!

I will definitely check out those websites. My gym does offer classes, 2 of which I'm going to today! Smile Hopefully that will help! My gym offered a complimentary personal training class which helped a small bit. I'll have to find out about getting help with a workout routine. That's a great idea going at off hours! There is a woman's only room that I use b/c I can't get up the nerve to go upstairs. But the woman's room doesn't offer as many options so I'll def go when not many [body builders] are there, haha

Thanks so much for the advice!

Hey everyone,

Yes, summer is SOOO close! I get out of school on May 7th. Ah! So I'm really hoping I'll start losing soon. Went to the gym today, and have plans to go tomorrow, so hopefully I'll stick to them! Haha I don't really like weight training thou, cause I don't know what to do. But I've heard cardio isn't good for burning fat Undecided  What does everyone do that is the most beneficial for you??

Just trying to stay on track. It's kind of de-motivating to be gaining weight and not losing but I am definitely making sure to keep my cals up.

Congratulations, jinderbitzen on losing 15! That's awesome! I bet that's the best motivation in the world to see results!

Last friday was day 5 skipped sat and sun; so tomorrow day 6 hahahaha

Now just trying to stick with it which is the hardest part

Here, I posted something similar to your topic and I got a couple of replies. I'm in the same boat as you, but I've realized that I have to get my calories up if I'm ever going to lose weight. So... here's the link for a list of high cal, healthy foods:

http://caloriecount.about.com/high-calorie-he althy-foods-help-ft134599

If you suddenly increase your cals you will definitely gain weight at first but if you continue to work as hard as you are then you'll start losing soon. I've just started increasing my cals and I'm terrified of gaining weight, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Hope this helps. Increase your cals to where they should be and you'll see better results then 10 pounds in 3 months.

Okay great thank! I'll go to costco. Yeah, I never order anything online because you can ALWAYS find it in some store, you just gotta search.

I don't think I'd wanna read that book. I get phobias too quickly and I already don't eat enough. Lol, I'd never eat anything!

Hey, thanks for the link! Do you think a local bookstore would carry this book, so I don't have to order it?

Weight Loss 1200 cals a day... not working Apr 01 2009

Hey thanks for the reply. I have started working out at the gym recently so my goal is exactly what you said, lose the weight naturally. I'm doing it the "hard way" lol. A friend of mine has told me to increase my cals to 1500 on days when I work out, so I'll be trying that. I'm trying not to slow my metabolism more than it already is so I'm trying to stay at or a little bit over 1200.

I've also seen 105-110 as a healthy weight as well. but right now i'm not concerned with how much i weigh but how i look. i have excess fat that i want to get rid of, and i'm assuming its 15-20 lbs worth but i could be over estimating.

and 107 was last year, same height, and i still had a little extra fat. but like i said, i don't care about how much i weigh, because if i gain muscle, i'll weigh the same but won't have as much fat. thats my goal. i just generalized it at 20 lbs. thanks for your concern thou :-)
