Hi Slimmer!

Sounds like we are similar.  I started at 216.  Good idea to break it up into more manageable pieces.  Makes it more attainable.

Welcome to the group! :)

I'm struggling this week.  I'm catching a cold, sneezing, coughing . . . but it's not quite full blown.  Just enough to drain my motivation and make me want to stay curled up on the couch.  My husband is wrapping up the current rehab project so I won't see him much the next few weeks which makes it difficult to cook decent meals.  Cooking for one is hard!  So I'm not eating the right things at the right times.  I'll have my grand blessings over night tomorrow night (4 and 2 year old girls) so I hope some of my energy returns by then.  Hoping to be a pound or 2 down tomorrow but who knows how it will look after this funky week.  Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress!

Hi PlaidPooka!

Welcome back to the struggle! :)

My hub has always been thin too.  He rehabs houses for a living so is very active all day.  But his habit is to eat nothing all day and then consume 3000 calories at dinner!  Makes it difficult for me when I'm trying to do the cooking and incorporate some healthier choices but all he wants is meat and potatoes. Or when he snacks later in the evening and I have no calories left. Struggle indeed!

I always do breakfast because they say it gets your system working first thing.  Not sure if that's true or not but I'll go with it. :)  I agree . . . it takes me about 6 weeks to figure out a good schedule.  I'll try to do 1200 calories for that time period but it's hard!  Once I incorporate some exercise I can go up to 1700 and be more comfortable.  So we both have about 4 pounds to hit our goals by 1/30 weigh in.  We can do it!!  Have a great week!

Funny?  Like funny haha? :P

I'm not sure I'll be able to take classes regularly . . . a little expensive for me.  But, if I like it, there might be some DVD's available that I can do in bad or cold weather. :)

I've done CC before too and did great with it.  In 2009 I lost a lot but have gained over the last 5 years.  I like weighing on Friday because, if I'm going to screw up, it's usually on the weekend and then I have 5 days to make it right. :)  I actually started the day after Christmas so I'll back track a little.  I'll be 47 in February and I'm 5'3".  Shooting for 160 for now, then we'll see.

12/26/14 - 212

1/2/15 - 209 (-3) 3 down, 49 to go

1/9/15 - 207 (-2) 5 down, 47 to go ... Ups and downs this week.  Some days I didn't eat enough, others I ate too much.  Trying to find that balance.  Packing lunches is a struggle for me for some reason but I'll work on that next week.  Trying out a yoga class on Monday night with a couple friends.  I'm ready for winter to end so I can get outside.  Work is a nightmare lately . . . everyone is quitting.  : /  *stress*

1/16/15 - 204 (-3) 8 down, 44 to go ... I felt like I had a rock solid week.  I stuck to my calories, tried something new (yoga) and I got my reward!  Feeling really good about the loss.  I decided to get a soda and go to McDonalds for breakfast.  Amazingly enough, I was so dang full I almost felt sick!  And the pop was soooo sugary it made my teeth hurt!  Next week will be my one month mark so I will post my original measurements and what they are now.  Hopefully there are some losses there as well.  I really want to get to 199 by the end of the month so I'm going to commit to doing an aerobics DVD at least twice next week to ensure some deficits.  What's your goal for next week?  For this month?

1/23/15 - 202 (-2) 10 down, 42 to go ... I guess I can't complain considering the amount of effort that went in this week.  I logged but didn't eat right and didn't exercise.  Hopefully next week I won't be coughing and I'll have more energy and focus.

I'm making an executive decision to skip my weigh in this week.  Just too much going on to even think about counting.

I don't really see where the stress is going to let up soon so I better figure out a way to fit in time for me AND do everything else.

*sigh*

Wow Agi!  You go girl!

Nice to see a few new joiners this week!

After catching up on the posts this week I see some discussion about the importance of drinking your water every day.  I can't agree more and I'm working very hard to kick my Mountain Dew habit.  I'm down to one can a day . . . a little caffeine to jump start me in the morning . . . but I'd like to get rid of that too!

My personal goal for the week will be to get those 8 glasses of water in every day.  I'm not sure if I can let go of my one can yet . . . but that will be a goal eventually.  What is everyone else shooting for this week?

Question of the week - how long does it take to break a habit and how long does it take to form one?

My new grand daughter decided to make her appearance at 2:12 am on Saturday morning.  It's been a busy weekend!

My personal goal for this week will merely be not to gain.  I know things will be crazy around here for a week or 2 while everyone settles into the new schedule so I'm not going to dedicate time I won't have or set goals I can't attain.  I'm not sure I'll even get time to pack lunches let alone walk or bike.  I'll do my best though.

How is everyone doing and what are your goals for the week?

Well . . . I didn't eat right all week and I didn't exercise either.  Zero appetite and zero energy due to some stomach bug.  Pretty sure I'll have a better than expected loss . . . the only good thing about being sick.:P

Hope everyone's week was awesome!

I normally don't comment on anything since I have found what works for me and I suppose that's all that matters.  I'd like to help people understand the site, but as stated earlier . . . they have the option to ignore me, which is common.  I do agree that the tools aren't clear about how to calculate what you should be eating.  It has always told me to eat 1200 calories.  (which I stuck to for maybe 3 days :P)  It took me a while to find the burn meter . . . that should really be the first tool you're directed to when you come to this site and it should include some examples about how to calculate a deficit with and without exercise.  I think it should also recommend that you recalculate every 10-15 pounds.  I think there would be less whining and more success stories that way.

Just my humble opinion. :)

Welcome to the group Ywatt88!

I started out at 235 my first time around and got down to 160 from April to September before everything took a nose dive.  Having had that experience I have learned that we can't always be on top of everything.  We can't always plan and eat right.  We all know this isn't a sprint, it's a marathon because it's something we'll do for the rest of our lives.  Sometimes that seems so daunting to me . . . I just can't imagine having to do this for the rest of my life.  But then again, it may be less daunting to be 7 lbs up from 145 than it is to be 60 lbs up.  I suppose it's all in the point of view you choose to take.

Anyway, I'm excited to have lots of like minded people here to help keep me on track! :)

Welcome to the group lupacoyne! :)

According to this site I should be between 124 and 145.  I'll be shooting for the high end too.  I can't even imagine myself at 124!

Monday has been ok.  I stayed in range by 2 calories after biking 15 minutes . . . that's the best I could do today.  Yep, sho is Monday! :P

Well, I didn't do too awesome with the calories this weekend.  Lunch out with my hub on Friday got me an easy 2000.  Yesterday it rained so I couldn't get out but I had that mini blizzard anyway.  The only thing that saved me was that I got up so late that breakfast was over. :P  I didn't do too bad today at 1650 or so . . . biking for 40 minutes and working on my car for 2 hours kept me in range.  Back to work tomorrow where I'll be in training with a new person all week.  I keep saying I don't have the patience level for training but they seem to think I do a good job with it.  Perhaps I should swear more. :)  I took next Friday off so I'll have a 4 day weekend for labor day.  Just starting to plan some things.  I'd like to get my windows done for fall and I think I'd like to go to the state fair and poke around a bit.  Maybe have my mom over for dinner one day.  My daughters due date is Sept. 2 so we're expecting Ms Vivianne to make her debut any day now.  We're pretty much ready and waiting.  I know my daughter is completely uncomfortable and her toes look like chubby little sausages.

Have my weekly menu planned and hoping to get that 500 calorie deficit every day.

:)

Here's my goal for the week.  Join me if you like or tell us what your goal is for the week. :)

Go to the Burn Meter Caluculator under the Tools Menu and determine your calorie burn at a sedentary setting.  This is roughly what your body burns just sitting still.  A 500 calorie deficit will provide a .5 to 2 lb loss per week.  (In my experience.)  Consuming more calories will produce a gain unless you are able to maintain the deficit with exercise.

Example:

I burn 1830 calories sitting still according to the Burn Meter.  My calorie intake for a day should be 1330 to maintain a 500 calorie deficit and lose weight.  But . . . I had a large helping of spaghetti for dinner bringing my calorie intake to 1600.  I then go for a half hour bike ride burning 350 calories bringing my total to 1250 which is in my calorie range.

Goal for the week:  STAY IN CALORIE RANGE BY MAINTAINING A 500+ CALORIE DEFICIT.

Hope everyone has an awesome week! :)

Hi,

My name is Angie.  I'm 44, married 22 years and the grandmother of 2.  I visited CC in 2009 and had awesome success.  Then life got stressful and I put it back on again.  Now I'm back to try again and hopefully change my habits and it keep it off this time.

I hope there are some people out there who will join me in this never ending battle!

Hi shehuntszombies!

Glad you decided to join . . . just in time for our first "official" weigh in tomorrow.

I'm planning to start throwing out some challenges weekly for whoever wants to participate.  Sometimes I find that having to "report back" helps me stay on the straight and narrow too!

For everyone . . . please feel free to post during the week about anything you wish.  Weight loss is only a small part of our lives and dependent on so many other things.  If you're having a bad day, let's hear it.  If you've had an epiphany, share your insight.  If everything is going great . . . shout it out!! :)

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
