Weight Loss Slow Metabolism or am I doing something wrong? Jul 09 2009

I became self employed last February so we are running a home business full time which affords of a lifestyle in which we have horses.

The horses are my life and I spend alot of time with them and thus alot of activity and I guess I could mix it up a bit with some cardio.

I have been going through this since I embarked on the weight loss again which has been about 2 months.  I lost 2 pounds per day doing a cleanse and then started back on whole foods.

I suspect my metabolism is messed up and I guess patience is a virtue.

Everything is weighed/measured and logged diligently, I keep a kitchen scale on the counter at all times.  I have no idea what is going on.  When I did this before I easily lost 2 pounds per week on 1600 calories.

Thank you so much for explaining and that makes perfect sense.  If I eat more I don't lose and at this rate I am losing about 1 pound per week.  I guess I have a very slow metabolism and then again I have lost 170 pounds but gained back 80 and perhaps the yo yo'ing is what is causing the slowing?

I am not usually hungry but I do burn alot of calories between working horses, cleaning stalls/barn and gardening each and every day *sigh*.

You  need to read the help above and pick yourself up and get checked into rehab.  You know what you need to do, just do it rather than feeling sorry for yourself.

Thank you Team-Malone and what I need to do different is to stay focused and not allow stress to change my habits.

I have also learned that the moment I deviate it is over and I have to retain enough self control that a small treat is ok but nothing more than that.

I will persevere!

Still hanging out at 177 but I have switched up the content of my foods and am eating only whole foods again so this should help.  I tried South Beach and actually gained so that is out of the picture now.  *argh!*

Hi everyone!

Well, I joined the bandwagon as of this morning.  I have the shopping done and am armed with a membership to the SBD site and the book.

I am 44yo and a Mom to a 25yo Son and 5 and 7yo Daughters and a Grandma to a Grandson with another one on the way and just learned it is a girl!

I have lost 170 pounds on my journey and weighed in at my highest weight of 348 pounds and now down to 178.  I have been stuck here so hoping this will be the key by mixing things up a bit.  I tend to be rather high carbed with a load of veggies and fruits as staples in my diet.  This should be interesting.....

One thing that you need to remember is that there is so much more out there than just the fruits and veggies which are important but don't forget the nuts, seeds, beans and legumes.  All of the above work together to provide a balanced diet.

WholeFood/Raw Food Consumption is about health and your weight will fall into where it should be.  The focus is eating healthy and not filling our bodies with calorie/salt/chemical laden foods.

When I started this 7 years ago at 348 pounds it was hard, very hard but I have remained 95% Whole/Raw food for the duration and my Doc has numbers to prove the health factors in lower cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure and many other factors as well.  I am now 178 and have about 20 more pounds to go but I am not focusing on that, I eat to live and not live to eat and the weight is naturally falling off.

Good luck!

I generally have a homemade Granola for breakfast and lots of fruits and veggies.  Very little meat and I usually stick around 3 ounces of chicken if I do have any.  I get my protein from beans which I have at least a cup a day.

I usually don't eat anything processed BUT I do make exceptions like yesterday for my Husband'd Birthday and I had a very small piece of cake.  It didn't taste at all good and that is the one thing that I have found is that I am so sensitive taste wise to sugar and fat that they just take yucky to me now.

I started out at 348 pounds and am now down to 178.

I have lost 171 pounds with a raw food diet and in my opinion is the best way to lose weight!
Weight Loss Is anyone successfully losing while eating lean cuisine/smartones for lunch? Jul 26 2007

I have lost 171 pounds and lost about half of it using products like these.  Then the day came where I just got stuck and stayed at the same weight for almost two years and was eating around 1500 calories a day.

I then became more educated on whole foods and how they affect my body.  I embarked on that plan in January and have lost 55 pounds since then.  Not stuck any more and 19 pounds to goal!

Try the exercise mix up but also consider leaving the frozen foods behind.  I guarantee that you will start to lose again if you eat whole foods.  It is also not hard to consume them for lunch.  I pack my lunch in the morning within 5 minutes and even less time to prepare my lunch at Noon.

Good luck!

Starbucks Menu To Include Calorie Counts
Californians and New Yorkers may take calorie counts for granted. While they've faced calories on menu boards for years, most of the rest of the nation has remained in the dark. Now Starbucks is shining a spotlight on their menu.
