Thanks :) I went to the doc and he gave me a blood test requisition form... I have yet to go because I am DEATHLY afraid of needles... Not like "Oh, ouch, im scared of the pin prick" type afraid, more like those people who have irrational fears of, say birds, and they show up on a talk show hosts couch and all of a sudden someone with a peregrine falcon enters stage left and total pandemonium ensues.

OK, so at 117-120, you were hovering between being just underweight to just barely at a healthy weight.  At you're current weight, you at a very healthy BMI of 20.  Have you noticed your clothes getting at all tighter?  If not, you're still at an age when your bones are getting denser, so it's very possible that the weight you've been putting on is bone mass, which is a very good thing.  So, don't worry about the number, and if you don't feel your clothes getting tighter, stay off the scale.

Oh yes, its not the increase in weight that is the main concern... It is the velocity at which it increased. And my clothes (unfortunately) have been feeling tighter... Also, my lower legs and feet seem very very swollen. To the point where it is difficult to wear any footwear other than flip flops

Thank you very much. Those are the same conditions I weight myself under.. and then again in the afternoon, and normally I have lost a couple pounds by that time (odd), but by the morning they have returned (with friends!!)

Do you have any idea what might cause such a drastic weight gain over a few days?? My diet and exercise regime has remained identical to before the change...

You should switch up 1-2 cardio sessions for HIIT style cardio. I walk on a treadmill as 4.5 mph for 2 minutes, followed by a 1 minute run at 10.2 mph.. Repeat for 30-60 minutes. That is some pretty hardcore HIIT, you might start with 30 second sprint intervals at a running pace that you feel is pushing yourself. It promotes, among other things, growth horomone and testosterone, both of which are powerful weapons in the war of fat loss AND muscle gain. Good luck and hang in there.
