| Fitness | 5k on the elliptical and running a 5k...how do they compare? | Oct 12 2011 03:32 (UTC) |

They don't compare at all! I've been commited to my dear elliptical for over ayear and will do up to an hour on it, but when it comes to running...whole different story. I've recently started picking running back up and honestly.... once I pass 1 mile I start wanting to quit. It's more impact and work on your legs. You can go a decent speed on the elliptical but odds are that if you aren't regularly running, you won't be very fast when you hit the ground and start running instead. |

If she had also been wanting to lose weight and for her daughters too, maybe it was jealousy? Having to see you and your success in losing weight while she hasn't lost any. |

I have to agree with jessicam84... This isn't very healthy and might just make others feel negative about their own weight in comparison. |

Why can't you do them both. My routine consists of weights and then cardio.. It burns calories throughout the day but not as much as getting your cardio would I believe. You've also got to burn the fat off before you'll see much results as far as tone goes. |

So am I to take it that you are choosing to be an ignorant ****? Why the heck would you post this in a support and health forum? What a horrible person to bring such hate and ignorance here where people are working to get their lives back on track. Don't post about something you don't know about. Your words certainly are not going to help anyone here and if anything, could just make things worse. It's disrespectful, and very destructive.... You obviously have issues of your own and are dealing with them by lashing out at others... |

I've been having the same problem for the past month. I'll stop for a few days and start again. It's been really heavy each time so I'm worried about all the blood I'm losing. I hope you find your answer. I'm currently switching between insurance so I'm not covered for a doctor's visit yet. Really hoping I can get it checked soon. I've been on the same birth control for about a year without any problems, so I can't see it being from that. |

Your not selfish for wanting whats best for your mother, but you can't make someone work to lose weight if they don't want or are not up for it. I've been trying to help my dad with his eating habits but its just not going to happen if he doesn't really want it. It's very good that you care for her so much. Maybe she will come around. Just keep trying but don't push it on her or make her feel bad about it because that won't help at all. |

| Foods | Do you count all the calories in a salad? | Nov 16 2010 02:06 (UTC) |

I never count the stuff like lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.. I might just figure around 50 calories for it all. It's not going to make much of a difference. I just add up the calories of the additional stuff like dressing, and other toppings. |

I just had a bowl of frozen strawberries topped with a sugar free dark chocolate pudding cup I had sitting in the freezer for a couple hours. :) So good. Of course i'm sure fresh strawberries would be just as delicious. |

As long as it fits in your calories for the day. :) I love cliff and luna bars as well. They can be pretty high in calories for a snack (mostly just cliff) but I'll eat half before a workout and the rest later or eat a cliff bar for breakfast. |

I don't see anything wrong with it so long as they are given the freedom to eat meat if they choose to outside the home. I don't think any parent should force a certain type of eating on any child. It's just important to show them the importance of healthy eating. :) Like letting them get meat if they would prefer when going out to eat as a family as well... |

My boyfriend has been away for the Guard over a year. I've made cookies to send to him as well as chocolate chip peanutbutter blondies (which he loves).. Maybe make him something he likes? Just the time you put into it will mean a lot to him. I worked to make the cookies from scratch and altered a blondie recipe and it turned out really good. Or a little package with his favorite candies and some small stuff? My VDay gift for Mine was a package like that with an engraved zippo. |
