That's true, I lost over 100lbs in like 5 months and that was just using a treadmill for 60 to 90 mins  a day and some dumb bells at night with situps, push ups, etc,. Obviously completely changed my diet and portion sizes but I lost about 38% of my body weight in 6 months which is about what they do it in, I just started at 285 and not 385. Oh well.

Relax Cellu...The OP just asked a simple question. CC is a place for support.

Okies =]

Congrats on becoming a Volunteer Mod!!!

To the OP, I wouldn't worry too much... you look hot and i'm sure you're guy is happy as you should be as well. That said you can't spot reduce and running helps because it's great at burning fat so your love handles will eventually go. The key would be to strengthen your abs with muscle underneath with reverse crunches or crunches where you move your right elbow to your left knee and reverse that for the other elbow. Then eat a good diet with cardio to lose the fat on top. I've lost a ton of weight so far (almost 110lbs) but my love handles look like they will be last to go. You'll be ok, you are on the right track.

I've lost over 105lbs and did it while switching to 5 to 6 meals a day. Typical day for me would be...

4:30 wake up

4:45 to 6:15 cardio

7am Breakfast

9:30 snack

12pm Lunch

3pm snack

6pm dinner

8pm a snack sometimes, usually small.

No need for me to get out the straightener, but there are many things that can affect a one time weight, sodium and water intake, stool retention, TOM

BTW Ralphie May was on Celebrity Fit Club, not Biggest Loser.

Good call, I couldn't remember what show he was on but those two shows are not created equal, lol...

I haven't taken measurements, I will try that.  I have noticed that jeans I had back when I was a size 6 are fitting again so that is good.  I'm definately eating enough, and then some (with the holidays --- so many snacks around the office).  I'm 5ft 1inches so I'm hoping to get down to 120.  thanks for the advice and hopefully the scale will show results soon too :)

What if the scales don't? For me anyways I started at 285 and am at 178 now about 6 months later. I am pretty much where I want to be now, but if I stopped losing weight at 210 but looked like a professional football player I would have no complaints. Point being that if you are getting in shape and gaining muscle and shedding fat the scale may not change much even though you're healthier and smaller and fitting in all the clothes and sizes you think you should. It's part of why I hate the BMI as a measuring stick and why the scale is over-rated for determing health.

Good luck, don't over look how your clothes fit because the scale didn't drop. One of the guys I look up to is Dr. OZ and he is all about waist size and not the scale to determine health. It's a more informative measurement then just plain weight in my opinion.

Yep im so childish :) thank you. and yep im sooo sad and soo predicatble..

you know whats sad and predictable...that you always have to give some type of mean opinion on peoples posts...CC is a place for support.. S-U-P-P-O-R-T. so if you have nothing nice to say then dont say anything at all.

as for the OP...It takes 3500 calories to gain weight darling. Eating more calories then you burn will lead to weight gain so dont worry about the candy bar. Just eat healthy throughout the day :)

I'm glad we agree on something. And you can give support the way you want and support people's ED or tell them whatever you want and call it support. But everything I said was help, and I could care less if some self absorbed know it all wanna be model teenager agrees with it how I say it or not. Plenty of people appreciate some frank answers and opinions and there is a place for that. Sorry if I don't support people detoxing or starvation diets and so on but it's unhealthy. What I said if you read it at all wasn't mean in any way shape or form.

******************And you didn't gain all the weight by eating one candy bar right? Why freak out for eating just one? You don't lose weight by cutting out 1 candy bar, you don't gain it either. And what's done is done, do good the rest of the day and move on. Dwelling about it is only going to hurt your attitude and moral. And the extra stress you're giving yourself will do more to gain weight then the 630 calories.*************

There is what I said, so you know...

EDIT: And now I am being slightly mean, because I don't appreciate the baiting and BS because you dont' agree with what I say. I heard some good advice recently, "so if you have nothing nice to say then dont say anything at all". Your post to me wasn't needed and has derailed this thread.

other then to bait me and be childish what did you just add to the conversation? How did you help the OP? What do you ever add to a conversation or topic? Chelseagirl will probably be here too to pile on and that's fine, it's typical, sad and predictable.

None of your baiting and thread jacking changes the fact that I did give good solid advice about dealing with what she did and how she can deal with it. Let's wait to see if she even has a problem with my post shall we???

My wife showed it to me and asked the same question. She isn't terribly pretty to me but she has a great body still and me personally you can't be natural breasts and a natural curvy body. Also glad she is speaking out, good for her.

Ummm, how about you chill. Just because I didn't talk to them like I do my 3 year old like you did doesn't mean I was being cold. What is wrong with what I said here?

That is going to make her feel worse? It was cold? I need to chill? Please... and I asked for clarification before going off on her ridiculous assertion that we should ban high calorie candy bars.

Weight Loss On weighing myself daily... Dec 14 2007

I have read similar reports from other studies that show weighing daily is a good thing and those that do are more likely to keep the weight off as they will spot trends and notice increases sooner and can adjust accordingly.

That means though not freaking out (and posting here in all caps) because you are up 2 lbs in a day because at that stage you have lost the weight already and should know it's not fat but just daily fluctuations.

I weight myself when I wake up after going to the bathroom, after my morning workout and sometimes before bed. But I don't freak out and just use it as a tool only.

I know i'm not weighing but Wednesday might be a good day because anyone who is building in cheat meals (I recommend doing that btw) and do it on the weekend will have a few days to get the sodium and water out of their body on Mon and Tue.

Good luck you guys, you can PM me with questions or post them here as they probably apply to others as well. I'll always be poking my head in here and offering tips or letting you know what I did if you guys don't mind?

Weight Loss How much is too much fruit??? Dec 14 2007

What? It is a moot point. lol... and ya, i'm being an ass. I'm entitled for the crap you gave me for no good reason and your posts to me.

You were way out of line and I produced facts that back up my point which is fruit is good for you, it's damn near impossible to have too much and that you were off base. I would rather people on this site walk away from this thread reading about all the benefits and advantages of eating a diet high in fruit then scared because someone said their GI value was high when in most cases it isn't or the sugar is scary.

And thanks, for whatever you meant about being too literal. I'm guessing it was a compliment.

nobody said the GI of a doughnut was better than fruit. i said if you compare the macronutrients of a doughnut and a fruit that the macronutrients in a doughnut are better than that of a fruit. I admit i was being cocky in my last posts because archer pissed me off a bit so im sorry if i offended any fruit lovers out there..... i suppose we are all arguing a mute point as there are millions of differant ways to diet out there and being an arrogant ass i assumed my diet was superior. For those of us that have a hard time metabolizing simple sugars, yes, more than 4 servings of fruit per day is too much. For those of us that dont, I suppose there is not a limit to your fruit consumption. I hope this clears any misunderstandings up to any trying to receive useful information from this thred.

It's a moot point not a mute point. Maybe you should do a little research next time when using words like that you aren't familiar with? Sound familiar?

Did you read those articles on fruits and sugars that I posted? But thanks for blaming your behavior on me... lol

Weight Loss the pizza is calling me Dec 14 2007

I know how you feel... they catered my favorite Pizza today at lunch and it was DEFINATELY calling my name... *sigh* God it sucks trying to eat good. I've lost over 105 lbs and I still can't just let myself go at any time. I didn't prepare for a cheat meal, I didn't adjust for it and know it was coming so I had my Kashi Go Lean Almond Crunch mixed with some Weight Watchers Vanilla Yogurt and afterwards had a South Beach Peanut Butter Delights bar with a Pro Biotics Naked Juice. It was hard, but afterwards watching everyone crash and complain about their stomachs and feeling bloated and stuffed and so on I suddenly felt pretty good about my choice.

That's how I choose to view it anyways. ;-)

Most fruits have enough fiber in them to slow the introduction of the fructose into the blood stream so they are definitely better for you than doughnuts or other such things made from sucrose and refined flour.

Truth be told, I've never seen a fat person who got fat just from eating fruit.

My husband used to work for a medical device company who's largest market was diabetics. One woman he spoke to said that that's exactly how (eating fruit all day every day) she became a diabetic. I'm not sure if she was fat, but not all diabetics are fat.

How did she know that? And why does no doctor or nutrionist or even the federal government warn us about eating too much? I doubt her claim very much.

This will probably be my last post here but this is straight from WebMD as a special from MensHealth. I think we all would agree those are two fantastic and respected resources approved and endorsed by multiple experts.

Here is a link to the article on sugar...

http://men.webmd.com/features/sugar-what-kind s-eat-when

Choose Unrefined Sugars

Unrefined sugars are found in fruits, some vegetables and other whole foods and should make up the bulk of the carbs you eat every day. Fruits and vegetables still have fiber, water and vitamins, so it's nearly impossible to eat too many of them. For example, the average man would have to eat about 50 oranges or 24 pounds of cabbage per day just to maintain his weight.
