Thanks guys ^^ I know that I'm already at a healthy weight, but I carry my weight very badly, which is why I think I could stand to lose a bit more. Also, I don't think I'm growing anymore, I haven't grown at all for at least a year now (not just height). |

Ever since I started cutting down on unhealthy foods, I've found that I enjoy fruit alot more. I especially love apples and cherries since they're so sweet, and they're relatively low calorie ^^ |

True, I was on CC for about a month before my first big cheat day. I went to a friend's party and ate alot (not quite a binge) of junk foods and I felt so sick. I use to be able to eat alot more than what I ate then and still not feel sick. |

I guess I know how you feel. I can never wear nice singlets and dresses like alot of the other girls I know, because I have these HORRIBLE arms. I'm not actually overweight (as of a few weeks ago), but my arms look like they're from someone about 20lbs heavier than me, and I can't stand them. I have to cover up my arms or else I look ridiculous and out of proportion (Since my waist and legs aren't that terrible), and even on really really hot days, I can't wear singlets or sometimes even t-shirts. Last year, and probably the year before too (I was 12-13, so about your age), I was a bit overweight and has serious body image problems, and I refused to leave the house wearing anything less than long sleeves and long pants, usually fairly dark colours like you. It drove my parents mad. I also had terrible posture Eg. Always looking down when walking (*cough*emo*cough*) and sometimes hunching over a bit, which didn't help. I find that for me, even losing a little bit of weight makes me think better of myself. I've only lost about 5lbs so far, so no noticable change yet, but I feel much more confident and and I don't think 'OMG I look terrible', everytime I look in the mirror, even though what I see is pretty much the same. I also feel better wearing more colourful and fashionable clothes. I know people who are on the heavier side who smile alot, love who they are, and always look great, so it's not impossible to look nice just because you're a bit heavier! Just be confident |

I know how you feel, I really really really want to be as thin as those asian celebrities (Almost all of them are underweight), but I've settled for 'slim'. For motivation, I think of how great I'll look once I lose all that extra weight But remember, it's not worth getting sick just to be thin so whatever you do, don't get an eating disorder, it really isn't worth it. |

Since you're only 14 (same as me) you shouldn't eat less than 1500 a day or it will affect your growth (or something like that). Maybe try doing more exercise rather than eating less? How fast are you trying to lose weight? I'm about the same weight as you and a bit shorter and I can lose almost 1lb a week on 1600 with about 45mins-1hr exercise a day |

I totally agree! There are girls at my school who are quite heavy and like to wear tight clothes that are obviously too small for them, which makes them look even heavier. My friend who is also somewhat heavy, always wears properly fitted clothes that and she always looks great! |

@elrepo 105lbs is my dream goal weight, my actual goal weight is 113lbs, so a BMI of 20, I must have forgotten to change my bio when I decided that 105 was a bittoo low @gi-jane You're probably right I guess... But the disordered eathing thing only happened a few times, and I'm pretty sure it's never gonna happen again. I'm more active now than I used to be, I used to do less than 30 mins a day, and now I'm active at least 30mins, usually more. One problem, since I've started exercising more, if I sit/lie down for a long time and then get up, I sometimes pull a muscle in my leg, and it hurts ALOT! 3 times already in the last month, and it takes about 3-4 days to get better. While the muscle hurts, exercise is really painful. Is there any way to make it better faster? The last time was earlier this week and it still hurts... |

I've tried to explain this to them already but it always ends up with them saying "You don't need to lose weight! Come on, have some ice cream!" |

I agree SO MUCH!!! I love K-pop, J-pop and all that stuff, but I never watch the MVs, especially of SNSD. Why? Because it depresses me watching all those thin, pretty girls dancing. Last year, I was really obsessed with an asian drama, and in an interview or something, an actress from the show who was at least 5'4 and at most 115lbs called herself fat(If I heard correctly). What is wrong with these people?!?!?!? Not only the girls, but the guys too. So many of the guys from bands like Super Junior (<3) or DBSK and very tall and SUPER skinny (But so good looking!!! |

| Weight Loss | The "myth" that Asian girls are naturally slim | Nov 19 2009 06:16 (UTC) |

I agree, asian girls are pressured to be thin. At my normal school, almost everyone is a normal weight, with a few over or under. At my chinese school, there are barely any overweight people, and many many underweight ones. I'd say that it's a myth though, I'm asian, 5'3 and currently just over 128lbs, not exactly thin, and before I started dieting I was about 133lbs. My thin asian friends often struggle to not overeat, so it's obvious that they aren't 'naturally thin'. Very few of my asian friends who eat normally are thinner than the average non-asian. Also, this year when I went to China, a few of my friends and relatives said that they thought I was a bit chubby, but they said it in a nice way, except for one of my dad's friends who was a bit rude about it. Whereas here, I've never been been called overweight in my life. |

At 5'3, going under 105lbs is generally underweight, even though it's alright for some people. I'm just a bit over 5'3 and my goal weight is 113lbs(51kg), dream weight 105lbs(48kg). |

Thanks everyone! I'm actually trying to lose another 24lbs to get to my dream weight (BMI 18.5), but I'll be happy with another 15 or so to have a BMI of about 20 since 18.5 sounds a bit too skinny. |

On sedentary I only need 1870, and on weekends I only exercise a bit, so about 1950 maximum, and on other days about 2000. Occasionally, I burn 2100+, and on those days I eat about 1600-1700, so 400-500 deficit. Not alot. |

I generally only burn about 1900-2000, so I'm not staving myself. Also, I'm teenaged and asian with a small frame, so before I started dieting, and even now, I'm at risk of being overweight. |
