Thanks Emily, I read the Web MD and just the possibility of loss of bone density is enough for me. That is all too a prominent condition with people my age and I think I will skip the extra vinegar! I do use balsamic vinegar for salad dressing and will continue. |

ALWAYS EAT SOMETHING WHEN YOU ARE RAVENOUS! Just eat the right kind of food and give yourself a few minutes to react to what you eat before you eat everything in sight! It usually works for me. Occasionally I head back to the pantry too soon and have to say "wait a few minutes" and usually the ravenous feeling goes away after a reasonable snack, which I count in my calories for the day. |

Bravo for honesty! Sometimes we fool ourselves that there is some exotic reason we don't lose weight, and once in a while there is! But for most of us...........WE JUST EAT TOO MUCH. Nice to hear an upfront comment about eating! |

It has helped me lose weight. I use it regularly in cereal, coffee, and iced tea. I think the talk about it is as misplaced as the mouse experiment with saccharin years ago was ill conceived! |

Thanks Jane, but I think I will stay away from those chips..............on the other hand there is the package of vinegar and salt chips that I really like! The salt would probably really fix me up! |

Original Post by praj_utgikar: I believe this is the strangest weight loss thing I have ever heard.........and I read a lot. Just how hot is this water? I am sorry but this is just too bizarre to accept. Try pouring a cup of hot water over a piece of meat fat, even have it boiling and see what happens...........nothing! I don't mean to be too harsh but folks we need to stick to something that is logical and melting our fat just doesn't cut it! Can you imagine what the temperature of a cup of hot water is by the time it gets to your stomach, where the fat isn't by the way! That hot water will never touch your fat and wouldn't help if it did. WOW that concept really knocked me for a loop. Sorry! |

CC recommends 1200 cals for me also. I started out at 1500 and as I have lost weight it has come down. I have a whole grain cereal for breakfast, usually 1/3 cup oatmeal (before cooking!) 1 tbsp walnuts, 1 tbsp raisins, 1 tblsp wheatgerm. That really seems to last. Snack is 2 whole wheat ritz with 1 tsp peanut butter, lunch bowl of vegetable soup or half sandwich, snack 1/3 cup shredded wheat with 1/3 cup no fat milk, dinner flounder filet, broccoli, tossed salad with balsamic vinegar dressing. I usually have a 50 calorie desert at lunch and dinner. I have whole wheat pasta with marinara sauce, grilled chicken, a 3oz steak, it goes on and on. I don't eat after dinner. I can't tell you I am never hungry but I can tell you that I am beginning to feel very full after eating a cup of soup, and a whole sandwich is beginning to feel like too much. Sit down and figure your food out so that you know what is coming and eat what you plan, it doesn't work to starve. I have lost 29 pounds since the end of August and have about 13 to go to finally not be overweight, not perfect but not overweight. The bottome line of this rant is it is doable and you will get used to it if you give it a try. Stick in there, it is worth it. Good luck! |

Grandmother here but for what it is worth...........your picture is great, not fat! Enjoy life and stay away from the scales. You are a good looking young woman don't give yourself a hard time! We women have been somewhat programed to not like our bodies, let's get over it and enjoy what God gave us.........especially when it looks as good as yours does. They win when we put ourselves down...........God bless. |

Get on those scales once a day if you want.............but stay away from them the rest of the day and night! It just messes up your mind and is really not significant to the overall picture. I have finally overcome the scale addiction but still weigh every morning, same time, same place. |

Finally a real compensation for age! I have lived a healthy, happy life and physically the only problems I have had were 2 cataracts (wonderfully taken care of by easy surgery) and a weight problem that cropped up during the last 20 years (being taken care of by counting calories successfully). So upon reaching this esteemed age, I will choose to eat anything I like, counting those calories but not passing up anything I want. And honestly wish I had reached this conclusion 20 years ago. I believe it is mostly how much you eat that makes most of us fat. By the way be leery of those "mouse tests". They said the same thing about saccharin, then fessed up that they gave them many times the usual amount. Not exactly a fair test of a product. Water can be toxic if you drink too much at one time. |

As I understand it the trend line shows the direction you are going and discounts any large losses or gains which are probably not true losses or gains. As long as the trend line continues down, you are doing okay, if it heads up you might want to think about your intake and output! |

I always am intrigued by how we see ourselves! I occasionally see someone and think "am I fatter than she is, not as fat as she is?". I have lost 29 lbs. in the laslt 5 months and would you believe only two friends have noticed. One to say "don't lose too much it makes you wrinkled at our age". The other was complimentary but it makes me wonder! I weighed 182 and now weigh 153 at 5'3" so I am still "overweight" according to the pros. But having said that I feel good and like the way I look...........especially compared to the way I did look! Self-image is such a personal thing. I sometimes think I see myself at one end of the spectrum or the other and that I am really somewhere in between! |

Everyday and trying to control the urge to get on the scale in the middle of the night! I am determined not to regain this weight and when it goes up, even knowing it is a salt/water fluke, I am more diligent to count calories and exercise that day. |

Not to get to psychological with this but I sometimes think when I ask questions like that I already know the answer. Putting someone else in the position to answer seems to take some of the responsibility away from me. I have finally accepted the fact that my weight gain and loss has nothing to do with anyone else except me. I am losing the weight for me and my health. Being in control is a great thing! I am at that lovely stage of liking my baggy jeans! Don't be depressed.........get moving and get rid of the part of you that is holding you back! |
