Recipes coconut milk------now what do I do with it? Nov 08 2007

When I lived in Florida for the summer for an internship, people there make white rice with coconut milk instead of water - delicious!  You could probably use brown rice to make it healthier.
That's my 2 cents!

Wow, even after rereading the whole book, I still didn't catch that the Gryffindor sword was pulled from the hat, I'm so blonde sometimes!  Griphook must have been pissed!  I'm glad Nevilled killed Nagini, that was perfect for his character!
If Malfoy wasn't going to be a Death Eater, he should have done something decent, I agree, tigerlily.  I didn't even realize he was "good" until the epilogue.

See, I was thinking that Draco got the reprieve, because I thought I'd read that she had to tweak the Epilogue...though Hagrid is mentioned there, too, so I guess that could work either way.  I definitely thought Hagrid was dead (as did Harry) when he was dragged off by the spiders (shiver).
I had also thought Lupin and Tonks were the two extra to die - to me, it seemed kind of random that they did, unless it was just to make Harry feel worse about those who were dying for him, to kind of force him to face his own death to save his friends...  I hope someone asks Jo sometime soon and that she tells us!

Oh, I was DEFINITELY glad to be at home reading on my bed when I got to the last however many chapters...  I was reading on the Leaky Cauldron's lounge about different anwers people have to some of those questions, and some are saying that Merope's use of magic late in life was it?  I mean, that was book 6, but if she was a squib and then learned magic after her dad and brother were gone... maybe?

I finished reading it the first time on Saturday afternoon, and decided I'd read it too fast to pick up all the details, so I read it again and finished last night :-)  I still have NO IDEA who the "magic late in life" person was!  Dudley portraying his feelings might count, but I don't think so.
The Snape scenes at the end killed me - how he wanted to see Lily's eyes (through Harry) as he died, and just that no one truly knew him except Dumbledore, he had no friends, and both the Order and the Death Eaters were wrong about him.  Oh, and when Dumbledore says "After all this time?" and Snape replies "Always."...just broke my heart :-(  I've never cried so much for a book in my life (and I'm not even a crier), but I had to literally put the book down when Harry recognized that he had to die and was walking through the castle past Neville and Ginny without saying goodbye.  Thank God he didn't actually die - I think my love for the series might have died with him, and that's saying something, I'm a HUGE fan...
I'd like to know more about their lives and such in those missing 19 years, but I think that her leaving it open likes that allows for every reader to have Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny in whatever careers each of us thinks would be best for them.  I don't think Jo will write more in this series, except maybe backhistory or info like that - some have thought she'll carry on, writing about Albus Severus and his days at Hogwarts, but I don't think she'll do that.
Oh, what was with Harry saving Draco and Goyle?  I didn't even realize completely that that was what he did until I reread the book (that scene was very confusing to me).
Also, who do you think was the character who got the reprieve, and who do you think the two were who died that she hadn't originally planned?

I also buy the ground flaxseed, and put about a tablespoon on my cereal every morning (30 calories).  I also add it to anything I'm baking, and to turkey and salmon burgers.  I love the "nutty" taste it has!  I don't really know how to describe it, but my organic whole wheat o's taste so much better with it!  :-)
Fitness headaches aFTER WORKING OUT? Apr 21 2007

I also have a tendency to get headaches (migraines) after doing the elliptical, but I suffer from migraines anyway.  What I have found is that I need to drink a TON of water on the machine - I bring a liter bottle and drink almost the whole thing while at the gym.  I drink a bit before I start, and then every time I cross a 100 calories point (the machines here tell you how many calories you burn), I slow down enough to drink a good 20-25% of my bottle.  Gives me a bit of a breather for a minute or two and lets me keep hydrated.  I usually have class after I work out, so I'm constantly having to go to the bathroom, but on days when I don't (so, Saturday), I also drink another drink after working out with lunch or whatever.
Hope that helps a bit!
Fitness Ellipticals - friend or foe? Apr 06 2007

It took me a while to get used to the elliptical, too.  When I first tried it 2 years ago, it was totally kicking my @$$ for weeks, but I'd just go reallly slow on it.  It's definitely my favorite way to work out now though - I have supercrappy knees (yes, I'm only 22, but marching with an extra 60 pounds in the form of a sousaphone for 6 months will ruin your knees if you're genetically predisposed to have bad knees, apparently), and it doesn't hurt me at all!  Love it love it love it!
Hang in there, just ease into it, and you'll be in love with it, too!
Health & Support Anyone here get migraine headaches? Apr 05 2007

Ever since I can remember, like first and second grade, I've gotten migraines.  My mother gets them, my grandmother got them (until she had a hysterectomy), my great-grandmother got them...sucks.  During high school I was in marching band, and going inside to the a/c and outside to the 90 degrees+ and 98% Indiana summer humidity meant I was taking 8 Excedrin migraine pills a day (dosage: 2), but then I became addicted to the caffeine and was still taking 8 a day in October.  Took a different medication to get off of the caffeine, and no longer drink caffeine.  Once in college (landscape architecture is stressful and keeps me up all night fairly often), I've been getting migraines an average of 2-3 times PER WEEK.  I become supersensitive to light and noise, feel nauseous, the world kind of swims, and my entire head throbs with my pulse.  I had been taking two Excedrin migraines and taking a 2 hour nap in the dark silence to try to knock them, but 2-3 migraines a week sucks.  A lot.  So this past summer my doctor started me on Amitryptiline (sp?) to try to prevent them, with the added benefit that I could sleep better (I also haven't slept through the night in probably 5 or 6 years, unless I get 4 hours of sleep or less).  I took that for about 8 months at different doses trying to get rid of the migraines, and got it down to 1 a week, but that still isn't much fun.  So now I'm taking Inderal, which seems to be doing much better for me.  I'm now getting migraines about once every 2-3 weeks.  I take one Axert (for the migraine) and one Naproxen (my neurologist said it's basically prescription strength advil) and lay down for an hour or two in the dark, and so far that's been getting rid of them for me, instead of taking 4 Excedrin Migraines.  Axert is superexpensive, however - it's close to $400 for 24 pills before insurance - yikes!  And Inderal, as a medication to lower blood pressure, has dramatically lowered my blood pressure.  Last time I was in, my BP was 98/64, but I never had high blood pressure.  So my vision goes black and I get dizzy probably 2-3 times a day when I stand up too quickly, but that's not so bad :-)  I believe that, once my migraines are a little more under control, we're going to try to take me off of the Inderal and hopefully the migraines will be gone?
Ayeguy, I will say that when my doctor, who've I've been seeing for 10 years, told me to go see a neurologist, she told me to get a CAT scan to see if I had a brain tumor or something, as migraines can be symptoms of something else.  Mine, of course, weren't, as I've had them forever, but better safe than sorry.  Not that I want you to worry or anything!
Wow, sorry this turned into a book - migraines suck, and I know that, because their causes are so elusive, any tips from others help!  I've tried the journaling thing, and still have no idea what my triggers are, except that occasionally it's the weather.  But I know that works for some people!
Foods sweet potato super food!!!^_^ Mar 08 2007

Well, this is my first post, and I am here to say that I have recently discovered sweet potatoes and am absolutely in love with them!  I read Superfoods Rx, which I would highly recommend, and it has this amazing recipe in it for sweet potato fries!  Basically, you cut the sweet potato into 1/4" slices, spray with a little olive oil, and dust with salt, red pepper, paprika, and some other spice that gives it a kick (sorry, I'm at the library and can't remember), put them on a baking sheet and put them in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes, flip for another 15, and when they look done, they are.  My roommate and I eat them at least once a week with our turkey or salmon burgers (those recipes also in the book).
Basically the best thing ever, and it's so good for you!

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
