Yeah energy dense is high calories for small volumes like nuts, hummus, granola and stuff like that.

I'd have to totally disagree with bubbadunkin though. Fruit and vegetables contain valuable nutritious vitamins and minerals that we need and are essential to recovering your body that has been starved of these for so long. It is easier like innocenteyes says, to eat higher calorie ones to boost your intake and still get the vitamins from them though as vegetables like lettuce have little nutritional value. As long as you have them with carbs and protein then they will provide a balanced diet. So why not have the chicken, rice and veg bubbadunkin?!

Why not Eat Chicken, and Double the Rice? For Double the Calories. Im not implying "Sit down on your ass all day and eat twinkies" You still have to eat healthy but, I find no reason to eat veg/fruits. Your body was missing food. Food Has nutrition. Vitamins = Nutrition.

Im not trying to be mean, but im just saying. Why fill yourself up more? And If your going to, do it with something calorie dense.

People will tell you different things. In my personal opinon, anyone that is gaining weight should not eat vegtables/fruit until they reach atleast a 18.5 BMI. Thats my opinon. I say you should eat Chicken and Rice for dinner, not Chicken and fried vegtables.

And Energy Dense meaning Calorie Dense Im pretty sure.

OK just when I had started feeling better about all this! I had another weigh in yesterday and once again (fifth week i na row) another 4.5 pounds on -  my doctor said that he's concerned about just how consistently fast I'm gaining... he kept asking if I'm SURE im only taking in 2500 so obviously now I'm paranoid I've been accidentally over eating and probably irrational and ED fuelled but he's made me just feel like a total pig :( He also warned me that I might have to eat a lower amount than the average perspn for the rest of my kife just to maintain so - ugh, I don't know, I'm just starting to feel really low about all of this.

And still hungry lol!!

Leah,

Your seeing a docter for weight gain. He should be happy your putting on weight. You should be happy about putting on weight. Its a natural part of life. And if your still hungry, you need to eat more. Your body is telling you something.

Just think when your recovered, all days arent going to be the same. One day your you might have 2300 calories. One day you might have 2700 calories. You probably won't even be counting calories.

If you need more food, (As my mother would say) EAT SANTA EAT

Hey Hungry Panda,

Your doing a great job. I wish I could gain 5 more pounds in 6 days. You never gain to fast when trying to gain weight. Think about it, isn't gaining weight the whole purpose of this. :) Your docter should be happy that you gained more. I would listen to what he says to do next

well to gain weight you will often not be hungry, that's part of the process...you eat anyway. so eat your nighttime snack and make it something super high calorie and not very bulky...like peanut butter blended into a smoothie with 1 cup regular ice cream and 1/2 cup cream.

drink your calories. don't fill up on water, drink regular milk, juice, and sweetened teas. it's obvious that if you fill your belly with water it's going to leave less space for food so avoid doing this.

so eat your nighttime snacks and make them dense and drink your calories!

I normally try and have high calorie juices and stuff to help gain, I never really drink water unless I have too. I like the idea of making high calorie things, but not very bulky. I'll have to try that out. Thanks

@blueberry: Lol, your not immature. I actually like the idea. My Aunt, who knows I love ice cream, bought me all the Ben and Jerrys Flavors. Not even joking. I'll try and see if that helps If I try a new one everyday.

I love Mexican food—tacos with crispy shells, crunchy taco bowls and salty tortilla chips. But I could do without the extra calories, fat and sodium in the salty, often deep-fried tortillas served at many restaurants or the less-than-healthy packaged versions of these foods sold in the supermarket.
