I've been working on a deficit goal basis for months now, and trust me, those deficits usually don't match what you lose.  For example, this week my deficit has been over 6000 cals and I have gained 0.4 lbs, and it's not like I don't have weight to lose, either.  You can never tell what your body will do.  My advice:  try to forget about the scale altogether, eat healthily and have some fun moving and toning your body.  Make your body happy and it will make you happy no matter what the scale says.

Perhaps you could find a friend who wants to do something with you - something you both would find fun.  I have a blast when my friends and I do Zumba together.  I don't think I would be nearly as motivated to go if I knew I was going it alone.

NOT a very good two weeks here.  I got sick, which threw me for a loop and I had to stop exercising, and other things happening in my life just got to me all at once, so I have just kind of stopped dead in my tracks.  I need to restart that positive engine of mine before this gets out of control.  The thing is, I am still feeling sick so just don't have the energy to do anything other than what needs to get done each day.  Excuses, though.  I also think I just needed a break.  My childhood confessional memories are coming back ... 'Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.  It has been 12 days since I counted calories, and these are my sins...' 

I've never had to 'restart' my engines before.  How do I do that?  How do I not stay stuck in this rut while the stressors in my life push me toward it?  Just do it.  I know that is the answer and I will start doing it, tomorrow, after I have spent 10 hours sitting at my computer today doing year end marking and report cards for my students.  I know that the challenge this week was to be proud of yourself, but I am not in a place to do that right now.  Maybe I'm scared to get any skinnier.  Scared of what, though?  Seems ridiculous, doesn't it?

This week's challenge - what I didn't know a year ago?  Um, like, EVERYTHING!  I didn't know it would be so easy for me to make this lifestyle change, but I have and I haven't looked back.  I didn't know how important a support system like my friends on CC would be, but that is what has proven to make the difference for me.  I didn't know I could do it, but now I KNOW I can.

The question of the week this week was 'What's your reward?'  Even though I have lost a significant amount of weight, I have never really said that any particular thing or activity has been a reward.  I buy clothes when I need them.  Other than that, just feeling better is reward enough, at least so far.  I think when I am done with all of this I am going to try to get surgery to remove my excess skin.  We'll see about the $$'s.  I really need it on my arms at the minimum.  Losing 125 lbs has left me with extreme bat wings. 

I really liked the idea of the necklace, with beads representing each 10 lbs.  Unfortunately, those beads are WAY beyond my means.  Perhaps I could come up with a cheaper alternative to represent my journey.  Thanks for the idea! I love it!

Shredders - Even with missing three days of shredding last weekend I have now completed day 20 and, dare I say, I am about to attempt level 3 for the very first time tomorrow morning before work.  Wish me luck, and best of luck to all of you struggling through this with me!  We are ALL going to stick with it and be better people for it!

Hey, Schmoozers - I have a question!

Does anyone have any suggestions for workout DVD's besides JILLIAN FROM HELL? LOL I don't really feel that way about her, but I definitely want to get some variety into my at home exercise.  I live in Canada without fancy cable so those exercise on demand things you guys get to access are out of the question for me.

Any ideas?

When I am outside walking, I love to listen to the soundtrack from Hairspray.  This may seem a bit odd to all of you, especially since I am seeing things like Metallica, etc., but I think I am a visual person so associating the movie with the tunes is what does it for me...I especially like the following lines from Welcome to the 60's:

"Your mama's hip, (hip) your mamas in (in mama)

Your mama's lookin at herself and wondering where you been? (where you been?)"

because it so reminds me of conversations and songfests my daughter and I have had regarding me finding myself again with my weight loss (or maybe for the first time!), and I smile every time I sing along with it in my head.
