Everything amethystgirl said. No one is saying that 125lbs is not a healthy weight either. However, for you, losing weight in general is going to be incredibly risky, given your previous attitudes to food and weight loss. You may claim to have complete control over it this time, but it's so easy to slip into that old mindset. Do you really want to chance going through all that again for the sake of a few vanity pounds, when you could easily look 'fitter and slimmer' (if you even need to) by having fitness oriented goals, not just focussing on a number on a scale? |

I agree with Linden and Solid. You are at a healthy weight and you really shouldn't be putting yourself at risk by trying to lose weight again. Yes, it's a healthy weight, yes you insist you do not want to get sucked into an anorexic mindset again, but you can't guarantee that. You of all people should know how powerful and debilitating an ED can be. If you want to look slimmer and fitter, why not focus on eating to maintain, but incorporate some toning into your workout? This will change your body shape without losing weight. |

As do I. I still felt like it came across as rude and hostile. |

Wow, okay, no need to be rude. I'm just offering some advice. I have a friend with an anxiety disorder and it really helped her to talk to someone professional about it. But whatever, if you're going to go on an internet forum and make such things public, then reject someone's concerns and offend them, that's your prerogative. |

Relax! It happens and as long as you don't make a regular habit of it (which I imagine you don't, what with having kids), it's not the end of the world. Just start again the next day :) everyone needs to let off steam once in a while, especially if they have kids! |

| Weight Loss | Does coffee = water? | Jan 02 2012 18:46 (UTC) |

Why not try cutting down rather than giving up altogether? I can't function in the mornings without a cup of coffee, but I try and keep my drinking of it during the day down to a minimum. I would definitely recommend drinking more water. Not only does it do wonders for your skin to keep hydrated, but it will also help reduce water retention, which could be making the number on the scale bigger. |

Argh, I'm sorry :( *hugs* I've had panic attacks a few times and they're often pretty scary and definitely not very nice. Did something happen that brought on the panic attack or did it seem to just come out of nowhere and for no discernible reason? If it's the latter, you may wish to think about seeking help, as it could be a symptom of a larger anxiety disorder, whereas generally, having a panic attack in response to something bad that's happened (bad news, an argument etc.) is horrible, but quite natural. Try not to analyse the situation and dwell on it. You're so scared you're going to have a panic attack again that the very thought of it is causing you to panic. Next time you start feeling this way, concentrate on taking some deep breaths. As _adrienne_ said, panic attacks escalate, so trying to relax if you feel jittery will stop it morphing into a full blown attack. |

This is kind of insensitive. Everyone has their own insecurities, big or small, and it's quite reductive to just tell them to get over it because you perceive yourself as being worse off. I obviously agree that the OP should be more comfortable in her own skin though. |

A kilo a week is also a LOT of weight to try and lose, especially if you're already at a healthy weight. You'd be much better off trying to lose 0.5-1lb a week, rather than kilos. It's a marathon remember, not a sprint, |

Everyone is vain to some extent. I like it when people tell me I look nice. Is that the reason I decide to put on make-up, do my hair and wear nice clothes that day? Hell no, I do all that for me and to make ME feel good. But compliments aren't unwelcome, unless they're creepy/sleazy of course... |

OP, you are absolutely gorgeous. I think the issue with your face is more an insecurity problem than an actual physical problem. I certainly wouldn't advise losing anymore weight. You are already very small and losing weight would not only take you into the unhealthy range, but completely **** up your metabolism, as well as running a serious risk of messing up the rest of your body (hair, periods, skin etc.) Hardly worth it for a face that is already pretty lovely, in my opinion :) |

durenia, I highly doubt the OP's sole reason for wanting to lose weight is so people will compliment her, but that doesn't mean it isn't nice to hear! It's like getting a haircut, or buying new clothes. You might have just done it because your fringe was getting in your eyes, or your favourite top got a stain, but you're still slightly bummed if no one notices. OP, congratulations on your weight loss! 15lbs is fantastic and you definitely shouldn't feel discouraged, keep at it. I can definitely echo what people have said about people they see on a regular basis not noticing. I got no comments about a fairly small loss from people I saw every day, but when I saw a friend I hadn't seen in months, he said I looked great and asked if I'd lost weight? Another reason people might not say anything is politeness. As Danny said, most people will try not to make any comments - positive or negative - about a person's weight unless they're absolutely sure they're right. In fact, the friend I just mentioned almost didn't say he thought I'd lost weight, as he worried it might come across as offensive. You ever meet those hyper-sensitive people, who you tell them they look nice and they respond with 'What? So normally I look like crap?' I'm not saying you're that person at all, but nobody wants to run the risk of illiciting that kind of response with what was intended to be a compliment. It might take a while for people to say anything, but that shouldn't dishearten you. You've made amazing progress already and YOU can see the difference, on the scale and in front of the mirror, so keep doing it for you. |

Hahaha, it's a line from '11:59' by Blondie. I am also from the home of the January sales. Sadly, unless it's on my day off, they don't fill me with much joy. I work in retail, you see, so January sales generally mean a busy shop filled with stressed people, myself included! |

I would definitely agree with this. Those websites can be harmful and triggering, but they aren't the root cause. Most people I know who've had an ED have some psychological turmoil and/or a traumatic event. |

That's my main worry about that new calorie report feature is that it will encourage unhealthy competition for people that either aren't properly clued up about eating right, or who have deep-seated and disordered thoughts about eating. It's pretty sad :( |

I blame all these pop-up ads on the internet nowadays, promising this magic pill or ingredient that will make you lose 20LBS OF BELLY FAT IN TWO WEEKS! I think I'd be terrified if I lost that much weight in such a short space of time and would immediately be booking an appointment with my doctor, but it seems that people would rather hear that you lost weight through a quick fix like that (read: scam) instead of actually working harder for it. |

I was JUST about to say 'fitspo' instead of 'thinspo' too! I find looking at pictures of fit, toned bodies or reading quotes about fitness so motivating if I'm struggling to make myself get up and go to the gym. |

Actually, erwallace, it's perfectly fine to still eat a little of what you enjoy in moderation. So long as you stay within your daily calorie allowance, you will continue to lose weight. Binging on junk food is obviously not going to be good for you and I agree that a diet consisting solely of bad things - even if it's within your daily limits - is detrimental to being healthy overall, as opposed to merely lighter, since you might just end up becoming 'skinny fat'. However, a lot of people completely restrict themselves while they 'diet' and find it very difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle this way. They either completely fall off the wagon, or they do manage to lose the weight they want to, but return to their old habits once they've done and gain it all back again. I'm a healthy weight for my height, eat very healthily, LOOOVE exercising, but if I want a piece of chocolate or a glass of red wine and feel like I've earned it (e.g., gone really hard at the gym), I'm not going to deny myself it. |

The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
