Have you even thought about how you make others feel by this question.  So many people on this site really need encouragement...by the pics you have posted and with the question...whatever.  Not to be mean but I HATE when skinny people like you rub it in the faces of others that you feel fat.  If you cannot see you that you are THIN...get help now.

Sorry if I came off angry it is just crazy how inconsiderate thin people can act when talking about thier body around people that are obviously bigger than them.  I have small and big friends, and friends that are just right...I have told my thin friends to lay off when talking about thier "belly pooch" when one of my friends has been trying to lose 20 pounds for the last year...get over it.

EDIT...okay about the ED and drug problems...did not see that.  Sorry if I offenended.

The Lounge what do you think about being friends with benefits? Apr 16 2008

not a good idea...been there done that!  someone gets hurt or  someone gets attached.  What sucks is when you see the person with someone else and you get to say nothing...because you are ONLY friends with benefits.  I have been on both sides... the one who hurts the other and the one who has been hurt. If the other person can have casual sex with you don't ya think maybe you are not the only one!  Sex is not just sex after a few times with the same person, an emotional attachment will soon follow.  I guess if one is is okay with sharing then go for it! But it seems sharing tends to get old....

I would start by trying to lose the 30 pounds you gained and then go from there.  Be realistic about the weight loss  and the time it will take to lose.  Spring is here so get outside and walk it off!  Exercising can make one feel better about themselves and I would start with that, and then it will probably make you want to eat more healthy.  That is my suggestion!

Muscle weighs more than fat....water weight gain... and more enrgy output means more energy needed!  i am kinda experiencing a similar situation.  I am about 5'4 and weigh 151...so slightly overweight but I do have an athletic build with a pooch that needs to go bye bye. I have just started counting calories and cutting out soda, milk, and some other stuff that my body does not need.  I have also become way more active since the weather is getting better.  I am more hungry so i eat more.  Point being is i have only lost 3 pounds, about 1 a week.  But.....I am down a pant size and my t shirts are fitting better and my face is thinner.  Go by measurements, not weight!

The Lounge Thinking about leaving him. Apr 14 2008

Leave him... I know from experience!  He probablywill not change his mind about marriage, kids, or ideals on life.  I was with my man for 12 years before I left him due to the above listed.  We were not married but we had lived together for the previous 10 years.  I ended up seeing someone else, and it drove him crazy.  It drove him crazy that he could not have me as well.  Ya know what...about a year and a half down the road it worked out for us.  He straightened up and realized he was being a downer and was depressed.  One thing that did not change...kids and marriage.  I have decided that I do nto need that either.  He bought a house for us to live in out in the country and we are loving life now.  We have been together for a total of 16 years, with one or two serious breaks, and I left him once.  I know you have probably hear this more than once...if it is meant to be you will get back together.  The important thing is  to make sure when/if you get back together you are on the same page with kids, marriage, and living situation stuff.  Oh and try not to fall back into old habits with each other...it is important to be very aware of patterns of behavior on your part and his.

It is your decision and the longer you wait the harder things get, and animosity builds up and then you may end up hating each other.  Talk to him and if he is not receptive maybe try the next day, again if not do what you need to for yourself.

And one more thing...it hurts to hurt someone you love...so if you leave it may hurt but remember all the negative that you do not need from him.  That is my experience and my advice...I wish you luck and wisdom to make the right decision for yourself.

Weight Loss Break from exercising? Apr 14 2008

You can do really quick resistance workouts in your dorm without taking the time to go to the gym.  You can do pushups and situps. you can use a bookbag with heavy books as improvised weights (melkor's idea.)   You can get resistance bands for really cheap.

If you exercise 20 minutes a day, several per week you'll maintain fitness a much better than if you do nothing.  You could do it in a few 5-10-minute chunks, used as study breaks.  Put the books down, do some pushups and body balances, then go back to work.  You can also use 10-20 minute walks as study breaks.

Good luck with the exams!

I was a student and know how the finals are a stressful time.  I have been told by many instructors it is good to take a break and let the info set in.  Also exercise can stimulate the brain so exercising in small bits may actually help you on your exams.  If you have recorded classes you are studying find a way to listen to the class while doing a work out like abs or lunges or whatever, that is if you feel bad about taking a break.   It may not feel like you are doing much.  Also a point to remember  it is good to challenge your body by doing different activities or changing up your exercie routine...  Kick some butt on those exams!

Weight Loss not counting calories Apr 13 2008

I am kinda with ya on this one...I think it is a good guideline and in the beginning it helps one to understand exactly how many calories are in certain foods and portion sizes.  I think maybe the everyday weighing is worse though, that can be discouraging.  It can take some time to log everyday but I have just started utilizing the tagging tool so it takes less time.  I eat many of the same foods each day so it really helps me.  I know you probably know this but weight loss takes time and effort, it may seem like it is not working.  Do you exercise and do you have your activity level set right? Do you have a deficit that is gonna lead to weight loss or weight maintenance?  Just some suggestions that may help...it is your decision.

ps..just saw you have been a member for awhile now..so you probably know all I just suggested.

Okay, kind of repeating what others have said, but here it goes...

1) Poeple who have no room to complain about thier body, especially in front of people that are bigger than they are...how does the thinner one thinks that makes the other person feel...RUDE!

2)Trying to make dinner for me and my bf...he is a really picky eater.  No salads or veggies, but he loves pasta and bread!  Right now he is paying for the groceries so I have to limit what I get..healthy food tends to be expensive.

3)Knowing that I am gaining muscle, and losing fat...but the scale does not prove anything. I need to measure myself..or go by how my clothes fit.

4) Feeling the want for food I know I do not need... and trying to substitue with something healthy or do something to get my mind off the food.

5)I wanna quit smoking...but afraid of weight gain.  BTW I know smoking is bad but it is hard to break a 15 year habit.

So yeah there is alot to bitch about but in the end I know I will be a healthier person!  And this is only my condensed list of the battles of losing weight!

Vegetarian Should we own animals? Apr 11 2008

I cannot even believe I wasted my time reading this bs...some people need to get off thier high horse about  purebreds.  I had a dog that was a mix breed, and he was great.  I now have a purebred siberian husky which I got for free because the owners could not handle him....hmmm purebreds the only ones wanted???? My mix breed dog was great...no health problems, died at age 12.  He was a husky, border collie, and wolf mix.  My friend just lost two golden retrievers at the age of 7 to cancer... hmm purebreds seem to have more health issues.    So to answer the original question...yes we should be able to have animals as our own...our own family.

My mom once found a grub-looking worm thing in a piece of corn on the cob. I still hate eating corn from the cob now, but I do sometimes. The funny (well, gross) thing at the time was she kept eating the corn because she said it was so delicious.

Also watch out for the little moth-type things that hang out in grains. We got those a few months ago (apparently lots of stuff at the grocery store has their eggs in it ... ewwww). They are a complete pain to get rid of. I had to throw away all my grits, rice, cereal, oatmeal, etc. etc.

Happened to me too....but the bugs ended up all over my house and it was really gross. i will never forget looking at my cieling and it was moving...GROSS!

Go to the store on sat am and they usually have free samples.  I am not sure where you are located but trader joes and new seasons are great free sample stores that have food that is usually good for you as well.  The stores are not the cheapest but who says you have to buy anything, just eat the free food!

Do you have a car?  If you do then this is a way to get some extra calories burned? If not maybe i can help some others.  When going to the store or  shopping whatever park far away from the store.  Rockstar parking is great but when one needs the exercise that is an easy way to burn up some calories.   The idea of getting off the bus at a previous stop and walking to the next one is great.  Walking is underrated sometimes.  Imagine the time spent driving around waiting for a closer parking spot, when you could have taken the spot aways back and been there quicker any way!  Hope you have accumulated some good ideas here...good luck!

Fitness Hanging Belly Syndrome Apr 07 2008

With midsection weight issues I believe serious cardio is how to lose it.  I have been told you can do all the ab execises you want, but you NEED the cardio to burn off the fat.  Underneath you are building you ab muscles, but the fat will not just go away.  I always try to flex my stomach and stand tall when doing any kind of cardio.  The focus on the area reminds me 10 min into the workout why I am doing this and keep it up!  My anatomy and physiology teacher said that people who are overweight or bigger in general have stronger abs because they use them more intensly to hold up the extra weight.  I have a belly well a pooch, or a fat tire whatever ya wanna call it, and it is so hard to get rid of.  Surgery is a big decision...but it may be for you.  Give yourself some more time to try all the suggestions from the post, and maybe talk to a physician.  Good luck with your decision!
