beth- thank you so much! but yes you are right..i know what i SHOULD be doing..i was/am just needing the reassurance so i feel like i have the right to do it i guess. sometimes since i am a normal weight now i feel like i dont deserve to be able to do and eat all that! loctusflower- thank you for responding. i was definitely..and sort of still am panicking. the thing keeping me going is knowing that if i restrict i will mess up my metabolism! i don't want that..i want to be able to eat alot to maintain for the rest of my life :P haha. and i am a bit above what i have ever been weight-wise, so i think i am about ready to stop gaining if i havent already. and you say you experienced some of that yourself..did you have days when you ate that much, too..even when you were weight restored? and what amount of cals do you maintain on now..if you don't mind me asking! partyring- you make a very valid point! before ED i would randomly pig out all the time and i was very healthy and a normal weight. thanks for that reminder :) and i messaged you my eats!

yeah that is what i was trying today..and instead i am a million times more hungry than i usually am! did you find that once you and your body started getting used to your routine you slowly became less hungry at night?
EDIT: scratch that, Beth! for a moment i forgot that you are still in the gaining part of recovery! which means i hope you are still hungry at night and eating PLENTY! :P |

even though i'm not hungry in the morning/afternoon i make myself eat and bring plenty of snacks when i am gone for a period of time. i am guilty of not eating until the late afternoon sometimes though, that is if i don't realize it. as soon as i realize i make myself eat! i have been eating 2500 at least on average, too! |

yeah the thing is my appetite is not something i can rely on yet. on most days i could easily not even eat until 4 or 5 pm. without feeling hunger, but then once i eat i get really hungry out of the blue. i have gained above my optimum weight..well at least i think i have...i am the biggest i have ever been..and i used to be a very healthy person..so i think i'm there. i guess since im larger than i have ever been i am sort of freaking out that i am still so hungry on 2500 cals usually. ugh |

yeah i think it would be a good idea to message hedgren..thanks for the suggestion! and i definitely get enough water and protein! it just seems that whenever i eat a medium-large amount early in the day, i could just eat and eat and eat! so you don't suggest i take wordsmithmkuk's advice so i don't go over 2500? |

beth, did you mean that i should'NT immediately drop my cals..? and my cals werent the same everyday while gaining..sometimes it was definitely 3000-3500 but some days i would reach more like 2700. i just always stayed above 2500. i am a short girl (5'3) so i am figuring i will not be able to maintain on too high of calories...hence the goal of around 2500 from now on. |

i havent really dropped my cals..i just try to eat 2500 instead of 2500-3000 since i am over a BMI of 21 and have pretty much stopped gaining. |

im in the maintenance stage so i should be on about 2500 cals a day..and i am still so hungry! i could eat another 1000 right now easily..and its not even dinner time yet! i always eat more at night so i know i will want to eat again after dinner. :/ |

Great, great post, Beth! It can be so difficult to see those who have come so far stop at a BMI of 18.5 rather than whatever their healthy weight may be! i went from a BMI to 17.2-ish to a BMI of 22 currently. I think i am done gaining but if not then it is just something i'll have to accept! hey, its worth being healthy, happy and actually having a LIFE! My life has already changed so much for the better and i would not change it for anything now! |

i am not sure i am still gaining weight..it has definitely slowed..i know that much. for a while it was stable and then it has been fluctuating..which i know is normal for even a non ED person so i am trying not to over think it, ya know? my menstrual cycle did return..but that was last month (it was a full blown cycle heavy and long)..and this second month i was suppose to start 6 days ago and it hasnt returned..so i'm a bit confused. thank you for answering my question though :) |

thank you so much for your response! i appreciate it immensely! do you have any idea if the calories i eat have to reliably be 2500+ every single day or is it just an average of 2500 cals..like 2000 one day 3000 another? |

thank you so much for responding. it feels really good to hear that Hedgren said all of that to you. i will keep trucking along! are you ever afraid that once you are suppose to lower your calories after those months are up that you will find yourself still being hungry and unsatisfied? |

Oh Beth! i just saw this..i have not been on in a few days. PLEASE remember that you truly are an inspiration for everyone on this thread. the fact that you are still trying and fighting shows exactly that..that is part of why you are such a great role model on here! just keep doing exactly what you are doing..FIGHTING! you can do this. i know you can. we are all behind you and i am always here to message if you need anything! you have come way too far to fall back into old awful ED ways. you know that you have more energy now and are happy and on your way to a HEALTHY life! that is so much more important than anything ED "tells" you is going to happen. ED lies and you know the truth! so keep telling yourself that this is the number one best decision you have ever made..to get healthy. it may be the hardest but its worth it! and we are all here for you. stay strong and keep your head up! |
