Similar to that one : I put my after-gym-while-on-the-bus-to-work-snack of yogurt into my Lululemon bag (the reusable shopping type one, not purse) on top of my clothes for AFTER the gym. Somehow, I didn't remember to put the lid on and after my work-out and after showering, I went to get my clean clothes out only to find them covered in yogurt... And I didn't have time to go home to get new clean clothes. I ended up having to wear my sweaty gym clothes to work. Luckily, I work as a nanny in a private house so I used their laundry machine and got to change part way through the day! |

Name: Cassenya CC start wt and CC start date: 227lbs, August 4th or 5th 2009 Start Weight in May, 2010: 170.5 *May 1st - Excited to start another month! Thanks Mischiefdm for creating and tracking these threads! It's a great motivator! *May 8th - Hmm, up two pounds. I've been extra careful about counting my calories to make sure that I am actually eating enough/not too many. I measure everything exactly. I haven't lost any inches in the past two months either, though I have lost flub and gained muscle on my thighs. I've been working out a lot, which I've heard can cause water retention and that can cause weight to go up from muscle gain. I'm getting a little frustrated with this constant yo-yoing back and forth with 5-10lbs before actually getting any progress into the next decade of pounds. *May 15th - Hooray. Not only have I dropped to 160's (high-end of it, but 160's nonetheless!) but it's also TTOM and so I am amazed to see a loss. Although, my period came a few days early but I don't think that's anything to worry about. I've always been slightly-sporadic because of my PCOS and I usually mark my start date anywhere in a two week radius. I went for a shiatsu massage on Wednesday and am feeling it in my shoulders so I haven't made it to the gym or bike ride for the past two days... But tomorrow I get back on track! *May 22nd - A 2lbs loss! Hooray! *May 29th - A pound away from my goal, but still a wonderful 4lbs loss for the month! |

I was a picky eater as a child. I refused to eat almost all meat, not for moral reasons, but because of the texture (I still won't eat most meats...) My parents had the rule that I had to sit at the table until I ate what was served. We never had a dog I could sneak the food to.... However, we had a baseboard heater and my parents wouldn't stick around the whole time I was at the table. I would hide it, then the next morning clean it out before I woke my mom. But boy oh boy, would it get stinky when I forgot porkchops in there for a week! (I was pretty sneaky for a 6 year old!) I don't have kids, but my theory when I do (and what I use for the kids I nanny) is that I will give them some of various things. They get to pick what color of peppers (they love them, so that's not a problem) and what kind of sandwich they would like (for the past year and a half, it's been a request of mayo and ketchup, which I conveniently forget the ketchup every.freaking.time that they no longer ask for ketchup) Then I get to pick two fruits and another veggie (6-8 pieces all together) and a meat/protein (ham, egg etc) if they need it added to their plate. And they can pick the flavor of yogurt, or choose apple sauce or cottage cheese if they desire. If they want seconds or anything else, they know they need to eat what they have on their plate. I tend to give them less than they will generally eat just so they aren't overwhelmed and do get around to eating their less-than-favorite foods. It's more work for me, but in the end they get a better balance.
The kids I nanny don't drink apple juice, aside from mixed with two-parts water, for breakfast. And it's one kid-sized cup max, and what they have left over once they finish eating is dumped. They drink chocolate milk at snack if they want (regular milk mixed with just enough chocolate milk to add color and tiny bit of taste) Aside from those two times, they get water. They rarely have junk food... just as a dessert twice a week (the other 5 days are apple sauce, yogurt, fruit as dessert) and they eat regular cheerios with a few honey nut sprinkled in for breakfast. Waffles and french toast are a treat, with just a bit of syrup. I think it's a great choice to limit their crap-intake, although the older one has a major sweet-tooth and goes a bit crazy at the mention of "sugary-junk".... |

I was an avid C25K'er for a while. As much as my schedule would let me, since I only made it out once a week and couldn't seem to move on to the second week without being dizzy halfway through. Then I started going to the gym at my boyfriends work. It has expensive treadmills that don't even creak when you run on them (a big reason I wouldn't use the cheaper ones we have in the gym at our apartment) One day I decided to see how I could do... and I ran 30m before I even realized it. Straight. None of this off and on stuff from the C25K. That was a few weeks ago, now I run about 45m. I put on my headphones and watch whatever show I can find on the treadmills TV. I try to base when I'm at the gym with when I know there is a good show on. I found C25K to almost hinder my progression on building stamina. Maybe it's not better doing it this way, but it's working for me. |

what was it? Ground beef stirfry with broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, spinach and snap peas. A bit of Thai sauce and LOTS of hot sauce. what gave you the idea? I wanted ground beef and had veggies to use. I was looking for a meal without any starch (though yes, I know the carrots are considered a "starchy" vegetable, but I mean without bread/pasta etc) is this something you regularly make? Yes. can you think of any variations of this dish/snack? I hate to admit it, but I'm not creative. |

I should also add that I only plan for 1400 calories and have a limit of about 1650ish a day, so it gives me 250 calories to fiddle with during the day. And sometimes I change it up but generally keep to plan. |

On Saturday night / Sunday morning I plan my days for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Then on Wednesday I plan Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Sunday is my cheat day and I don't write down what I eat, but do keep a mental note of the calories as I go. I do it this way because then grocery shopping is so much easier to do. I have the day off on Wednesdays (I work 4x 10 hour days) so Sunday and Wednesday are my shopping days at the grocery store across the street from my house. It helps me save money on buying foods that I won't actually get around to eating and also helps me save time having to go to the store for something I need last minute. |

| Weight Loss | How many calories up or down? | May 23 2010 19:56 (UTC) |

The problem with that is between an apple and a baby cucumber, you have already "added" 50 calories. By the end of the day, you may have "added" 300 calories... putting you at too big of a deficit which could put a hindrance on your weight loss. I round up by 5's if needed. But never to the nearest 50. |

When asked this question at two years old, I apparently responded that I wanted to be a red fire truck.
Now, 22 years later, I have no idea. I know I want to work with kids. I am a nanny, and have been since I was 18 (with different families along the way). I have given thought to opening a day care or working in one, but I am not sure. |

While it is possible it is from your ED, it is also possible it's not. I have the same problem, but I have never had an ED. I clog the shower drain in a matter of days with the amount of hair that comes out when I shower... even while I pull at my hair often to get the loose strands out and put them in the garbage can. I shed more than my cats... And they shed TONS. I'd bring it up with your doctor and see if they think it is related. It could be something else. I have yet to ask my doctor and I have had this problem since I was a teenager. |

Seriously, you know you are eating in an unhealthy way. Fix it. Sure, you may lose a bit of weight but just wait until your body goes into starvation mode and starts hording whatever food it can get, causing you to gain weight and then start wondering where it is coming from. In excess? How is eating AT LEAST 1200 calories in excess? Too much food? Fine, then eat higher calorie options to fill up. This is not the way to go. And you shouldn't be looking for reassurance around here if that is your method. |

Meh, feelings get hurt every day. Personally, I don't bother letting it get in my way. I am better off without someone like that in my life. However, as to the first part : "What if you know for a fact that the person isn't doing the best they can?" - if they aren't bothering to put forth an effort, are they really worth yours? |

I have a lot of ill-feelings towards my father. Long story short, he was mentally (and physically, on a few occasions) abusive and when I was 12 years old and made the choice to live with my mother instead of him, he put me through hell. My uncle had to take me to the airport because he refused. I wish him the best, which to be blunt, I don't feel he deserves. I don't want to forgive him because I don't want to ever have the chance to reminisce on what could have been a decent relationship, had we ever patched up what has happened in the past. I am perfectly happy holding a grudge. |

Depends. He's only 23, so I wouldn't find it too appealing if he was already going gray. Though, it's not something I would love him any less for, either. Gray hair suits some middle aged men. Especially the light salt-and-pepper look that some have. I dye my hair once a year. I would probably keep that up when I get grays. Though, at the rate I shed, I will likely be bald before I get around to having gray hair. (FYI : Not shedding from an ED, in case anyone was wondering about that statement. I just shed, a lot.) Hmm... Woman tend to sag and shrink. Older men generally (IMO) look better. |

| The Lounge | Bike for Pizza - Cheat day | May 22 2010 17:35 (UTC) |

The meal I get every time is : Nutrition Facts Serving Size 1 Burrito Amount Per Serving Calories from Fat 207 Calories 579 % Daily Values* Total Fat 23g 35% Saturated Fat 11g 55% Polyunsaturated Fat 2.8g Monounsaturated Fat 7.6g Cholesterol 78mg 26% Sodium -Total Carbohydrate 58g 19% Dietary Fiber 2.3g 9% Sugars - Protein 33g Which, you're right, isn't really a "cheat" meal. I get it made with 1/2 rice on a whole wheat tortilla instead of the spinach tortilla it comes with, so mine wouldn't even be the 579 calories listed. This is my typical cheat meal though. I rarely have greasy foods like pizza or burgers because they make me feel sick since I don't eat greasy things anymore. I also burn more than 1000 calories on my bike ride getting there and back, lol. |
