My brother actually used to joke around and call me fat when I was younger...a few years later, we were hanging out together and he told me I was too skinny and that I'd look better if I put on some weight. I mentioned that he used to call me fat, and he didn't even remember it! He told me that I was always skinny so he doesn't know why he'd have called me fat. So yeah, take what brothers say with a grain of salt.

I can go 2.5 minutes on a plank (on elbows) if i really try. I usually just do a couple sets of 1-1.5 minutes though, just tried to see how long I could do it.

Also, isn't the crow pose more balance? I'm in Yoga 1 in school and that's what my teacher said...we did the crow pose the other day, and I held it for about 20 seconds once I got my balance down

Here's a great website that will answer all your questions.

I wasn't aware that people weren't allowed to ask questions on these forums anymore......funny, I thought that was the reason they were here.

I used to take lexapro and it never seemed to affect my weight. The first two weeks I was on it, I actually lost a bunch of weight since I was on too high of a dosage and got really nauseous/sick and couldn't eat or do much.

I don't think SSRI's really affect weight in general though...at least that's what my doctor told me before I started taking it, and from my personal experience.

Who are these people with 12-14 inch thighs? Jeez! That is tiny!

I was wondering that too...is that when measured at the largest part of the thighs? I'm 5'4 and 31.5-22.5-35...I measure my thighs at the biggest part and they're just barely under 20 inches each. I really don't like the size of my thighs compared to the rest of my body so I'm feeling more self-conscious now <_<

No, you don't burn 1090 calories because you're HOLDING ON and doing very little of the work the machine assumes you're doing. omg. she cant be serious.

It probably means you need to be more active.  Did the doctor say you were able to workout?  If so, I would find an activity you like and get to it.

Doctor doesn't know about my previous eating disorder. But I was exercising 8+ hours a week until like 6 weeks ago...and since then I've still been walking 40 minutes 5 days a week and going to tae kwon do once a week

You could use the katch-mcardle formula for bmr, but there probably won't be too much of a difference. Here: BMR (men and women) = 370 + (21.6 X lean mass in kg)

Dehydration sounds more likely.

If you mean from the drinking, I only drank on Friday night, and it's Wednesday now and that fat is still gone (and I've gained .5 lbs since last week)

If I'm not mistaken calories burned depends mostly on the HR % of your max. you are at. So if you lift at 80% of your max HR and when you do cardio you're at 60 %, then it could definitely make sense. Though I have to say I doubt you burn up to 450 calories in 50 minutes of lifting. But it's not impossible.

Yea, that seems pretty high - for me being 5'6" and 160 lbs female 52 my calorie burn according to my HRM for a heavy intense lifting session is only about 425 calories in an hour

When I do intense interval training my calorie burn would be about 1- 200 more per hour, but it has to be high intense training to get that high

Now that I think about it, the times it hit 450+ calories might've included my burn from my warm-up (so that would be for 50 min lifting + 10 min cardio) I do know it would get at least in the high 300's/low 400's for just the lifting pretty often though.

I do go pretty hard with weights though, my heart rate would get in the 190's-200's from doing the main compounds (squats/deadlifts/bench), compared to the 160's-180's during cardio. But I had less rests in cardio

I am curious about men's women ideal size?

Good question!

Well, fellas?

I'm not a guy, but my fiance always says how he wants me to gain 10-20 lbs since I tend to put on weight in my butt/thighs. (I'm 5'4, 108 lbs, size 0/xs currently). He said he'd love it if I was 130 lbs, but my body absolutely refuses to go above 117-120...even when I ate as much as him and didn't exercise lol. And he's a big guy so I was eating a ton. He also really doesn't like when I have a thigh gap.

If you go to Wikipedia, the food and drug administration advises a 1200-1500 calorie diet for effective weight loss, with seriously obese people possibly needing to cut calories down to 500-800.  and, that maintenance of weight occurs with 2000 cals per day.  I tried to cut and paste the article but it didnt work.  if you go to wikipedia, under weight loss, you will see this.

If you actually read the article correctly...it says a MINIMUM of 1200 for women and a MINIMUM of 1500 for men. Which means it's the amount a small, old, sedentary woman/man can lose weight on.

And it's just kind of stupid to think that everyone in the world maintains on the same amount of calories.

Ya it could def be your wide stance on squats.  Try to narrow that stance girl!  Don't go wider than shoulder width next time.  If u can see em bulging or just feel it???

Yeah I can see them bulging out noticeably, and then if I don't lift for like 4 days they don't bulge out as much. Thank you for the advice, I'm definitely gonna try to narrow my stance a bit
