Weight Loss 50 pounds in 1 year is not realistic? May 14 2013

i dont see why 50lbs in a year is unrealistic if your 192lbs. They say 2lbs per week is a good goal, so its double your goal, therefore perfectly possible.

You will of course loose weight faster at the beginning and then expect to slow down as you come into a healthy weight range. Whilst its frustrating when ur weight loss slows its also highly motivating at the beginning when you step on the scales and see yourself changing.

Cut back on the sugar and processed foods and hit the gym, whether its cardio or weights or swimming or horse riding find something you enjoy so you keep at it and vary exercises so you dont get bored and your body to used to it. The gym is going to be hard to start but give it a go ull feel and see a difference soon

Good luck

Weight Loss Can anyone help me achieve success so I can write a inspirational story for others to read? May 07 2013

Trying to completely change your diet will im sure cause you to revert straight back to it when things get tough, why not try small changes at a time.

Nothing wrong with having occasional convenience foods just try choose the healthier option, and add a large salad or steamed veggies. Salad and veggies can be very cheap and if you load up your plate with these and a small convenience meal youll be getting far less calories than having a huge convenience meal alone.

Good luck and dont give up, small changes will start to add up and motivate you to make bigger changes

you missed the fact that your male in your first post, it makes a huge difference. Obviously theyve given u 2500kcals to try and get you back to a heathly vmi, which i assume you now are. you said you wanted to to tone up and gain muscle so i would recommend you look at increasing your protein and adding weight lifting to your workouts

Soya yoghurt is yummy, my favourite brand is Alpro (not sure if u have in the USA) make sure you choose the plain one or be careful of the amount of added sugar in the other flavours

Whilst your doing well with the running already, i think you should aim to be increasing your exercise daily, firstly itll help you loose the weight you want and secondly your going to be rather shocked if you start basic military training and you walking/jogging for only 30 minutes.

Aim to add 2 minutes extra each day or take it up an incline or a half speed, keep pushing yourself with small changes and itll help you progress with your fitness and drop the weight you need.

but what is your weight now? Surely gaining a lb or 2 isnt a problem, you sound like you are panicing about gaining even though the point of upping calories and recovering is to gain and be healthy?

And btw gaining 1-2 lbs can very simply be the time of day, i often weight 2lbs more in the evening than in the morning. Not to mention water retention monthly.

Good luck

I agree with obviously eating properly not stopping the extreme crash diet of 800kcals, however why eat 2500kcals now? Recommended for a woman is 2000kcals a day and 2500kcals for a man, and usually on a diet 1500kcals, therefore if you are eating 2500 kcals yes you should expect to gain back some weight slowly, however the rapid gain you experienced is probably due to regaining fluids etc. I dont know your height and age etc to judge but at 150lbs you would have probably been a healthy weight and now your back to 170lbs i would suggest you stick to a healthy balanced diet and exercise and dont allow yourself to get into a cycle of yo-yo dieting

Good Luck

Health & Support 6lbs weight gain/ water retention from Antibiotics or Food Intolerance, has it happened to you? May 05 2013

ok so as i thought both could be causing it. Im actually very vegetarian and also intolerant to diary so it only leaves me tofu and beans etc for protein, but as i said i suddenly started craving for pasta which i gave into as i was so hungry but now the hunger is even worse and ive ended up eating it daily.

Today just fruit and veg and ill have to put up with the horribly uncomfortable cravings, can't keep giving into it and making the problem worse

Weight Loss Migraines on a diet Apr 27 2013

I empathise as i also suffer from terrible migraines. Mine are triggered by stress, tiredness and caffeine. Is it possible that your new diet has caused you to cut back on caffeine, like coke and sodas as well as tea and coffee? Is so you many find this is affecting you, if you look at most headache medication youll notice they contain caffeine. If you think this could be a trigger try spreading your caffeine out during the day and cutting it back slowly, and dont miss it one day as the withdrawl gives me the worst pain.

Good luck

Weight Loss Surprised by portion sizes.... Apr 23 2013

snooglies - i agree not eating tiny portions is not important at all, its about calories and nutritional content. But youve completely confirmed what i was saying that its easy to eat far more than a recommended portion, as you said for you 8-10oz of chicken is a portion instead of the 4oz playing card size piece you know you ought to eat. I was simply stating for a lot of people its normal to have a much larger portion of food than is necessary and therefore portion size becomes distorted meaning estimating calories is inaccurate.

sorry to hear your so down, good luck.

Try adding a protein powder mixed with full milk for breakfast, easy in the morning and will add protein which is important if your trying to gain muscle as well as increasing your carbs. You still need to be careful of eating too much fat and sugars because if if you want to gain you want it to be the right type of body mass.

Try lifting weights instead of too much cardio, this will help give you tone.

Fitness Do you sit in the Sauna? Apr 18 2013

Whilst sitting in a sauna is relaxing and good for your skin i don't unfortunately think it helps loose weight except sweat which you regain when you drink.

I live in Dubai and May-Sept its up to 130F and even 90% humidity, you go outside you SWEAT but I've definitely not seen skinny Arabs as a result so im guessing the heat doesnt help you burn much

Good attitude and good luck, the hardest part is starting.

Not sure how you are measuring BF but if you are using one of those scales they can be very inaccurate and affected by you retaining water, especially around the wrong time of month. I do doubt that if you are loosing weight you are gaining fat, its just impossible

Fitness Realistically, is there anything I can do to reduce cellulite? Apr 18 2013
20:37 (UTC)

wow how has this poor girls question about cellulite turned into you women telling her to dump her boyfriend or him becoming disfigured.

Stoplickingmyhand, i agree with you, i have similar stats and its very frustrating working hard to take care of yourself and be slim and still feel like you want to cover up because you have bumps on thighs and bum, im suffering the same. And you saying your boyfriend is good-looking is not his fault, i guess these women want you to dump him and date an ugly guy who is grateful of having any woman at all, but that still wont help the fact that you want to fix yourself for you.

But as much as ive looked i dont think any of these spa treatments work, they usually just reduce water retention and smooth the skin for a few days which is why they tell you to come back weekly to keep the effect. I guess we just keep eating healthily and working out and praying. Good luck

Chickey_soup not really necessary to get personal and attack, but fyi im very happy with healthy weight lose which i have sustained for years due to eating less than i did when i weighed 144lbs and working out a lot more. My weight sits steady at 128lbs and pops up to 132lbs when im on medication, so id say im doing pretty well, and im flattered that you took the time to read my profile and saw that i did the master cleanse which for me was a good thing but not something i mentioned nor suggested to the OP so im suprised you bring it up.

If eating more makes you loose more then your a very lucky lady, have a great day.

Kelrantymus... if you are inronman training then wow you are working out hard and of course your body needs extra calories, i absolutely agree with you

And i still stand by my point, are you sure you are eating the amount of calories you think you are, because portion sizes can make a huge difference and after over-eatting and gaining weight its possible that you are used to larger portions than you think

Dont worry about a scale its not the most important, im sure if you are working out and eating less you will be loosing and this will show in the fit of your clothes. I notice my jeans are to tight with just 4lbs difference. For me the fit of my jeans is always a good indication, however i definately need a scale to keep me on track, i like seeing the numbers every morning so i theres no question if im loosing or gaining, whenever I'm without a scale is when i gain. You could alternatively use a tape measure or piece of string mark with a felt tip where your waits and hips are at the moment and then regularly check the same points on your body to see if youve decreased. I promise having something to assess your progress against will keep you on track and motivated.

Good luck

As usual on this site whenever your not lossing everyone tells you to eat More. Ridiculous, it was eating more that made you gain weight, it not going to make you suddenly lose, however much we wish this to be the answer, id love that to be the magic answer and we can all eat more and be thin but its not true.

You said your rarely eating over 1760 kcals but are you sure? Even if you are eating healthily if the portion sizes are large then you will be eating more calories than you think. You are probably used to larger portions, (especially in American restaurants) i would recommend that you start measuring out your food for a few weeks so you get used to real portion sizes and see if you are really eating the amount you think you are.

why is it that i knew id get bashed for my opinion. 2000 kcals is standard for a woman and 2500 kcals for a man, so if you are eating near this and expecting to lose weight then of course your going to be disappointed by slow progress, unless of course you are very very over weight and therefore have a exceptionally high BMR.

1500 kcals is often suggested as a diet, and eating back what youve burnt off in the gym kind of defeats the point in going to the gym doesnt it?

Yes of course you can lose weight with lifting. I do regular body pump and its helped me lose weight and tone up a lot. Your right its near impossible to add muscle and lose fat at the same time but as long as you maintain the muscle you have youll look more toned as the fat disappears and shows your muscle.

And how is 1700 kcals per day possibly under eating? A usual diet is around 1500 kcals maybe even as low as 1250 kcals which before you tell me is to low is actually what caloriecount.com worked out i need and also what was suggested to me by nutritionist
