Me too. 5'4", 130 pounds, down from 142 in July.  And stuck at 129-130 for two months now, it's EXTREMELY IRRITATING.  So if you find anything that works for you... let me know!!

I'm stuck too.  I started at 142, got to 129, and now I'm stuck fast.  My goal is 125 so I'm just as close as you, and I haven't gotten below 129-130 in two months now.  I know it's frustrating, but keep it up, and supposedly eventually the plateau will break...

I hope! :)

Health & Support can i eat sodium if i have low blood pressure? Nov 13 2007

I know that my blood pressure is really low too.  I'm 25, weigh 129, down from 142, goal of 125.  I have to eat a lot of sodium (like 4000 mg a day) or I get light headed after a few days of low-sodium meals.... but the light headedness corresponds to low-weighing-in days... of course!  Because I don't have enough blood volume those days!! Sigh.  But, I know that my doctor says it's fine for young, healthy people with low blood pressure and occasional symptoms (dizziness upon standing, mini blackouts of vision, etc). to eat more sodium than others.  But only if you're healthy and have no history of heart disease, etc.  Hope this helps!! :)

I wouldn't say that jealousy has been something I've experienced, but I do know that it's harder to stay focused on my diet when many of my friends are men, don't need to watch their food/calorie intake, and don't understand that I *DO* need to watch it.  So if we go out to dinner they make fun of my salad, and the fact that I can't have three beers (though I wish I could!), or that I won't snack on chips while watching the game.  It's especially hard when my long-term significant other is 5'9", weighs probably 140 pounds (he's a male) and has been that skinny for his whole life -- and he eats like crazy.  So it's an entirely different mindset.  I must say, I'm more jealous of them than they are of me! :)

Fitness 150 lbs overweight, want to start jogging, how to begin? Nov 12 2007

I'd say the couch to five k is a good way to start.  But please, before beginning any sort of exercise regime, check with your doctor.  Doing strenuous exercise while carrying that extra weight may cause serious injury to your body, even to your heart, so just let your doctor know first -- to be sure it's safe.

And congratulations on the 60+ pounds lost, and lifestyle change!  You must be very proud. :)

 Cheers,

Cindy

Weight Loss 5'2'' and 5'3'' gals - what sizes are you? Nov 12 2007

I'm 5'3", 25 years old, with no kids.

I weigh about 129 pounds right now and I wear a 9 (in juniors) and a 6 (in women's sizes).  I can fit a 4 in women's sizes if I want to wear tight jeans. I carry my weight in my butt and hips, and a little in the belly (love handles! muffin top! EEEEK!!)

On top, I'm a small or medium, depending, and I'm a bra size 34B...

When I was 140 pounds, I wore a size 10 women's jeans, and no way no how could fit into juniors stuff.  Juniors clothes are designed for women with hips and waist that are similar in size, and I have a very curvy hip:waist ratio that makes me fit women's (evens) sizes better.  I think everybody who wears odd sizes (9, 11, 13, etc) should try women's sizing -- just for the vanity! Hahaha :)  I love wearing a size six!

 Hope this helped!

Health & Support Bad Headaches......Does anyone else experience this since starting dieting? Nov 11 2007

Hi!

I know that when my blood sugar gets low, I get a bad headache.  Maybe it's that.  Try eating smaller meals more often, eating protein and good fats with every meal (nuts, a little bit of cheese, etc).  That helps me.

Also, make sure you tell your doctor that you stopped taking your water pill.  I know that it's very important to take that medication for hypertension (I'm not a doctor but I'm in medical school), so just tell him or her that you stopped taking it -- maybe you can try a different pill or something else -- but it is very important to tell your Doctor.

Hope this helped!

Health & Support Anyone Gain Weight After Loss Of Spouse Nov 11 2007

First, I am so sorry to read about your loss.  I cannot relate because I am not married, but the loss of my stepmother over the summer did lead to my gaining weight.  I think people deal with grief in different ways, and for me, trying to fill that hole of loss led to me eating more often and more quantity.  It was hard to stop.  Bereavement for others can lead to severe weight loss... it just depends on how you deal with the sadness.  I hope this helped.

Health & Support i've stopped getting my period. Oct 22 2007

Being underweight for a long period of time can cause permanent organ damage. Anorexia being a main cause of long-term underweight.

I posted this link elsewhere but losing your period is dangerous, because it means you are "technically infertile" at the time. Your body says that it doesn't have enough energy to grow a fetus, so it stops releasing eggs. If the underweight condition remains for long enough, the damage can become permanent...

I've included this link to a story about Nikki Grahame, a celebreality star, who is now permanently infertile due to a struggle with anorexia. She will never be able to have children.

Nikki Grahame Unable to have children here is a link to the site.

I don't know if it helps you see what kind of damage being underweight can do. It's just information, take it as you will.

I would see a doctor, personally. Also, to Jessinca, the birth control pill gives you a "period" every month regardless of your ability to sustain a fetus (the bleeding on a birth control pill is just "breakthrough bleeding" and is not a "real period" per se). If you're worried about your weight and health, I'd see a doctor :)

Hope this helps, it's just my opinion and advice. :)

I get this way too, if I don't eat enough sodium.  I have chronically low blood pressure and must eat a lot of salt to keep it up.  If I eat low-salt for several days, I get very light-headed when I stand up, etc.  So perhaps it's that.  Get it checked by a doctor, or at least at a pharmacy automatic-blood-pressure machine thing.  I hope this helps!

If you're not used to that much fiber, you may have a little bit of discomfort.  Water will help, and tomorrow, keep it lower, and maybe it won't be really bad.  I personally sometimes over-eat fiber and get really bad constipation and stomach pain... So I keep a closer eye on it.  Good luck!

I love snack bars.  Pria makes 110-calorie bars that taste like candy bars, all different flavors.  Also, Slim Fast Optima makes a peanut butter crunch bar, 120 cals, that is like a butterfinger.  I HIGHLY recommend these as desserts intead of a snickers!!

:) Hope it helps!

It's almost certainly WATER weight.  No worries!  My weight ranges up and down like that all the time -- maybe you had more salt than normal, or if you're working out hard, your muscles will retain water while healing.  Don't worry about it, really.  You can't possibly have eaten 10500 calories over your maintenance in the last three days, right? :)  So stay motivated and focused.

I'm trying to lose the last bit of weight too -- I'm down to 130 (from 142) and have a 125 mini goal before my final goal of 116.  :)
