this is also a local story for me as well.

i remember when both Amanda and Gina went missing.  i remember when Gina went missing there was speculation that perhaps they were taken by the same individual as they went missing in the same area.

it was amazing that not only were they found alive after all this time, but that they were found together.

i am quite worried about Michelle as her family is a mess and she was having mental problems even before she was kidnapped.  add to that, the fact that while people were still searching for Gina and Amanda and the news was covering it, no one even knew she was missing.  and now it's being reported that she had been beaten so badly that she'll need reconstructive facial surgery.

Swing version of The Internationale

I would much rather see anarchist flags instead of the commie flags in the video but the song is great.

1. Everyone in this country is a capitalist. There is no other option (aside from homelessness and begging, which accounts for what? less than 1% of the population?).

disagree.  everyone in this country lives under a capitalist system.  however, using it as an ideological term, no, not everyone subscribes to it as being something that they want.  also, in terms of relationship to income producing property - be it boss or landlord - then most folks in this country are most definitely not capitalists.

But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be alright

sometimes destruction is necessary for construction.

*edit for clarity.  this statement isn't really about property or people, but rather social/political/economic systems.

The destruction of social, political, economic system seldom comes without bloodshed. Gradual shift is what modern civilized society should pursue.

Not a fan of bloodshed either but keep in mind that gradual shift as opposed to revolution also comes with bloodshed.  maybe not the flashy kind that most people think about when it comes to revolution, but capitalism is drowning in the bloodshed that it causes be it from war or poverty.  so do thing like racism, sexism and homophobia.  all those things cause bloodshed.

But, I think it starts with people who are unsettled with life and not having a direction or moral compass or passion/purpose in life.  At least, that’s how they feel.  So they have this hole in them.  They are lacking.

speaking as a "radical" i can say that this is hogwash.  i have am very settled in life, a have a defined moral compass and plenty of passions and purpose in my life.  but that doesn't change the fact that i'm an avowed anarchist-communist or that i fully advocate the replacement of the US government (and all others) with a vastly different system.

however if you only view "radical" as someone who kills other folks, then no, that is not me in the slightest.

so what you're saying is that it's most directly going to impact bosses and politicians?

The Lounge What is "Climate Justice"? Jan 29 2013

That's the technological know-how part.  Helping countries develop a greener approach.  Paying cash isn't necessarily the biggest part of it, but sharing the technology.

Edited to add:

and it isn't just about the US, but rather about all the developed countries.  They made their profits by developing in a way that put us into this mess, they have a greater responsibility in helping the world deal with it given that what they had done for the last 200 years or so affected the entire world.

Typically I've heard it referred to being that the countries who have historically been the contributors to climate change need to pony up a larger share to help fight the effects of said change and also help, through technological know-how, less developed countries avoid becoming heavy polluters themselves while they develop.

More like co-operative government, via committee?

I wasn't referring to the electoral college.  It's electoral politics as a whole that I have disagreements with.  Scrap it all (and yes that includes the constitution and the idea of a nation) and create something that's much better.

....

Right-o.  We'll get right on that.

*burns the constitution*

*forms tribes*

*engages in tribal warfare for land, slaves, and power*

Are you not voting because you don't think you are well educated and don't want to cast an ignorant vote or do you just not care ? Don' t get too defensive , I really am just wondering because if you are choosing not to vote because you don't think you are well educated in the political views of the candidates then thats great and shows responsibility ( in a way)

Neither.  I don't vote because I don't agree at all with the political system that we have.  I believe that a hierarchical system is a horrible way to structure a society.

Sadly, depending on where you live,  your vote counts more or less.  There are many people that have issues with the electoral college.. you don't vote for a candidate, you vote for an elector's vote.. something like that..
I really dislike it..don't totally understand it..I will vote anyway..

I am exercising a privilege to NOT DISCLOSE MY VOTE.
